we weren't breaking the law. the whale came to us...we had no idea where he would come up. and, he wouldn't be hurt by my boat...they know what they are doing and the engine was off. lastly, they showed no signs of agitation, so we didn't feel threatened...they were enjoying the abundance of krill. it was scary because it was so unexpected and i do know what whales can do to boats, if they choose to be aggressive or playful. so be jealous all you want...i'd be too.
