I know Blake couldn't just let Al score the game-winner but that was a nasty foul by Griffin. It could have ended much worse, smashing down a player on his back with that speed while in mid air. I think the flagrant is just given to make clear it was too dangerous
If the refs call this a flagrant foul they should call the foul dwight had on wade a flagrant as well. I think both were good hard fouls, I just want consistency with the calls.
It was definitely a foul on Griffin. He didn't jump straight up, he jumped into Horford. But you can't blame Griffin for "committing a bad foul." Jordan was obviously beaten on the drive and he had to come over to help. But it's a good thing Horford broke part of his fall. And anyone who thought Horford "cheated using his arm" is clearly blind.
Dude are you not reading? Im saying the way it looked to the ref in live game. You arent some god send genius know it all quit acting like a bigot its an opinion.
you people are idiots! horford grabbing griffin's arm didn't cause the fall it was griffin's jump trajectory that caused that you'd see that in the last replay morons! THE HANDS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FALL! GRIFFIN JUMPED INTO HIM MID AIR THAT CAUSED HIM TO FLIP AND LAND BACK 1ST, IF HE DIDN'T GRAB ON THAT WOULD BE HEAD 1ST! CHECK IT 0:40
Whether it was a flagrant foul or not has no bearing on the outcome of the game, since the call would result in 2 FT's with 0.6 left in either case. The flagrant call simply meant that Atlanta would get the ball back afterward, but 0.6 is usually not enough time for either team to do anything.
If there had been no foul, the result of the play would have been an almost certain 2 points via the dunk.
@andrewherojr. Im saying it looked bad man. Not saying he wasnt making a play on the ball. So dont call me a moron its an opinion. Dont talk shit just cause its the internet. It just looks like a bad hit either way its two free throws
If you look at Horford's arm he is holding on to Griffin causing the so called "follow through". Bad call. Thats just a good hard, game on the line, foul. If it were the 80's that wouldnt even be a foul... haha
@sickestilocan0 that wasn't straight up men! check it 0:40 he jumped into him that's why the fouled was called, horford grab his arm to gain some sense of balance as he was going to flip over. Have you not been hit while in mid air while playing ball?
@BiGBeN21 Griffin is trying to stop the play w/ 3 sec left. He was obviously trying to get the ball. Should he just stand around and let Horford dunk the game winner? Once again, he's going for the ball.
@eb4cd Without making a play for the ball? Are you kidding me? He had his hands straight up in the air which is what you're taught to do? How was that a play on anything other than the ball? I do agree though, it was a foul as he was moving into him when the collision happened but in no way was this a flagrant. Even worse, it was a flagrant that ended up losing them the game.
He followed through making horfords fall even worse. Its a flagrant for the tackle like fall not the hands up. He was fine when his hands were up but then he slammed horford. Thats not a normal foul.
@TWex2121 You are a moron! Look at the video again and you will see that Horford grabbed Griffin and pulled him down to the ground. The contact was body to body which is a foul, but NOT a flagrant foul. Btw, the NBA rescended the flagrant foul after the game.
There is no way that's a flagrant. He had his arms straight up in the air and was going for the ball. Sure, there was a big collision, but it really wasn't as much Griffin's fault as it looked at first.
@limosince2007 Idno where people get this idea.... Just because your body is straight up-and-down doesn't mean it's not a foul. The foul comes from the defender's body coming in and displacing (causing to change direction) the offensive player. They called a flagrant because he flew in from the weak side and went in all-body w/o making a play for the ball.
@MFLOVEify still went after the ball he just didnt expect horford to get that high. refs called a flagrant more so for the violent fall because horford got knocked off balance in midair. positive he didnt aim to flagrantly foul him
That's old skool!
You go hard to basket, get ready to go hard to floor, son!

@BiGBeN21 Look at Horfords left arm as he was pulling Blake Griffins arm down with him. Griffin went straight up. Shouldnt be a flagrant.
