  • Was Tony on top of his game when he wrote this or what? It's hard to believe that on the DVD interview that came with the remastered CD Tony, while saying it's one of his favorites, rather dismisively says that the middle part "wasn't played as well as she could have been." DUDE! It's a gorgeous, A+, 10 out of 10 classic!

  • Desert? Sand? Moon? Is this song about the middle east?

  • Tony Banks rules

  • Why temporary bands are not able to delvelop such a song. The song contains everything of a sound, good musical product. Simpley perfect.

  • @CrocksManfred I agree

  • this music would sound better if gabriel sang it. it sounds great nonetheless, it's just my opinion

  • Yep, those were the days!

  • Absolutely stunning!

  • Superior audio version! ThX

  • Genesis was and will be one of the greatest bands, I hate when people compare bands and singers, each one of them had and has its own talent and style, they were all amazing, Genesis, King Crimson, Yes, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Queen, Deep Purple, Triunvirat and others, what a privilege to be part of that generation

  • Gabriel was not a god, Genesis was great after gabriel too!

For me banks and hackett were more important.

  • I get sick of you minoins blasting Sir Phil,he is truly legendary.Just listen to "sun and sand".Pure genius.

  • When this record came out I didn´t realize at once that it was Phil Collins singing and not Peter Gabriel, so perfectly well he managed to copy him.

Later Phil betrayed his ideals, whereas Peter Gabriel always remained himself.

  • @Baxxbie I wouldn't say poppy crap like sledgehammer is "himself"...

  • @wwerulestna

You're right, some of Gabriel´s tunes can be qualified as commercial slip ups, but he never tried to ingratiate himself with the audience as much as Collins did and does. Even a song like "sledgehammer" is imbued with a specific crankiness and eccentricity, which Collins sloughed off completely.

  • This and Entangled are tied for favorite song of this album but Entangled wins for favorite Genesis song ever. These years are so overshadowed by their more commercially acceptable or "radio-friendly" 80's era. Its all genius because its Genesis but I love their prog rock years most of all.

  • I wish genesis didn't stop making music like this....i never tire of this song

  • Genesis is great and will be forever,This Record is a late 70's clasic,Takes me back to evenings in high school on a firday night and what might be? Years later still listening with my 2 daughters who like also.

  • When I first heard mad man moon, I knew everything would be just marvelous with Phil at the helm. And of course... I was correct. Thank you so much for the amazing post!!!!!!!!

  • beautiful song with deap meaning, a masterpiece !

  • Timeless music. In those days, Genesis was great.

  • @shelyl Still great

  • @shelyl

For me the best LP of them. Especially the first half, love it.

  • @DaveMcIroy
