The soloist has his sordino on the G only. Peculiar. I wonder how that differs from normal positioning.

that's where he stores it when he doesn't use it. When in use, it's on the bridge.

Yeah, I realise that. I was just wondering if it differs much from the usual sordino on the D and A strings
