Winger is a much more talented artist now that he is older and has matured.I play this every morning to start my day in a calm, peaceful way.Great song to start a mellow,stress-free day.
Many of the artist that became popular in the 80's-90's were under the "hair spray metal" title and Winger definitely had that style. That being said..He is a fantastic musician and his band was great. Reb Beach is a great musician.
Quality music is not necessarily limited to Zappa, Jazz or Classical. And Kip Winger is probably one of the most talented musicians on the modern "mainstream" scene. Now listen to "ghosts" in 2008's "From the Moon to the Sun" and see if that's simple music too.
no doubt this is a great song, however i think it's fucked up how mtv plays mainstream radio-friendly stuff like this which is obviously NOT metal on headbanger's ball.
Just started getting back into winger and found kip doing some cool accoustic versions on here. What an amazing voice and talent this guy has. Great song, im off out to buy Kips solo albums..Cool
Kip is beyond talented. Its a shame kids today cannot appreciate good writing and music. Everything must be easy for them. From making crappy vocals mainstream to etc.......
YOu know for many reasons most of you guys know, I don't watch stations like MTV - Canada's Much Music. Not since I was a kid. Its all junk, i never like to put others work down, but i feel confident in the word Junk for today's music. The other day I thought " you know what i'm going to inject this little hip hop kids with some real talent and request " How far will you go " by kip winger, that or Down Incognito. Sad part, not able to do that anymore. Only pick from shit or bullshit. So sad...
The chorus is also sung one octave higher and cleaner than on Down Incognito. Amazing. I love this song. Humanity in humans is slipping away on a daily basis, yet it's songs like this that kind of restore a little hope in one another. It's an acknowledgement (one of many by Kip) that the world is in need of more care and compassion. Songs that make you think. He's been good for a few of those. (being sarcastic there)
Kip Winger is an absolute genius. His solo work really holds its own ground and as a songwriter, he's simply massively underrated. I personally rank him alongside Neal Morse as one of the greatest songwriter/composers of the past 15-20 years or so. Hope there were more artists like him..hope he becomes real famous..there's still time KIP!!!! (BTW his new solo album is my new favorite disc of 08!)
Great understimated composer & singer, musician overall!, Never thought He would do this good without the incredible licks & solos(Reb Beach), flashy choruses & big sound from the Band... i was wrong...
He's really good.
(I just went 2 his concert last night here in my city)
This song could be a very poignant theme for our governments total failure following Katrina, even though this song was written more than a decade before Katrina hit. I find Kip's writing unintentionally prophesizes life a little bit, as you can see the Hungry video about losing a wife in a car accident happened to him about 8 years later, and then Who's the One speaks often about the damage of war, ironic that he wrote it not long after the most "popular" war in history
This is by far my all time favorite acoustic song. It just can't be done better than this. You can say different things, sing in different keys, and groove to a different drum, but you'll never eclipse this song... you can only hope to equal it.
I hadn't heard this version of this song...Have you heard the acoustic version off the "down incognito" album ?? You should if you haven't...it gives this song a stronger feeling !!!!
one of the few songs on earth that's ever brought this grumpy kid to tears. his best melodic hook ever, and best lyrical message, very poignant, empathic, and human. Anyone that ranks on Kip Winger has never heard this tune, and anyone that can't get it is disconnected from their own humanity.
For you and I who I know are big Winger fans and especially Kip, this song pretty much answers any critics he once if they only listened to this. It sets himself apart from Winger the band, and opens his heart is great song.
120% man. I sent this to my 1st love from high school days and she totally gets it. Some people are just tuned in, and some people spend so much time tuning everything out that the good shit never gets in 'em. This song is good medicine for a fucked up corporate world.
I hear ya.. its in my fav's and I listen to it more than anything else in there. And I got some good stuff in there. He should be singing this song at some carity concert, or awards show.
"Naked Son" from This Conversation (same album) is completely incredible...like progressive world beat Hindu Mojo music...meets Kip Winger. PhanPhuckinTaztik.
Kip Winger has always been under appreciated...he is classically trained and has a touch for melody that just kicks! Reinpret you are sooo right..he should have won some award for this song!! He writes and sings from the heart...take this song for example...a far cry from a lot of the garbage out there nowadays. Gonna see Kip and the boys in February at the Stone Pony in NJ...CAN'T WAIT!!! KEEP SINGING KIP...AND I'LL KEEP LISTENING!!
yes for sure. Touch for melody is the right way to put it. Even alot of the Winger Songs have a great rock melody in them. Have fun at the Concert.. it should be great.
don't you get upset at this never ending story. When will Kip / and Winger for that matter get the props from the fans, rather then just the music lovers you know? it always bothers me.
Awesome! God 80's bands rule!
