Yes, there is a great loss compared on what can be achieved by it. Would have worked better with a pigtail and an actual cantenna device. This one, however increases range, simple USB WiFi, nothing special.

So what were the signal differences with/without the dish? I've seen pretty good results with this sort of model, but you can get better results by using a brass plate, and copper wire to construct a resonance coil.

enyway u can do anything in tecnhology but it stay legal if u dont use like password hacking u cant create welever u want but it is a matter that if u can use it antenna are ok but with this mega thing i would like find a material wich can block their frequency coz if cellular give cancer in head this thing will do it faster the thing is wifi should not even exist

so let me get this straight, you put a USB extention cord in the dish arm, and stuck the usb wifi dongle at the end.

does this help you pick up more distant signals, or only to broadcast your signal farther?

i have 2 of these dishes from when my neighbor took down his house, the workers were going to toss them out :)

and i live only 2 miles outside of mountain view where the free google wifi is.

You aiming for a wifi satellite in space? I think you need to aim it down a bit. With those directtv dishes the arm is angled below the center of the dish, thus the target is angled above the center. So I'd expect you to get a great increase in noise and no increase in desired signal.
