@frankthebricklayer Thanks for watching Frank! Yeah well so rolls YT right??? I did a part two on this one and have a more recent one shooting a cylinder with Buffalo Bore 44 Mag. WoW ...was that a handful! =) I'll send you the link and you can watch it if you want! =)

@djosephj SWEEET! Thats awesome! It's a lot of CC for sure! =) More than I would want to pack around...lol Thanks for watching and commenting much appreciated!
Love the Alaskan videos. The word that came to mind when I first held one was Gibraltar. I bought mine based on your thorough demonstration and endorsment of the weapon. Please make more vids on her.
@SkullLanyard THANKS! That's awesome! Well funny thing I was just thinking about doing an up date showing it with testing a variety of ammo...and accuracy! =]
@Oheeeoh AWESOME! That rocks! Well since this video ammo prices have come down and 44 mag is once again appearing on the shelves! I'm in good shape on it right now as it's not a gun I pound a lot of rounds down range with! =)
Does anyone else think a 4 inch barrel is way to short for a .44 mag maybe it was just me but i had a Taurus .44 mag with the 4" brl and the recoil made it way to inaccurate for me.
Just picked my Alaskan up today. Wow what an amazing firearm. I have been carrying it around the house (unloaded) since I got home with it. Question for you, I noticed the gun sounds like something is loose in it, I found that when I cock the hammer back there is a metal strip that seems loose, does yours have that?
I just ordered one from Buds Guns, $718 delivered. Looks great. I already picked up some 44 ammo from Walmart. I should have it in a few days. Can't wait. great video, you helped make my decision.
FYI, picked up my new Alaskan 44 mag today! Went straight to the range and dumped 200 rounds through this metal beast!! I have fired many 44 mags in my time from Desert Eagles, Colt Anacondas Taurus to Smiths and all I can say is that this is the most comfortable, smooth, 44 mag I have ever fired. My right hand is not sore at all. The grips absorb a lot of the shock and I was just amazed! What a fine piece of firearm to have. It may cost a lot, but it is well worth it.
A slightly longer barrel would be my pick because it won't add much weight but will definitely utilize the benefit of the .44 magnum power. I have the 629 6+ inches and love it. Also having small hand, I like the 629 better.
Jesus Christ!! (And I'm not even Christian!) That was loud! It seem's like a fun gun to shoot. Is the HOGUE grip a option form Ruger or was it installed by the store.
Ruger has a specail place in my heart its because the first gun I every fired was my late fathers .22 LR. Sadly my Dad pass away last year and he left behind the Ruger .22LR Pistol. I also have a Ruger 10/22 which is fun to plink with. Ruger Red Hawk is on my list in futher gun collection.
Thanks for sharing Capt55806...I have a similar story lost my Dad this past Jan. except in his case it was a Colt .22LR Challenger. It also was the first gun I ever shot!
You are very lucky to have that because Colt did not make very many .22LR.
Anything in Colt .22LR is a Colletors item and big money specail the Colt Ace which is a 1911 chambered in .22LR If you every find one of those grab because they go up in price.
This is quite a beastly revolver! The Super Redhawk Alaskan must've came out around the time I started high school, so it's still a fairly new firearm. It's really hard to consider this thing a true "snub nose" revolver due to it's huge frame and large bore ammunition.
Heh, it's nice for me to finally see a Ruger Six video where you literally review a "Ruger Six!" XD
I was making reference to the very short barrel! =] Well there is a Blackhawk vid up which is a six! =] RugerSix actually comes from the Single-Six by Ruger...I have yet to review it! =] More sixes to follow later!
Those things can straight up stop a bear in it's tracks. My buddy has the one in .454/.45LC and it's so insane to shoot. We usually shoot .45 LC because of ammo prices and all that blah blah. We have of course shot with .454 but holy cow that can really hurt. The .45 LC is much easier to control.
oh go on ruger six your the man on revolvers! im sure out in the states someone will give you a good deal on a 500! would love to see one in your hands blasting away lol regards josh
Well I eat chocolate when I really shouldn't, so kindred spirits. I would actually be afraid to carry that thing in public...over-penetration seems a big risk. It'd be different if I was in the woods and it had a 4 inch barrel or a situation when open carry was needed.
My dad and I have been getting deep into guns over the past half year. We both have small 9mm for CCW, but he asked what I would get if I bought another one. I told him "something combat worthy, like an m92." We want to be ready
At 2:27 and 3:28, I think you meant to say Ruger REDHAWK 4" instead of SUPER Redhawk 4". SRH doesn't have a 4" model. RH 4" is also a relatively new model, I believe it came after Alaskan had been introduced. I got one, in 44mag. It's my favorite range gun, as it gets a lot of attention. The only thing I hate is the ammo price...
Hello, I have never shot that perticular pistol but, man it looks to be really a nice firearm. It really looks to have a sleek and refined look to it. Congratulations on your purchase. I will definitaly look at one when I get a chance to come back to the states.
Part 1 is of course also excellent Harry! 1.2 KG wow that's a lot! Well you as a 'Ruger' can't say no to a Ruger and especially not if it's named 'Alaskan'!!
