  • Fabulous editing. Lol & Kevin were always my favourite pair from 10CC unfortunately neither they nor 10CC were the same once they left the band, a true case of less is less, in my opinion. Pity, as 10CC were one of my favourite bands of the 70's. This is great though.

  • cant stop playing this

  • If only Frank Zappa had these guys in his band...Wait! They would have been the ultimate power trio!!!!

  • @zzzxxyy Now there's a thought. Bloody 'ell

  • great editing job, although I missed the part in one of the videos where the heads in the horn section spin around. I wonder if the "robot band" was based on the cult film "The Abominable Dr Phibes" and his clockwork orchestra? Anybody know?

  • 5 people were men's room attendants.. ;-)

  • My Son is now an Englishman in Lincoln Nebraska. But I gues that's close enough. Always loved this song, thanks for this version Joey

  • Devoted collectors of paraphernalia out walking the rock,

Battle and bitch for the ultimate kitsch of a crucifix clock,

Two miniature Romans running on rails,

Appear every hour to bang in the nails,

I’ve got to have it, Christ, I gotta to be the first on our block.

Oh, to be able to write words like these!

  • What a perfect song.! This goes beyond popmusic..

  • I remember seeing this as a youngster on kids TV, can you imagine them playing this now!!

  • good job with the edit. it must have been difficult to put this together. love the track and the dummies and godley and creme in general.

  • Mr Bungle's uncles.

  • cool

  • these guys were always the thinking persons pop stars - here and with 10cc. This is a wicked song in every sense: wonderfully cynical and funny.

  • "...happy and dopey and dirty in places"...my nerves! Still adore this song by these lovely coconuts!

    long live G&C!

  • great thanks for posting , this is one of those super interesting and yes non politically correct but brilliant tongue in cheek digs at American culture by two of the craftiest songwriters of our time,, ,, oh and to Naylte,, its 'Avon crawling' !!!, not Yvonne crawling!! lol

  • Great Lyrics

  • One of the best songs made ever !!!!

  • @muziekbericht There's something about this song.....i agree mate! ..

  • @johnlennon1970 If you know what it is please tell me...

  • I've seen virtually every music video made (well, maybe missed a few). This one rules. Best ever.

  • Surely this is one of the best songs, and videos, ever produced. A lyrical, musical, and visual masterpiece... Stunning in every area... Music to die for!

  • Agreed with vocrobot's comment below, this video also terrified me when I saw it as a young child. Fabulously creepy & British-eccentric. A fantastic song by fantastic musicians, love it.

  • Fantastic

  • as a lyric fan, i've never heard more lush and better lyrics in my life. still stunning 30 odd years later.

  • @PeterHBne1

I could not agree more, it's so good to be be able to view the non censored version.

  • 1.34 onwards still worries me. it's just not what you expect in a pop song video clip. hence it's brilliance and why people love it for all these years.

  • It is OK to still feel a bit scared by this video at 46 years? yeah? god i love this song.

  • Very impressed with the effort you've put in!! Fantastic compilation for a very underappreciated combo; THE BIG BANG- when art & music collide' the result?

GODLEY & CREME !! With 10cc ,So influencial in my teenage years. Type GG07 into google to see what Godley/Goldman are up to!!

  • Nice job! I'm a big fan of G&C and I just knew the « white version »! Bravo! :)

  • Wow! I pity inanimate objects! And I miss a musical scene that could understand a diverse vocabulary or went beyond the themes of who I love/d, who I fucked and/or how much I love to party!

  • The 10cc guys are very innovativ

  • I remember, back in '79, not a lot of video's were played around here in Europe. I liked this one on the radio, though. I only saw the vid first around '81.

  • @vocrobot me 2 i was about 10 or 11 ahead of its time love it

  • class mate i used to scare my brother with this vid , but its a good tune

  • one day i'll be an belgianman in london !!!

  • This is way ahead of it's time

  • This video was pretty fucking innovative for 1979

  • @vocrobot Yep, along with most Midnight Oil songs and Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds.

  • AMAZING....LOVE THE MUSIC...

  • Great song... a couple of Jewish boys cleverly making a parody of American consumerism, nazi-phobia, Jew humbleness, while sucking Anglo ****.

  • this is a very clever video clip and the song is just brilliant

  • I WANT A MASK! THAT GUY IN THE BEGGINING HAS GOT SOME MOVES! AWESOME

  • The lyric is :"Avon crawling"

  • I'm a big fan of alot of different styles and eras and types of music and Sting is one of my favorite artists so I was just lookin around here and saw Englishman In New York and hit play and WHAT THE F*+K??? That was one of the coolest most bizzare, unsettling things I've seen in quite awhile. It was kind of like when I space out a bit and think I'm drinking coke and take a sip of o.j. and my mind gets a little smack. This was a big smack! I can see how this could disturb a child, it did me.

