While I LOVE bjork and Radiohead alike... this cover is a bit... off. I like the way thom sings here but it's a bit uneven and he doesn't hit all the notes sometimes, making the song a little less enjoyable for me. I don't know, it sounds like a music student trying to do this cover rather than the thom that I know.

You don't have to be a perfectionist, since we all know that every artist is human and will make mistakes, but I don't understand how if Thom makes a mistake it's "human" and makes the performance more enjoyable, but if someone like Mariah Carey makes a singing error then it's apocalypse now.

I just don't like it, I would prefer a well played version to this, which I do understand may be an off the cuff performance (not perfect ofc, that's impossible). What bothers me is that people try to justify his mistakes/imperfections as something that makes him more special than other artists of the same right. He is one of the most amazing artist, granted, but it's not due to his mistakes- it's due to his genius.

I've got to say, hearing that story where her own fans turned on her this way, and watching all the interviews that treat her like a little girl in the mid 90s, I was in awe of the way Bjork could deal with so much shit and come out saying "you can't say no to hope/ you can't say no to happiness" and make a violent, forceful album that is still optimistic, without ever being bitter, in the end still full of love. Thom would probably be the first to admit he is not that strong.

& til 2007 Radiohead hardly ever did a cover song for public consumption, even live. they've done about 5 Neil Young songs once each, but otherwise, there was one Blondie, one Elvis Costello, one Carly Simon, one Tim Buckley, one Magazine, one Can cover, over 15 years. (plus that Wonderwall thing, and a never-bootlegged live cover of REM's So. Central Rain) apparently they always played lots of covers in private but don't like to inflict it on the public. it was nice that they tried though.

it seems heartfelt, and the stumbling piano *really* fits the spirit of the original. they even said it was a first take and they didn't want to over-rehearse it. however, I do feel the recent batch of covers done by Radiohead, maybe because they are songs/artists so dear to him (Neil Young/Portishead/Smiths/New Order/Bjork) didn't really say anything new like the best covers do, but were more paying homage, so the originals will always be better (the New Order one is so damn great though).
