@SelfPromoting I wasn't talking about the oldest individual tree. Tree rings from several overlapping years and several different trees make up the record dating back over 10K years. A simple read of the Wikipedia article on dendrochronology would have cleared that up. Some trees produce 2 rings a year and others only one, but individual species will produce either 1 or 2, not sometimes 1 and sometimes 2. Ice cores are created seasonally and therefore by years, not freeze-thaw cycles.

I use these very points when debating Xians on Evolution and the Flood claim.

Yes, the tree ring dating goes back 10,500 yrs. Besides the radiometric dating, which is quite accurate, Cosmology is also used. Our Earth is over 4 Billion yrs old. Xians will outright ignore the scientific data, unless they have a claim that needs science as an attempt to validate it. Then science is just peachy!

No flood damage here, and it is 80,000 years old....In the arctic they found bacteria that is over 700,000 years old. Type in Rachel Sussman, and her study of plants 2,000 years old, and older.
