Hi, I climbed the Glockner myself last year but there was not very much snow, it was in late August. In what time of the year did you climb it? PS: great video!
When I was up there (2 times so far) there was always a crowd. I was starting very early in the morning (four or half past four), but there were a lot of people starting earlier. When did you start ?
@bachtube11 Hi, thanks for your comment. We actually started quite late at about 9:30am from the studdlehutte. When we woke in the morning it was in the middle of a lightening storm, so we had to wait for it to clear. At one point I thought we weren't going to get a clear spell, but then it started to ease so we went for it. As we approached the Erz Johann hut it cleared with blue skies and as we left the summit, the cloud came back over, so we got our timing perfect!
fantastic video mate. I climbed it in 2010 in July as well. It looks like there was a lot more snow in your video! Unfortunately bad weather only allowed us to reach the KLeinglockner, the little peak next to the main one, and slightly lower. How was the little stretch in between? It looks like cheating death haha
@krundia325 Hi, thanks for your comments. The bit leading down to gap between the 2 peaks is protected with an iron railing to hold onto. For the arete between the 2 peaks, you walk with one foot either side of the snow ridge and there's a steep drop either side and the lines you feet are on are only wide enough for your boots, so it's quite thrilling. The climb up to the summit is then an easy scramble. It is well worth another visit in good conidtions to complete the climb. Happy climbing
@UTennVols88 wow! i remember thinking that I was alreedy there and then staring at the deep gorge we had to overcome! Is tehre any way to stop you falling at teh part where it is only wide enough for your boots? OH I would love to do it again, but damn it was exhausting.
Amazing Andy - a long journey indeed. I'd submit it to your charity so they can see what you did for them. Wish I was with you at the top, I'm sure it was was emotional after such a big effort

@misterseadog Cheers Col, it was excellent to reach the top, especially after I thought I had messed up with the altitude sickness.
