I also made a much more crude field strip video (so you know I actually have one) and I freaking love this pistol. Since posting my video I've taken this weapon to 4 different countries with four different climates and conditions and this weapon has not malfunctioned even 1 (ONE) time.
I know when I pull this weapon from my rig it will fire every round in the magazine without question. I wish my rifle was this reliable!
My fave is the Beretta M9. It's my bedside gun. I have shot many Glocks and I do like them, but I can't justify buying one when I have so many other guns that fill out the Glock's would-be role.
so fast haha i know this isnt really anything to compare 2 but i stripped my m1 garand the other day for the first time in a very long time and it came apart in seconds had it back together in about an hour
im actually looking to buy this same gun. do you know any websites that might have one used? iv been looking for one for a while now but cant seem to find one.
The gun is not loaded. The mag is loaded. If the gun were loaded, then pulling the trigger during the disassembly step would have put a hole in my wall.
Hi great vid, I was thinking of getting either Berreta's Px4 storm(.45), or the XD(.45). My boss says he would go with the XD, but I kinda want to lean towards the Px4. Which pistol has the most pros vs cons you think? I saw that feeder wear on your other vid of the px4, anything like that happen with the xd? What do you suggest?
Although I don't have a PX4 45, if their 9 is any indication, it should be a great gun. It's hard to beat the XD's capacity, but I think Beretta has (or will have) more support for their PX4, as in parts availability. Then again, maybe the XD is so good, you won't need spare parts (at least for a while); I haven't done any extensive durability testing on either gun myself. The differences in firing system is a major consideration too. I suggest trying both as range rentals first and then decide.
Yes! It's a fantastic defensive piece. The grip is very comfy and should accommodate most hands. Reliability is very high. Never had a prob with it. Only prob is that product support might be slow. Springfield doesn't sell all the little parts to civies. So if you should need a part, you might have to send the whole gun in (waste of time). Companies like Beretta have no such restrictions on their flagship pistol the M9; you can get every little spring and pin somewhere on the net.
Oh I shot an XD today. It was nice. I have never shot a Glock, or XD for that matter, and I really liked it. I would go for a .45 in XD configuration I think. I would have to research different models, barrel length, etc. I don't know as I would use it as a carry gun, too bulky IMO. However, I already have a Kimber Pro TLE II with a 4" bbl I use as my carry gun. Good guns Springfield Armory makes. Nice vid. Well done. Thanks.
I've shot my friend's 19 a lot and some range rentals. Never tried +P in it, there's a popular internet rumor about kabooms with glocks and non-standard ammo. Seems to eat the regular pressure stuff just fine tho.
Good video. I love my XD-9...and its ease of dis-assembly is one of the reasons. The only thing I would have added to that, since you were pretty thorough, is that its good to do a function test after you have the slide back on the frame. I usually cycle the slide 5 or 6 times fast, then check to make sure the trigger works. Dont want to put a full mag in, need it, and realize something is bound up. Otherwise great vid man!
teh only thing you forgot to mention was that when you remove the slide from the frame, you should make absolutley sure that your thumb will not catch the takedown lever, as if that rotates, say goodbye to the slide's finish.
Thanks for an excellent video: informative, concise, and a nice, clear picture.

I'm kinda glad I don't see a glock in your collection. Which is your go-to pistol? which one is your favorite?

I think it's hilarious how some people assume a loaded mag in the gun makes it hot. Lol, nice vid man!

You're exactly right. Always good to verify function after reassembly. Especially if you're gonna carry the gun to protect you.

taking down that XD is almost as easy as taking down my Ruger P97DC! ( thumbs up )...those XDs are lovely firearms!
I like the Compact stainless slide version ( thumbs up )
