  • @frankthebricklayer Thanks for watching Frank! Yeah well so rolls YT right??? I did a part two on this one and have a more recent one shooting a cylinder with Buffalo Bore 44 Mag. WoW ...was that a handful! =) I'll send you the link and you can watch it if you want! =)

  • That thing is a TANK !!!... Otherwise known as the 'GRizz Punisher'.... Hehehee

  • @ohoh00007 YES IT IS!!! =)

  • it's pronounced "kasool" not kasal you dumb ass.

  • @estantino Thank You! Hope you and yours has a nice holiday season!

  • @estantino why are you being such a bitch to this guy ruger six is too cool

  • @estantino estantino...if your best comment about this review is the pronunciation of the word...you need to pull your head out of your ass!

  • I have it in .454 casull and open and C.C. it with corbon .45lc.I use a simply rugged sourdough pancake holster with inside the belt loops .I really like the way you walk through the thought process of purchasing a new weapon.Your info is usefull , well explained and entertaining.Keep up the good work!

  • @djosephj SWEEET! Thats awesome! It's a lot of CC for sure! =) More than I would want to pack around...lol Thanks for watching and commenting much appreciated!

  • Dig the rolled up sleeves. Showing off the guns while show off the Alaskan.

  • Love the Alaskan videos. The word that came to mind when I first held one was Gibraltar. I bought mine based on your thorough demonstration and endorsment of the weapon. Please make more vids on her.

  • @SkullLanyard THANKS! That's awesome! Well funny thing I was just thinking about doing an up date showing it with testing a variety of ammo...and accuracy! =]

  • Bought mine on Monday. Shot it today for the first time.

I handload cast bullets so I can afford to shoot mine. Good video.

  • @Oheeeoh AWESOME! That rocks! Well since this video ammo prices have come down and 44 mag is once again appearing on the shelves! I'm in good shape on it right now as it's not a gun I pound a lot of rounds down range with! =)

  • I will be picking up my Ruger Alaskan 44 mag this weekend at a gun show. Here is a term I use for large frame\caliber handguns: HAND HELD HOWITZERS!

Thanks for the videos- it just confirmed my wanting this handgun even more.

  • Does anyone else think a 4 inch barrel is way to short for a .44 mag maybe it was just me but i had a Taurus .44 mag with the 4" brl and the recoil made it way to inaccurate for me.

  • @eatwenuwant 4" I think it's perfect!

  • @eatwenuwant I like it! LOL Good luck on your new acquisition when you get it!

    Your gonna just love it!

  • Just picked my Alaskan up today. Wow what an amazing firearm. I have been carrying it around the house (unloaded) since I got home with it. Question for you, I noticed the gun sounds like something is loose in it, I found that when I cock the hammer back there is a metal strip that seems loose, does yours have that?

  • @01gasman Thats normal!

It's your hammer block or transfer bar!

    No worries!!!!! =)

  • @01gasman Congratulations!!!! =) Thanks for sharing about your purchase and your thoughts on the .44 Magnum and in particular the Ruger Alaskan! =]

  • I just ordered one from Buds Guns, $718 delivered. Looks great. I already picked up some 44 ammo from Walmart. I should have it in a few days. Can't wait. great video, you helped make my decision.

  • Well all I can say is...

    You won't be disappointed!

    And...Congratulations! =)

  • FYI, picked up my new Alaskan 44 mag today! Went straight to the range and dumped 200 rounds through this metal beast!! I have fired many 44 mags in my time from Desert Eagles, Colt Anacondas Taurus to Smiths and all I can say is that this is the most comfortable, smooth, 44 mag I have ever fired. My right hand is not sore at all. The grips absorb a lot of the shock and I was just amazed! What a fine piece of firearm to have. It may cost a lot, but it is well worth it.

  • Had one of those for a year or so. Great gun, but I just could never reconcile the size of that thing! Too many years of Smiths, I guess.

    Good review!

  • Had a hard time decided between the Smith 629! Would love that one you did a vid on 629 with 3" barrel??!

The 629 at the store had a weird dirty finish on it and 4" barrel...this one was less and actually looked better

  • I recently purchased one of these revolvers and cannot wait to get it. Thanks for the solid video

  • You're gonna love it!!!!!!! =]

    Thanks for watching!!

  • A slightly longer barrel would be my pick because it won't add much weight but will definitely utilize the benefit of the .44 magnum power. I have the 629 6+ inches and love it. Also having small hand, I like the 629 better.

Nice gun, you should pack it for hunting.

  • Jesus Christ!! (And I'm not even Christian!) That was loud! It seem's like a fun gun to shoot. Is the HOGUE grip a option form Ruger or was it installed by the store.

  • Praise God!!! (And I am a Christian!!!) =}

The grips are Hogue but put on at the factory and they have the Ruger logo on them!