  • Guggenheim attitudes?? lol

  • I did a stop motion video with toy army men to one of my originals...I say this because G and C (and peter Gabriel) are huge inpirations (at least to me) in original music videos. ...check it out y'all

  • 100% better than todays music, even my kids 7 and 9 like no love it !!!!

    Thnx

  • I loved it when I first heard it on Capital Radio years ago, and I still love it now! A classic song that still sounds great! Thank you for posting this!

  • lol wut?

  • how catchy is this song one of those that sticks in your head you wake up thinking of

i love how the baseline stomps along throughout the song

the orchestra reminds me of dr febes's clockwork orchestrra(the wierd vincent price horrors)

  • @thackerb67 - Dr. Phibes's Clockwork Wizards.

  • Please please please write more politically INCORRECT songs!

    Love this one!!!!

  • Nice job pulling all these different videos together!

  • Nice job pulling all these different videos together!

  • You only ever get the one opportunity to post this so here goes .. (deep breath) .. MY FAVOURITE SONG OF ALL TIME. EVER!

    GENIUS!

  • Thank you for this, this song is a real trip!

    Rick

  • I LOVE 10cc

  • Absolute brilliance & great work on the vid!

  • @vocrobot

Yes, I remember being unsettled by this too. I think it was shown on Swap Shop or some other kids' Saturday morning TV show. Those dummies and their robotic movements were seriously odd.

  • @FairBritannia

lol it was on swap shop i can remember it...

they didnt half plug some un nerving vids!

they be banned today on kids show!

  • Strange apparatus

    You've never seen

    Strange apparatus

    Even stranger theme...

  • I love it--- Howard Johnson is moving his bowels, "Avon Crawling". Priceless.

  • @vocrobot Me too!

  • very good video

  • absolute classic.you,ve made my day.

  • I was a 8 when I saw this video for the first time. I was scared by the dummies. They looked so real to me, it almost seemed they would come into my nightmares and haunt me down.

  • had this on vinyl.... another record i lost in a fire :( .......... i see Richard Hammond from Top Gear at 2:16!!!...... and i never new the connection to 10CC!!...but i can see it now. Great job!!!

It freaked me out as a child too but still loved it!!

  • awesome bit of music right here

  • got this album in '80's. cant get enough

  • Thanks for putting this together!Love it-this is such a great song.

  • I just love the dolls..

They are awesome and scary at the same time!

  • brilliant piece of music

  • Brilliantly done joeyoddo - I have a DVD copy of the much edited version of the song. Your compile video to the full length version was a real find. Thanks.

  • TOTALLY not Politically Correct!!

    MY kind of song! Brilliant!!

  • Sounds SO much better in stereo!!!

    Thanks for this excellent posting!

  • Fun, Fun, Lol and Kevin are just great together, clever music~

  • First time I've heard the extended version, excellent!

  • Pleased, please, please.... NEVER delete this one! Thank you joeyoddo, you are my hero!

  • Love the 'Lock up your daughters, Avon crawling' bit. They really got the video bug around this time.

  • So good to see an unedited version, I also presumed it was banned due to political correctness.

  • Excellent work. Been watching youtube for years and this is the first time I have felt tempted to comment. 10 out of 10.

  • Excellent. First comment I've ever made on a Youtube video. 10 out of 10

  • Excellent work sir. 10/10.

  • hellyes!

  • Excellent piece of work!!

  • Thanks a bunch! It's been years since I heard the full version; I thought it had been banned for political correctness. What makes it so good is it gives me an eerie chill at one point and it's funny when they mention Yvonne crawling.

  • @Naylte Actually, it's "Avon crawling," a reference to Avon Products' widely successful marketing campaign during the 1960s ("Ding-Dong! Avon Calling!").

  • @Naylte he's not singing "Yvonne crawling", it's "Avon crawling"

    ;)

  • Dear Naylte, as far as I know, they say AVON crawling , a company of cosmetics

  • @Naylte: That's actually 'Avon caling'.

  • @Naylte thats actually "Avon Calling/Crawling". Avon is/was a door to door cosmetic direct marketing thing ahead of it's time. Still around i believe, but back in the late 70's early 80's it was BIG.

  • @Naylte I think he sais AVON Crawling. The company that would try to sell you all that beauty crap.

  • Thanks for the comments! I love doing stuff like this, and I've got nothing but time on my hands now. If I could figure out a way to get paid for doing this kind of work all day, I'd be a happy guy!

  • @joeyoddo Bravo good sir- I was unaware of this version until serendipitiously encountering same.

    Voted!

  • @joeyoddo

these lyrics wouldnt be out of place on a robbie williams song

    bet he loves this song

  • @joeyoddo Thanks for the song. I loved this as a kid (i'm 48). This song had a big impact on me. Strange song. Lovely.

  • This is brilliant! Thanks a million for taking the time, the album version deserved to be heard in full.