and found a desently priced raging bull. Ive heard many good things about this firearm, so i think ill save up for it chamberd in the classic 44. magnum. Do you have any thoughts about the raging bull seris? If so please tell me.
I've got the Model 29 with the 6" barrel. I had to go Dirty Harry all the way. What a great pistol! I had a Redhawk in .44 and would gladly have one again. Just haven't found the right one for the right price yet.
Err, I'd be scared of a gun if they made that paticular Alaskan in 460Mag, or 500. scary, but also whats the purpose, there are not elephants in the states, maybe bears, but the 44Mag will get the job done just as well.
Oh, good thing that they have those synthetic grips, they really do reduce the shock of the recoil on your hands. LOVE IT! the biggest round I have fired out of a revolver would have been a .357Mag. It's sooo much fun! Oh, I got my M1911A1 fix yesterday, I did it myself, and it was successful! :D
The holster really reminds me of the fine leather one can find with the Canadian series of fixed blade knives. It would make for a fine Great White North fly fishing package.
Currently I have .44 gap in my own collection, but I was thinking of going single action. The recoil of a .44 might be more tolerable with 'plow' or 'Bisley' grips. And I don't see myself trying to double taps with a .44.
Any thoughts on which single action revolver might suit best?
Sort of a side-topic question, but what drew you towards 44 Rem Mag vs. 454 Casull? I've debated that issue myself, and would pick a 454 first since you can fire 45LC with it like my replica shoots. But then again, does a 44 Rem Mag edge out the 454 Casull on something? Or is it all the matter of picking a revolver that feels good, and going with what caliber is available?
Excellent question! I felt that the .454 was a bit more than I needed and all though you can shoot the 45LC as well...the price is very expensive and I have not seen 45LC on the shelves for many months! I felt .44 magnum would be more plentiful and not as expensive. I've had trouble finding it as well, but recently was able to get some...the cost is rediculious!!!! This can also shoot the hard to find and expensive also .44Special cartridge. Bottom line 44 mag plenty for me!
Thank you for the explanation! I hear you on that ammo availability thing! Like a fool, but a smart fool, I bought a bunch up when it was on sale and the prices were reasonable, and availability was there. Now i've got plastic shelving full of the stuff, but don't want to shoot because I don't want to have to replace it! Honestly, i'm seeing some of the pricing lower than it was last winter when I bought it. I had some backorders from then, but canceled them, because prices are cheaper now. Ha!!
I paid $39 plus tax for a box of 50 cartridges in .44 magnum. You can be sure at those prices I wont be going out and running 100 or 200 rounds at a time!
For this vid I used only 30 rounds and that was 10 more than I planned! LOL =]
Wow, big bore revolver rounds add up! I just checked my receipts, and the cheapest box of 50ct 45LC I bought was $30 for M-T 200gr LFNs vs. $10 for a box of 38 Spec cartridges. Hmmm.....pretty soon it's going to be cheaper to muzzleload everything! I thought I had been having accuracy issues with the MagT's in the Uberti, but I bought more anyways because they were the most value-priced that I could find. Other people seem to say good things about them too. But I pretty much bought a variety.
Does your redhawk have the shaky transfer bar in it? My gp100 has that. It's the only thing that I don't like about my gun. My choices were between the s&w 686 and the ruger gp100. I went ruger and am very happy with it..They make great revolvers...Nice video ruger6. 5*'s
Most all revolvers that have the transfer bar have that rattle! It does not affect the performance of the revolver what so ever!!!
You think Ruger is bad should hear it in a Charter Arms!!! LOL =] And YES...it rattles! =] I believe it is designed that way for a purpose. Thanks for watching!
Harry that is beautiful.Your hard work and attention to detail makes your channel special. You were right about the 629 the lanyard was removable.Best Videos on you tube!Thanks..
Bill I certainly appreciate your generousity my friend! I'm glad you got that lanyard loop off that will save the palm of your hand a lot of discomfort! =)
You're right about being spendy. My dad has the Super Redhawk in .480 Ruger. He doesn't shoot it anymore because the ammo is to expensive. That, and he's to lazy to reload for it lol. Fun gun to shoot though.
i have one too, its an ass kikin pussy cat

Sort of a side-topic question, but what drew you towards 44 Rem Mag vs. 454 Casull? I've debated that issue myself, and would pick a 454 first since you can fire 45LC with it like my replica shoots. But then again, does a 44 Rem Mag edge out the 454 Casull on something? Or is it all the matter of picking a revolver that feels good, and going with what caliber is available?

Hi and Thanks!

Gp-100 another nice Ruger product! =}

That is a very fine looking revolver. Harry. It really looks 'the business'. I'm guessing that it's also a real 'man-stopper'.

You're right about being spendy. My dad has the Super Redhawk in .480 Ruger. He doesn't shoot it anymore because the ammo is to expensive. That, and he's to lazy to reload for it lol. Fun gun to shoot though.

No kidding!!!! I don't blame him...on the lazy part I won't go there!!! LOL =]
