I'm looking to buy a all around powerful PC. Mainly for gaming, but I will also be heavily downloading and listening to music, as well as using video editing software and watching movies. Would an Alienware be a all around good choice? I've heard good things about them, but I've also heard they're overpriced. any advice??
So from what I can tell, these guys that build their own, more powerful systems for less money seem to just use them to leave comments about how much better their stuff is on message boards and YouTube comments?
Listen if i had the money, i would buy an alienware also! and if any of u had the money im pretty sure a lot more people would buy it also, they r a good brand they r just too expensive there is really no other proplem than their prices they r a good brand!
@klote2314 You make a valid point on this comment and no one will argue with you on this. However chosing this Pc was of my own doing because I really do not want to be my own tech support.
@klote2314 Ya, but I really dont want to put in the research required to find out what parts I want. I have no idea what type of processor/graphics card to get. Buying alienwware removes the guess work.
ha the case for sale i dont give a damn about the computer parts i just want the case thats it and rebuidl it i did for the area 51 2005 case and its running fast and fin with water cooling! system and bluray! now i want this and do anything one and have 2 alien ware products in my house and i still pay under 300
@GamenMetMees Same bro, It's all about the second gen processors and Corsair RAM.. You sohould get 1600 MHz RAM though.. 16 GB is like £71 (DDR3.) I'm actually going to get 2 GTX's 550 Ti's in SLi.. They the 1GB onboard each. Also, 120 GB OCZ SSD for C:\ and a 1TB Barracuda 7200.1 for secondary.
ive built a computer just as good for 500 on newegg you fucking retard i once considered a alienware because of how nice looking the cases are (area 51 not aurora)
@GamenMetMees nice specs man. im getting my aurora R3 att 19 december. i can't wait! i don't remember the specs- but it cost me about $3500 . sooo this is kinda my christmas present. and im very happy. i have been waiting to get on in almost 2 years.
i7 920 - $300 12 gb ram - $100 Gtx 260 - $200 525w PSU - $40 500gb HD - $50 mATX motherboard - ~$150 dvd drive - $20 liquid cooling - $80 Total: $940 Only thing I didn't include in that list is the case. You said you paid $1500? So, you payed $560 for the case? Okay.
its not intel pentium i7 core chipset, its a intel core i7 920. the video card does not have 1.8gb of Vram, it has 896Mb of Vram. its not sil, its sli. its not alienware aurora atx, its alienware aurora area 51. stfu and stop acting like your smart
@wolff989 and if you didn't know dumbass, the area 51 has been taken off the site, there is no such thing as area 51 anymore, its just alienware aurora for now on and stfu people make mistakes including you
@NvidiaNerd shut the fuck up asswhole ypour the one who dont know what hes talking about. This is aurora not aurora atx or area 51 or area 51 alx. FUCKERRRRRRR bitch

nice...where can I buy a "geoforce" card...especially two in "sill" mode? or maybe someone can show me this i8..no i7...no wait *picks up manual*...i don't even know what i bought but i know it's good or something
guys calm down. Alienware is suitable for people who don't feel like building. It's all up to preference. No matter what you say people will continue to buy as much as I now dislike pre built systems now. Laptops only things worth looking at. These systems are pretty overpriced though. Just built a system with 460 with mobo with pcie 3.0 for later upgrade or sli if 7000/600 series is worth it. Can't accuse me of bias now can you.
You could've -built- a far better one for the same price.
And dang, an Intel Pentium i core chipset. Dear goodness, that's probably an Intel Core i3 CPU. Pentium is history, dude. The chipset is located a little lower and to the right on the motherboard. I'm gonna guess it's a P55 at that.
