Theres a turtle, then a hawk, then a lynx, then a gorrilla and finaly a huge ship. metal sonic is not a boss but appears in the second to last and last battles. he also appears on the second act of the carnival zone and scrap yard zone. Carnival zone dosent have a boss.

Sonic always had the best music but DAMN! the handheld boss themes are always epic. This is one of the best themes ever, next to Wrapped in Black, Egg Golem, Egg Dragoon, and Wiskers and Johnny. Those are some of my fave.