  • @rugersix LOL!

I I herd that HOGUE makes some good grips.

  • Indeed!!! =]

  • Ruger has a specail place in my heart its because the first gun I every fired was my late fathers .22 LR. Sadly my Dad pass away last year and he left behind the Ruger .22LR Pistol. I also have a Ruger 10/22 which is fun to plink with. Ruger Red Hawk is on my list in futher gun collection.

  • Thanks for sharing Capt55806...I have a similar story lost my Dad this past Jan. except in his case it was a Colt .22LR Challenger. It also was the first gun I ever shot!

  • You are very lucky to have that because Colt did not make very many .22LR.

Anything in Colt .22LR is a Colletors item and big money specail the Colt Ace which is a 1911 chambered in .22LR If you every find one of those grab because they go up in price.

  • You just can't go wrong with a Ruger Revolver. Awesome vid, 5/5.

  • How could I ever dis agree with that!!!! =]

    Thanks!!!!

  • That is one sweet gun

  • I wont argue that one! =]

  • This is quite a beastly revolver! The Super Redhawk Alaskan must've came out around the time I started high school, so it's still a fairly new firearm. It's really hard to consider this thing a true "snub nose" revolver due to it's huge frame and large bore ammunition.

Heh, it's nice for me to finally see a Ruger Six video where you literally review a "Ruger Six!" XD

  • Yeah the "snub nose" comment was a joke!

I was making reference to the very short barrel! =] Well there is a Blackhawk vid up which is a six! =] RugerSix actually comes from the Single-Six by Ruger...I have yet to review it! =] More sixes to follow later!

  • Man, what a chunk of steel, such a cool looking gun.

  • It is indeed!

    Better close-ups in part two! =}

    Thanks for watching.

  • Those things can straight up stop a bear in it's tracks. My buddy has the one in .454/.45LC and it's so insane to shoot. We usually shoot .45 LC because of ammo prices and all that blah blah. We have of course shot with .454 but holy cow that can really hurt. The .45 LC is much easier to control.

  • I hear ya.

I went with the 44 magnum cause I figured ammo would be a bit easier to get.

  • think about buyin this gun looks damn cool :) pretty cool vid!

  • Yeah....it's pretty cool!!! =]

  • oh go on ruger six your the man on revolvers! im sure out in the states someone will give you a good deal on a 500! would love to see one in your hands blasting away lol regards josh

  • LoL =D

  • Oh Yeah! A Man's Pistol for sure! Great Bear Gun as well~ Thanks

  • "Do I feel lucky? Well? Do ya punk?" lol

On a serious note, how can you afford to shoot that thing? 44 mag is expensive ammo!

  • I can't!!!!

    But....doing it anyway!!!!

I only slammed 30rounds down range.

That was 10 more than I was originally going to! =]

  • Well I eat chocolate when I really shouldn't, so kindred spirits. I would actually be afraid to carry that thing in public...over-penetration seems a big risk. It'd be different if I was in the woods and it had a 4 inch barrel or a situation when open carry was needed.

My dad and I have been getting deep into guns over the past half year. We both have small 9mm for CCW, but he asked what I would get if I bought another one. I told him "something combat worthy, like an m92." We want to be ready

  • Well if you are referring to conceal carry I would not pack it either it's toooooo heavy for one thing! And it's a whole lot more gun than you need!

  • At 2:27 and 3:28, I think you meant to say Ruger REDHAWK 4" instead of SUPER Redhawk 4". SRH doesn't have a 4" model. RH 4" is also a relatively new model, I believe it came after Alaskan had been introduced. I got one, in 44mag. It's my favorite range gun, as it gets a lot of attention. The only thing I hate is the ammo price...

  • YUP your correct my mistake thanks!

Not real use to the Redhawk line.

    Thanks for the comment!

  • Bears killer =)))

  • It IS!!!!!!! =]

  • at :54 you look MEAN with that thing. looks like your going to take on the world. damn haha.

  • I'm sorry wasn't trying to give that impresson.!!! LOL =]

  • ruger six if you can get hold of a 500 S&W Magnum that would be nice!!!

  • LOL...I could but it's a lot more than I want!!!!! =P

  • Hello, I have never shot that perticular pistol but, man it looks to be really a nice firearm. It really looks to have a sleek and refined look to it. Congratulations on your purchase. I will definitaly look at one when I get a chance to come back to the states.

  • Thank You and good luck to you when you get here!

  • Part 1 is of course also excellent Harry! 1.2 KG wow that's a lot! Well you as a 'Ruger' can't say no to a Ruger and especially not if it's named 'Alaskan'!!

  • I couldn't say NO!!!! =D LOL

  • Nice choice!. I use to reload .44 mag when I did alot of plinking with my Colt Anaconda. Thanks for the subs too!.

  • Thank You!!!!!

