rented one of these...its crap. the engine doesnt pull, it sounds horrible, no rear legroom and you hit your knee all the time on the lower front panel. i can push every body panel in, and the bottom front panel can be pushed prom side to side. my 2002 mazda tribute handles better, rides better, is more practical, just as economical, and is faster. i hate dodge

Is it bad to say a 1/2 ton handles better is quicker and has a better ride quality.I have only seen 1 of these on the road where I live and I think it was the very same rental. There's to much bounce in the suspension and when you hit a bump well hope it wasn't in a corner. This was the 4cly version...

I traded an 09 Camry for a 2011 Avenger and I am VERY pleased. My wife talked me into the Camry, but was the the first one who wanted it gone. This car is no where near as bad as everyone seems to think. Smooth, very quiet, and well built. Our Camry was (This is going to blow your mind) flat out junk. Build quality sucked, and Im pretty sure my push lawn mower had more power. Whether or not our Avenger holds up, we'll see. But it surely can't be any worse...
Steve, perhaps you'll enjoy more the new 2012 Avenger R/T. Seems like overall you thought this was a decent car, but not fully baked in a number of areas and not edgy enough to drive.
Still dying for your review on the new Chargers, hopefully a Road/Track Super Track Pack.
the caliber sucks and this isnt far off...wat old avenger was a fucking coupe not a four door! the only car that pulls that off right was the sexy challenger...this is why i stick with my japanese cars... :D

All things considered Dodge did a good job overhauling this dated vehicle. The interior is great and with the new Pentastar/6 speed auto I would bet it's a pretty decent ride.
I don't understand how the car industry can hold up. I mean, if you go down town or just to your closest highly trafficated road you will see that 90% of all the cars are five years or older. You almost never see brand new cars. And this is coming from Norway which is one of the world's richest countries...
@KapteinFruit Well, when I went to New York, there was dozens of new Mercedes S-Classes. There may not seem to be many new cars around in some places, but in others, there are lots. Cars aren't cheap, either, so massive numbers of sales aren't needed to make massive amounts of money. I saw an R8 V10 spyder, yesterday, for example, and was in a Gallardo and a Porsche Cayenne, which don't sell many, but are still around, due to their high prices.
@KapteinFruit Norway has the worlds oldest car park, cars in Norway is way too expensive, often 3-8 times the price of the same cars in the USA or Germany. Blame taxes!!! Also cars sold in Norway usually average 100 HP, while in USA you get this average sedan with 283 HP! This version of the Avenger would probably cost 5X the US price of 29000 USD (apx. 165000 NOK) in Norway, so write to your government and DEMAND them to lower taxes on new cars!

I'd test its cousin, the Chrysler 200S trim, its top of the line with the Pentastar V-6 which comes standard. EPA 19 mpg city/29 mpg highway.