And GEOForce, running at 1.8 gigabytes? If you want to throw away your money, pay me what you'd pay Alienware, I'll build you something more powerful with better warranties.
please help. for christmas i am getting this pc, but i dont know how to change the water cooling as before i have only had fans, can someone please help
Hey guys, just a question, how many fans can this chassis hold WITHOUT modifying it? Coz from what i see, not alot, yet they are throwing in so many high end computer parts in. Overheating much? and not alot of rooms for future upgrade as well.
lmao! dude, you have no idea what your talking about! thats so funny, because i dont even own one and i know more that you. All that aside, i think i might just get one for my nephew since hes all into the "cool" looking PC's. alienware is a good company though. A bit overpriced albeit, but nonetheless, good.
alienware owners make me laugh because even though they think they are buying something special... and they never know wtf they are talking about when it comes to computers
@XpEAnUTBuTtERsUckSX Though lol, I bought an Alienware knowing very little about hardware, know I'm about as nerdy as it gets, so I guess some mistakes benefit, this guy probably knows how to say "SLI" now lol.
@XpEAnUTBuTtERsUckSX dude stfu, some people don't want to buy several parts online from unreliable companies and warranties. I don't want to fuck up a computer because a PSU rippled my hardware or some faulty hardware that's shipped to me fucks up my computer causing me to pay a SHIPPING FEE any time i want to get it fixed and ALSO wait several weeks. No thanks, i'd rather have a 3 year warranty on a pre-built, solid, PC like the aurora.
@TalkinWTyler So in other words you're completely incompetent and incapable of assembling a pc, nor do you know the companies that sell hardware apparently, yes buy an alienware before you kill you self ffs, they just might throw in a 500w PSU so your rig doesn't blow up, again to pocket themselves of over 1\3 of the price o your PC due to your ignorance. You are the very definition of the word: "ignoramus".
@XpEAnUTBuTtERsUckSX newegg.com would be the best place. I HAVE built a PC, corsair PSU, coolermaster, nvidia graphics card, intel chipset, future proof system, 1833 mhz ram, . My PSU ended up rippling my hardware. SO STFU, i'll buy a solid computer for a few extra hundred from dell. and btw, my job gives me a discount from dell computers. WIN/WIN.
I even had to deal with a shit ton of terrible customer service with these so-called "amazing" companies.
@XpEAnUTBuTtERsUckSX The Alienware systems are roughly £500 more expensive than a custom built PC. Why? 1. You get a warranty 2.You get someone to speak to if something goes wrong 3. They actually look good. I've never seen a custom built PC that has anything like a motorized front panel or customizeable lighting. That's where the extra money goes to. If you don't want any of that, fine. But I do ;)
@liljohn560 Fair enough if you think the extra is actually worth that, but you can get warrenty on all the seperate parts if you want, corsair did a demostration in which you buy all parts from them and get lifetime warrenty.......for free.
@liljohn560 You can have all those if you custom build a computer of your own, so all your arguments are not valid lols. just pointing out. 1. You get warranty on the parts you buy. 2. You can speak to the company which you bought the computer parts from if something is wrong. 3. Custom built computers look WAY better than this. 4. You can custom your computer to have customiseable lighting. lols
@crazedk1ll3r I'm speaking from experience. That experience being that I've never seen a custom built computer that looks as good as these, nor has any of the smaller mechanical details such as the ones shown on this. I'm not hating against custom built PC's, simply saying that I thin Alienware computer look better.
@liljohn560 hmm well, i guess it boils down to personal preferences. I'm not hating either :) hahas, although, have fun with the limited airflow the system provides. For this aurora, they definitely DID NOT plan beforehand how the airflow of the system will work out to be. you might want to do some research online, see how to improve the airflow by adjusting the fan and such. I've seen the system firsthand, and the airflow really sux. Just a heads up.
@crazedk1ll3r I did notice the fact that there's only one fan but doesn't the fact that the vents lift up over the radiator help? I'm not too sure when It comes to cooling :S
@liljohn560 Hahas well, certainly the vents help a little. But you see, the basis of airflow is that, cold air must be blowing into the system, and hot air from the system is blowing out. The fact that there is only one fan means that, either ONLY hot air is blowing out, or ONLY cold air is blowing in, Not particularly ideal. Well, i cant say for sure how to make airflow better, because i need to know exactly how the interior looks like, which i cant. But if you're not doing intensive OC, its ok
@TalkinWTyler You know, no matter where you go, you WILL eventually run into something that doesn't work properly. It's probably good to look up official reviews by people. As far as i know, Alienware doesn't build their own PSUs. They simply buy them from so called unreliable companies.