    Hmmm....Colt Anaconda!!!!! NICE!

    Love those Colts!

  • Niiiiiiiiiiice! Thanks for the great review on this great gun. Great job, as usual!

  • Thats a Honkin Pistola....Looks pretty sweet in that holster on your hip!!

  • It is and.........she fits great!

    Very comfortable carry!

    Thanks!

  • my dad has a S&W 357 magnum revolver

we are looking for a large caliber revolver

but price is an issue can someone help

  • If you are looking for say a .44 magnum you can try Taurus if price is an issue?

Or if you want a Ruger or Smith you could try finding a used one.

  • i looked at some of the taurus revolvers

and found a desently priced raging bull. Ive heard many good things about this firearm, so i think ill save up for it chamberd in the classic 44. magnum. Do you have any thoughts about the raging bull seris? If so please tell me.

  • I shot one in 454 Casull in Norway and is seemed fine to me! =]

  • LOL! At around 0:54 I heard a .22, compared the the .44 Mag that was hilarious!

  • Good for you...you caught that .22 rifle being shot down the line from me. =P

  • dam thats a big gun thats real nice to i love it. .44 is the best

  • It is indeed my friend! =]

  • I've got the Model 29 with the 6" barrel. I had to go Dirty Harry all the way. What a great pistol! I had a Redhawk in .44 and would gladly have one again. Just haven't found the right one for the right price yet.

  • Had one in 454, sold it. Now I want one in 44 mag!

  • I like it chambered in the .44mag more flexible for me! Thanks! =]

  • all right! very nice gun. with a .44 mag. , you can still claim the famous saying: are you feeling lucky, punk? well do ya? lol!

  • Ha Ha Ha!!!! =D

    Thanks!

  • Nice gun Rugersix, .44 Magnum and the dead on reliability of a Ruger. Now I want one, maybe with a longer barrel though.

  • Yes! Well a longer barrel you would have to go with the Redhawk or Blackhawk in single-action if you wanted to stick with a Ruger!

  • Well it looks like a Ruger Redhawk will be added to the list of guns I want to buy. Thanks Rugersix.

  • it is always a pleasure to see your vids keep it up RUGER

  • Thanks so much for your on going channel support my friend!

  • fit+comfort=fun...good vid...

  • I'll go with that calculation! =}

  • I love those Hogue grips. I might buy a pair for my M1911A1, well, if I can find them, but I don't think it would be a propblem.

  • Hogue does make grips for 1911's!

  • Err, I'd be scared of a gun if they made that paticular Alaskan in 460Mag, or 500. scary, but also whats the purpose, there are not elephants in the states, maybe bears, but the 44Mag will get the job done just as well.

  • This gun is really designed for one major purpose and we will discuss it in part two!

  • I think the S&W revolver I shot (the .357) Was a 686, err, I might be wrong though.

  • Oh, good thing that they have those synthetic grips, they really do reduce the shock of the recoil on your hands. LOVE IT! the biggest round I have fired out of a revolver would have been a .357Mag. It's sooo much fun! Oh, I got my M1911A1 fix yesterday, I did it myself, and it was successful! :D

  • .357 magnum has to be one of my most favorite rounds of all time!

Yes....The grips are totally a real life saver! =] Congrats to you my friend for fixing your 1911 yourself...feels good doesn't it!!!! =D

  • Another great review! Keep 'em comin' !!!!

  • Thanks so much appreciate you watching!

  • Ok, for the record, we have an Alaskan shooting an Alaskan. Definitely cool. 5/5

Would you be able to talk some on the holster?

  • Good point lamddog...that did have a part in the purchase as well! =]

Oh yes we will address that very fine holster in part two!

  • The holster really reminds me of the fine leather one can find with the Canadian series of fixed blade knives. It would make for a fine Great White North fly fishing package.

  • There is something I really never thought about when I bought the holster...will point it out in part two! =]

  • Very nice revolver, the recoil can't be underestimated, I reckon. Do you consider it for CCW ? It has a lot of firepower but it's still quite large.

  • It is very nice! I will discuss that very subject in part two!

  • 44mag...thats too much bang!

  • Naaaaaaaaa! =}

  • very nice!

  • Agreed!

    Thank you for watching!

  • Thanks for the vid.

I was wondering if you'd do a review of that .44.

Currently I have .44 gap in my own collection, but I was thinking of going single action. The recoil of a .44 might be more tolerable with 'plow' or 'Bisley' grips. And I don't see myself trying to double taps with a .44.

Any thoughts on which single action revolver might suit best?

  • For a single action revolver chambered in 44 Magnum only one name stands out in my mind.............."Blackhawk"

The Ruger New Model Blackhawk would be an excellent choice IMO! =]

  • The Blackhawk is the way to go, such a fine piece! Mine has the Bisley grips, and is a dream to shoot!

