It's interesting how all that happened and why? Because GLaDos wanted to keep Chell suffering through her tests. Odd part is, villain or not, deleted personality or no, Glados has the ability to care to some extent, and ultimately she almost was undone for good due to her own flaws in her intelligence. Lucky for her she DID finally realize that if she didn't let Chell go, she'd likely be going through the same ordeal again.