Will it still be quiet if i use it for a really long time? and is it like, really fast and quiet? the custom built pc im using is 6 years old and it sounds just like a vaccum cleaner right after i switch it on...and it lags a lot of times == ...so i need a new quiet, fast and powerful pc to replace that piece of crap... is this Alienware my right choice? i like the brand and so far ive read a lot of reviews and i have nvr stopped continuing lol please reply a.s.a.p :)
Also, protip now that I've watched the video: Don't ask for build advice from some one who has to look up what kind of GPU is in their brand new over-priced system and goes on to talk about running "Sil" graphics cards (he meant SLI).
Also, how is there not a clip for that fan, rather than just screwing it straight to the heatsink? That looks terrible and hurts cooling to have the fins all bent up like that. That and the "RAM fan" is literally a joke someone at Dell is playing.
Check out DigitalStorm. Slightly more than ibuypower or cyberPC but with build quality and customer service that beats out AlienDell and most top-shelf boutique brands. Companies like ibuypower have some of the worst support around and have been known to stick cheaper parts in ordered PCs and just hope the buyer wouldn't notice. Alienwares are just Dell XPS systems crammed in to Silverstone cases. They weren't worth the money even before Dell bought them.
I don't know if Im having a great performance gameplay on this...i think that it has a low processor? is this pc good enough? Im need help cause Im buying a new pc and i don't wanna waste my money if i know that i can get a better rig for the same price
@MrNinjaShizz Im looking for buying a new pc but I want to know if this computer worth my money or should I look on other options( better options with the same price)?...which graphics do you have?
@shuffle1122 its not actualy overpriced if you pick and choose what you want.. i JUST build my own alienware aurora, priced with tax and shipping at 2212$ i priced up the same items at newegg.ca (i used cheaper DVD drive cheaper processor and cheaper gtx560 than is in my alienware) and the price on newegg using cheaper versions of the parts was still 2078 with tax and shipping. and you don't get a 1 year on site next day warranty free which you do from alienware
@shuffle1122 not even true really like i said at current online prices they are right on the same level, if you get discounts then yea its going to be cheaper, AND if you buy an ALX or spec out an alienware with the highest components they offer it will definately be over priced compared to building, but where my built machine sits is exactly the same cost as building off of tiger direct or newegg believe me i've done it. do it for yourself. build a 2000$ alienware and then price it on newegg
Alienware has cool lighting but in all other senses it is a complete waste of money. I love how I can run BFBC2 maxed on my Asus laptop that cost $800. LOL
@exlHD I got it at best buy. You can no longer get it, its the Asus G60JX. There are videos of it on youtube. They have a new one out now that is better and the same price. They now have an $800 one with a 1GB graphics card like mine, but it has a quad core i7 instead of an i5. Look at tigerdirect.comm
@TheCrissLol Yeh, you are right, it is not a "normal PC". It is a low quality Dell assembled computer with all low quality components, with inflated prices.
Never buy from Alienware. You can get the same thing from Ironside computers at less than half the price, and they're customer service is way better. Remember Alienware is owned by Dell.
Dell failed with the R3, the P67 was recalled and RAID is NOT VERY GOOD ON THIS SYSTEM.
You will regret ever trying it.

Alien ware is expansive because of its brand
a smart guy chooses his own parts and lets a webshop like newegg or amazon do the assembly
ill promise u your pc will be more powerfull then any alienware pc...

