  • hvor er dette?

  • what's this song called? i miss doing hula & stuff <3

  • i miss home....

  • im glad im cook island

  • I practice caribean dances and believe me, this is the most tiring thing in the world.

The dance itself it's not that hard, but u can tell you're working out while u perform it!

  • without shoes you can dans the best

  • ooooh yes!!!!! magnifique !!! :)

  • What a great advertisement for the Cook Islands - through these fantastic images, music & dance! Whilst I've been to Tahiti(1995/1996) enjoyed some Mai Tai's & other cocktails and many other happy moments there, it would be nice to maybe visit the cook Islands to enjoy what they have - some of their own hospitality. Equally supporting the local economy in a little way but important one look on it as an education...music, dance, sport & food is something we can all share & enjoy.Thnx 4 posting!!

  • This is my new favorite thing to watch! Awesome drums, scenery and dance routine!

  • I really cant stand how people say that this is tahitian dancing.. do you no why? because for one.. Tahitian dancing is blatantly stolen from Cook island as is the drumming.. it irritates me how people say that the Cook islands are Tahitian dancing when its the other way around.. The French were too busy obliterating the native Tahitian culture that very little of it survived..

  • @cuppachachu--> i totaly agree with you m8!!

  • @cuppachachu ...Yeah, I just started doing some research and so far it looks like the drumming and dance originated in the Cook Islands, not Tahiti. :D

  • @cuppachachu I used to dance this....I used to call it Tahitian.... Sooo what's the proper name lol??

  • @HaVVaiianVVarrior tahitian and cook island dancing both very similar, if not, theyre the same. More popular vibrate, exciting sexy than any of the other pacific islands cultural dancing ( wont mentio any names lol )

  • @grumps1007 Soo....what's the proper name for it is what i'm asking lol. Since i used to dance this, i would like to call it by its proper name out of respect.

  • @cuppachachu oh dear, i see and hear what your saying but to who ever had it first theyre the only 2 islands in the pacific that have the best dancing drumming songs, costumes to watch and listen! THATS FOR REAL!

  • It's better than hip hop

  • Its such a work out to dance on the sand

  • the spanish guitar from wheelman would have gone perfect with this dance

  • You can buy the complete dvd and cds from Agape Passion 134 Onehunga Mall Rd, Onehunga, Auckland. Cds can also be bought from there :)

  • amazing i love my home land (:

  • are the cook island dances identical to tahitian dances? i can't tell a distinction between the two...

  • makes me proud to be an islander

  • dis dance is just superb.....rili nice!!!!!!

  • i like the skirts there so cool!!!!!!

  • Please, what is the difference with tahitian dance?

  • @rouhania976 Cook Island dancers dont open their legs when they dance and they dont move around the stage(more stationary) as much as Tahitians do. Ck island dances is viewed as a more traditional version of polunesian tamure dance whereas Tahitian has so much modern in it now. CI dancers stage their legs close together throughout the dance when they dance unlike Tahitian dancers. Tahitian dancers claim they also stage their legs together but youll see more open legs in Tahitian than Ck island

  • @upwdat Thanks! I'm doing a bit of Tahitian dance, so I know what it looks like, but I didn't notice the legs were more closed in Cook Dance :) I'll look closer! and I'll watch your links :) thanks again!

  • @rouhania976 Here is a Tahitian dance that shows that open leg "stance and movement combination" that is non-existance in Cook Island dance. You you will notice the difference if you look more at the foot work rather than the hips. Listen for tha drum variation as well and you will see the BIG difference.

    Tahitian

    watch?v=lxksnZ9ai38&feature=related

Again, Cook Island dance is more "stationary". like the video above and the link below.

    Cook Island

    watch?v=axsxQyN9Hag

  • @MaluluKeleGuiSila Thanks :)

  • @rouhania976 The other big difference is their drum beats. watch this link watch?v=GOu0SeSKfkE&feature=related and note the difference btwn cook island and tahitian. Tahitian move around the stage alot, they open their legs alot, they dance on toes more, their drum beats are difference. cook islands are more stationary, foot flat on floor alot, drum beats is different. heres another cook island dance watch?v=UCkjJfE5g4g&feature=related hope that helped

  • @rouhania976 heres a tahitian dance watch?v=dSRWNYz8rL0&feature=related ....notice open legs and dance on toes quite often....

  • 'u'i no oe! beautiful...yes I see unison in the execution of motion dancing as one unit as much as possible..just like in a hula halau you both move as a unit then at times the individual nuances are brought out....again 'u'i=beautiful...aloha no , Reno.

  • , sorry mate , tahitians dont move like us , and for sure cant even drum like our boys. their drumming is untidy and dnt really make sense.

  • Powerful! Good energy!
