@DesertS7orm No, this is also another live version. (The one they played for the Heima DVD) As far as I know this is the best version anyway, but they actually recorded a studio version as well. I think it was on the japanese version of Heima or something. I could be totally wrong but I heard that a studio version exists as well.
Anyway, you can find a MP3 DVD Rip of the Heima version from the Heima DVD if you google it. (Maybe even the studio recording somewhere)
That's not the same one, the studio recording has Icelandic lyrics and is only available on the Japanese import of MSIEVSE. If anyone has that release, I'd love for you to upload that version of Heima to YouTube.
@jhillst If you can find the Hljomalind single (the song previously known as Rokklagid), the studio version of HEIMA is on there. Alternatively, you can PM me and I can send you an mp3 of it.
That's me in the yellow T-shirt in front of Jonsi at 1:36-1:40. It's also my (and my mate's) trainers on the stage in front of him. No kidding. And he punched me at the aftershow party (not intentionally - he was being matey but he was also very drunk).
sigur are one of those special bands who manage to connect with their listeners on many emotional levels. they also prove that if the singer and band believe in what they are performing and emotionally connect, then the audience will follow their lead! there really is a song for every occasion as well as every emotion! a very Very special Band!!!
I was - right in front of Jonsi. It's such a boast but I think you'll agree it was something to boast about! I'm the one in the yellow T at 1:36-1:40.
@mozam007 Mwa-ha-haa! Dare I also tell you I was front row at the massive Reykjavík gig in 2006 and the very next day was looking round their studio? Check out my channel - there's masses of SR things on there, mostly things I did myself but a few TV captures as well. :o) Don't worry about the swearing... I know I'm being a smug bastard about it all!
The most acoustic sound my delicate big ears have heard for a long time, reminds me of the coctaue twins through my headphones on a beach in portugal many years ago, for that moment walking along that beach, alone. If you ever come to wet england and need a singer ill be there.
what's so amazing about sigur ros is the amount of passion and emotion that goes into every song, you can tell that they put their heart and soul into their music which isn't all that common these days.
And yet other artists say they too put their heart and soul into the music, yet fail anyway. What´s special about sigur ros is their very ambitious music but the total lack of pretentiousness about them. They are impulsive beings, and don´t intellectualize about the music. That´s why it´s so pure and utterly magical, i believe
I like the movie version better too... it has piano. Tragically, you can't find it on ANY of their CDs, not even the one being released on June 23/24.
I love this song. I prefer the other acoustic version but it's always beautiful. I expect it will be a single of the next album. If it isn't, it should be.
Why does the guy say it isn't called Heima? This song IS Heima. It's on the Bonus DVD menu under "Álafoss" because thats where their studio is. It was recorded especially for the film I believe. It weird how I think it feels very...homely... like warm and stuff, seeing as the tite means 'at home'
At last I've found this song! I heard it on the BBC Electric Proms and have been looking for it every since! Probably one of the most haunting pieces I've ever heard.
A friend of mine sent me the BBC performance showing Sigur Ros. I didn't find any information on this particular song. This song is not part of any of their other albums; however, Sigur Ros did release a two disc album along with the DVD release of Heima. Unfortunately, this song was not on the disc release either. I any one knows any information on this song, please reply.
yeah if you torrent search heima movie, some guy uploaded all the audio from the bonus disk from the film heima... which contains an mp3 version of this song
wow your a legend for putting this on... i was at this concert, and i think it was most amazing and touching performance ive ever witnessed... i got to hug jonsi goggi and kjartan after as well!!
Does anyone have the translation of this song? thank you.

Exactly, it's beautiful because you have to find the emotion in the music rather than in the lyrics.

Well Sigur Ros has worked with Radiohead in the past, and Radiohead considers Sigur Ros as a major influence to their own music.