XpEAnUTBuTtERsUckSX 6 months ago
@XpEAnUTBuTtERsUckSX dude stfu, some people don't want to buy several parts online from unreliable companies and warranties. I don't want to fuck up a computer because a PSU rippled my hardware or some faulty hardware that's shipped to me fucks up my computer causing me to pay a SHIPPING FEE any time i want to get it fixed and ALSO wait several weeks. No thanks, i'd rather have a 3 year warranty on a pre-built, solid, PC like the aurora.
TalkinWTyler 5 months ago
@TalkinWTyler So in other words you're completely incompetent and incapable of assembling a pc, nor do you know the companies that sell hardware apparently, yes buy an alienware before you kill you self ffs, they just might throw in a 500w PSU so your rig doesn't blow up, again to pocket themselves of over 1\3 of the price o your PC due to your ignorance. You are the very definition of the word: "ignoramus".
XpEAnUTBuTtERsUckSX 5 months ago
@XpEAnUTBuTtERsUckSX newegg.com would be the best place. I HAVE built a PC, corsair PSU, coolermaster, nvidia graphics card, intel chipset, future proof system, 1833 mhz ram, . My PSU ended up rippling my hardware. SO STFU, i'll buy a solid computer for a few extra hundred from dell. and btw, my job gives me a discount from dell computers. WIN/WIN.
I even had to deal with a shit ton of terrible customer service with these so-called "amazing" companies.
TalkinWTyler 5 months ago
@TalkinWTyler fine I'll pay £800 for my geforce 580 system and you can pay 1.5k.
XpEAnUTBuTtERsUckSX 5 months ago
@XpEAnUTBuTtERsUckSX The Alienware systems are roughly £500 more expensive than a custom built PC. Why? 1. You get a warranty 2.You get someone to speak to if something goes wrong 3. They actually look good. I've never seen a custom built PC that has anything like a motorized front panel or customizeable lighting. That's where the extra money goes to. If you don't want any of that, fine. But I do ;)
liljohn560 5 months ago
@liljohn560 Fair enough if you think the extra is actually worth that, but you can get warrenty on all the seperate parts if you want, corsair did a demostration in which you buy all parts from them and get lifetime warrenty.......for free.
XpEAnUTBuTtERsUckSX 5 months ago
@liljohn560 You can have all those if you custom build a computer of your own, so all your arguments are not valid lols. just pointing out. 1. You get warranty on the parts you buy. 2. You can speak to the company which you bought the computer parts from if something is wrong. 3. Custom built computers look WAY better than this. 4. You can custom your computer to have customiseable lighting. lols
crazedk1ll3r 4 months ago
@crazedk1ll3r I'm speaking from experience. That experience being that I've never seen a custom built computer that looks as good as these, nor has any of the smaller mechanical details such as the ones shown on this. I'm not hating against custom built PC's, simply saying that I thin Alienware computer look better.
liljohn560 4 months ago
@liljohn560 hmm well, i guess it boils down to personal preferences. I'm not hating either :) hahas, although, have fun with the limited airflow the system provides. For this aurora, they definitely DID NOT plan beforehand how the airflow of the system will work out to be. you might want to do some research online, see how to improve the airflow by adjusting the fan and such. I've seen the system firsthand, and the airflow really sux. Just a heads up.
crazedk1ll3r 4 months ago
@crazedk1ll3r I did notice the fact that there's only one fan but doesn't the fact that the vents lift up over the radiator help? I'm not too sure when It comes to cooling :S
liljohn560 4 months ago
@liljohn560 Hahas well, certainly the vents help a little. But you see, the basis of airflow is that, cold air must be blowing into the system, and hot air from the system is blowing out. The fact that there is only one fan means that, either ONLY hot air is blowing out, or ONLY cold air is blowing in, Not particularly ideal. Well, i cant say for sure how to make airflow better, because i need to know exactly how the interior looks like, which i cant. But if you're not doing intensive OC, its ok
crazedk1ll3r 4 months ago
@TalkinWTyler You know, no matter where you go, you WILL eventually run into something that doesn't work properly. It's probably good to look up official reviews by people. As far as i know, Alienware doesn't build their own PSUs. They simply buy them from so called unreliable companies.
