I am a U.S Veteran who severed my country straight out of High School for 4 years. I don't why exactly the reason we went to war but I needed the Money for College. Now I live in Canada because when I came back to America, I came back to poverty. I lived on the streets for a long time of my life. It's not a very proud moment in my life. I felt almost, betrayed. I wish O Riley could check his facts better & not lie to the people... Thats all I have to say

Now he's lying by saying he never said those things and that he was just pointing out that vets were becoming homeless because of mental issues. Like it matters why they are momeless. Absolutely not. Who is "better" than anyone else. You'd have to narrow that down to people who are "better" or "more qualified" to do certain things....kinda like...me making a comment to a video saying the government isn't doing enough for veterans. Out of my battalion of 1000 Marines that went to Iraq, not one homeless veteran. In fact in my 6 years I've not met a single one or heard of one from this war.

And I'm not saying there aren't, what I'm saying is I know a SHITLOAD of Marines and we are like a brotherhood and when I see a problem I recognize it. I just don't see very many true veterans begging. And it's certainly not the governments fault. I had friends die right in front of me-I'm sensitive and concerned but I didn't go whacko and decide not to work when I came back. I can't watch horror movies anymore. Bout it.

I'm not saying I agree with Bill O'Reilly. I will say that, at one point in time I was in a bad situation and I was "homeless" What I learned then, was that me and the people like me were products of their own undoing. If you weren't abusing drugs and alcohol then you in some way alienated everyone that should care about, and would help you. I'm willing to bet that the vast majority of homeless people (ALL, NOT JUST VETS) can point to something that put them on the streets. Not the Government...

Yes many abuse substances. For many of those addiction is not the real problem; but a syptom of PTSD or other mental illness. Many homeless people are women and/or kids, running from abusive homes. Vet violent will also contribute to these numbers. Extended duties are sure to do more harm than single tours. Lack of sufficent assistence when they come home is also a problem. Perhaps it is you that was your own worst enemy; but do not assume the same is for everyone else who is homeless.