  • Great video, Harry!

Sort of a side-topic question, but what drew you towards 44 Rem Mag vs. 454 Casull? I've debated that issue myself, and would pick a 454 first since you can fire 45LC with it like my replica shoots. But then again, does a 44 Rem Mag edge out the 454 Casull on something? Or is it all the matter of picking a revolver that feels good, and going with what caliber is available?

  • Hi and Thanks!

Excellent question! I felt that the .454 was a bit more than I needed and all though you can shoot the 45LC as well...the price is very expensive and I have not seen 45LC on the shelves for many months! I felt .44 magnum would be more plentiful and not as expensive. I've had trouble finding it as well, but recently was able to get some...the cost is rediculious!!!! This can also shoot the hard to find and expensive also .44Special cartridge. Bottom line 44 mag plenty for me!

  • Thank you for the explanation! I hear you on that ammo availability thing! Like a fool, but a smart fool, I bought a bunch up when it was on sale and the prices were reasonable, and availability was there. Now i've got plastic shelving full of the stuff, but don't want to shoot because I don't want to have to replace it! Honestly, i'm seeing some of the pricing lower than it was last winter when I bought it. I had some backorders from then, but canceled them, because prices are cheaper now. Ha!!

  • I paid $39 plus tax for a box of 50 cartridges in .44 magnum. You can be sure at those prices I wont be going out and running 100 or 200 rounds at a time!

For this vid I used only 30 rounds and that was 10 more than I planned! LOL =]

  • Wow, big bore revolver rounds add up! I just checked my receipts, and the cheapest box of 50ct 45LC I bought was $30 for M-T 200gr LFNs vs. $10 for a box of 38 Spec cartridges. Hmmm.....pretty soon it's going to be cheaper to muzzleload everything! I thought I had been having accuracy issues with the MagT's in the Uberti, but I bought more anyways because they were the most value-priced that I could find. Other people seem to say good things about them too. But I pretty much bought a variety.

  • Two words.... BAD ASS!!

    5/5

  • Ha Ha Ha.........Yeah!

    Thanks MBV!!!!! =]

  • Love it man. Waiting on the second part now :D!

    -mike

  • Thanks Mike...guess I better get busy on part two!!!! LOL =]

  • god i love revolvers!

  • Ahhh...ME TO!!!! =}

  • Does your redhawk have the shaky transfer bar in it? My gp100 has that. It's the only thing that I don't like about my gun. My choices were between the s&w 686 and the ruger gp100. I went ruger and am very happy with it..They make great revolvers...Nice video ruger6. 5*'s

  • Most all revolvers that have the transfer bar have that rattle! It does not affect the performance of the revolver what so ever!!!

You think Ruger is bad should hear it in a Charter Arms!!! LOL =] And YES...it rattles! =] I believe it is designed that way for a purpose. Thanks for watching!

    Gp-100 another nice Ruger product! =}

  • looking forward to part 2 like the photos mixed in with the video

  • Thank you...I'll have to get busy on it!!!! =]

  • she's a beaut harry.

  • Oh....I couldn't agree with you more fk243!

  • i was curious if in your next video if you could do a clip of bullets comperison like a line up of diffrent cabilers. thanks

  • I only have the 44 magnum not the other but I'll see if I can add some pics of the others. Thanks!

  • Yeah!

If Dirty Harry gets one of those he'll throw away that old S&W !!

    Lol, JK...

    *****

    Peace

    D.

  • Oh no...gota keep the old Smiths too!

    LOL =)

    Thanks!

  • That is a very fine looking revolver. Harry. It really looks 'the business'. I'm guessing that it's also a real 'man-stopper'.

  • Ted...This thing is a BEAR Stopper!!!! =)

BTW-This gun is NOT KIWI Aproved!!!

    Sorry Mate!!!

  • You Americans get to have all the fun..........:(

  • Harry that is beautiful.Your hard work and attention to detail makes your channel special. You were right about the 629 the lanyard was removable.Best Videos on you tube!Thanks..

  • Bill I certainly appreciate your generousity my friend! I'm glad you got that lanyard loop off that will save the palm of your hand a lot of discomfort! =)

    Thanks for watching!

  • You're right about being spendy. My dad has the Super Redhawk in .480 Ruger. He doesn't shoot it anymore because the ammo is to expensive. That, and he's to lazy to reload for it lol. Fun gun to shoot though.

  • No kidding!!!! I don't blame him...on the lazy part I won't go there!!! LOL =]

    Thanks for watching!

  • Awesome, been waiting for a review on this. 5*

  • Thanks Man! This is an awesome

    44MAG!

  • When is part 2 gonna be up?

  • Hopefully before Monday, but not sure...I haven't even started on it yet!!! LOL =D

  • Alright, I will be looking forward to it.