whosthatguy2345 2 weeks ago
@TalkinWTyler Btw, i have built a computer with a corsair power supply. My computer is still working. -_-
whosthatguy2345 2 weeks ago
@XpEAnUTBuTtERsUckSX Who else would buy an Alienware, but a person who wants the power, but doesn't respect the tech ;)

Will it still be quiet if i use it for a really long time? and is it like, really fast and quiet? the custom built pc im using is 6 years old and it sounds just like a vaccum cleaner right after i switch it on...and it lags a lot of times == ...so i need a new quiet, fast and powerful pc to replace that piece of crap... is this Alienware my right choice? i like the brand and so far ive read a lot of reviews and i have nvr stopped continuing lol please reply a.s.a.p :)
anson2211 6 months ago
No way would I pay for an alienware when I can build a way better machine for less...
graphel145 6 months ago
Also, protip now that I've watched the video: Don't ask for build advice from some one who has to look up what kind of GPU is in their brand new over-priced system and goes on to talk about running "Sil" graphics cards (he meant SLI).
Also, how is there not a clip for that fan, rather than just screwing it straight to the heatsink? That looks terrible and hurts cooling to have the fins all bent up like that. That and the "RAM fan" is literally a joke someone at Dell is playing.
TOBORtheMighty 6 months ago
Check out DigitalStorm. Slightly more than ibuypower or cyberPC but with build quality and customer service that beats out AlienDell and most top-shelf boutique brands. Companies like ibuypower have some of the worst support around and have been known to stick cheaper parts in ordered PCs and just hope the buyer wouldn't notice. Alienwares are just Dell XPS systems crammed in to Silverstone cases. They weren't worth the money even before Dell bought them.
My first PC was an Area-51. Pre-Dell.

i dont know about you, but windows detects the 12 Gigs just fine.
Of course in some games i would have to mod it just so it can use over 3 or 4 gigs and also multi core processors.

daholmes25 6 months ago
@daholmes25 if you want really good quality builds then get an alienware but i have 2 geforce gtx 500 series but i built it myself
MrNinjaShizz 6 months ago
god so overpriced.
shuffle1122 6 months ago
@shuffle1122 its not actualy overpriced if you pick and choose what you want.. i JUST build my own alienware aurora, priced with tax and shipping at 2212$ i priced up the same items at newegg.ca (i used cheaper DVD drive cheaper processor and cheaper gtx560 than is in my alienware) and the price on newegg using cheaper versions of the parts was still 2078 with tax and shipping. and you don't get a 1 year on site next day warranty free which you do from alienware
hersheys99 6 months ago
@hersheys99 still with $2212 i can build a much better computer than the aurora's specs.
shuffle1122 6 months ago
@shuffle1122 not even true really like i said at current online prices they are right on the same level, if you get discounts then yea its going to be cheaper, AND if you buy an ALX or spec out an alienware with the highest components they offer it will definately be over priced compared to building, but where my built machine sits is exactly the same cost as building off of tiger direct or newegg believe me i've done it. do it for yourself. build a 2000$ alienware and then price it on newegg
hersheys99 6 months ago
Alienware has cool lighting but in all other senses it is a complete waste of money. I love how I can run BFBC2 maxed on my Asus laptop that cost $800. LOL
RichColours 6 months ago
@RichColours Serious? Which laptop is it? Give me the exact name? Where did you purchase it?
exlHD 6 months ago
@exlHD I got it at best buy. You can no longer get it, its the Asus G60JX. There are videos of it on youtube. They have a new one out now that is better and the same price. They now have an $800 one with a 1GB graphics card like mine, but it has a quad core i7 instead of an i5. Look at tigerdirect.comm

Never buy from Alienware. You can get the same thing from Ironside computers at less than half the price, and they're customer service is way better. Remember Alienware is owned by Dell.
