You see, ALL of us only like this stuff because of the way it looks, and how graceful and fancy the strikes are, but it's TOO fancy and graceful. I don't understand why they can't just BOOM! in the face, or STOMP! on the toes. Why couldn't it have been THAT simple and direct? It would be sad to know all that "this" and "that" and "that" and "this" was for a hit in the face.
@legendaryninja1993 The thing is that it's not too fancy and graceful. This here is a demonstration. If you use the same style in a real fight it doesn't look like that. But you apply the same techniques. As you thougt correctly.. in a real fight the attacks are more simple and direct. But direct punches to the face or toe stomps are easily blocked and wont work against a trained opoenent. This is very all that "fancy" technique helps you to get in there, grab him and break his arms :)
@legendaryninja1993 A real fight between equals involves not getitng hit or both getting hit a lot. Vs a person below you, you could beat them with a few moves, 3 seconds is all it'd take.
Beautiful performance! the only unrealistic part (besides the slight slow down) was the leg positioning if the crane practitioner. the tigers outer leg was right between crane dudes legs. You never want that, if ur in a fight or not. The performance was still great

@crrops its off a hung gar instructional video called "tiger and crane - shaolin kung fu" (1981) by chiu chi ling (kung fu hustle / hung gar master ) it is also directed by lawrence tan (head of the tandao martial arts group)
this is the starting introduction and explanation before the form and applications are shown
@powersurge1999 The reason they do it this way is to show each and every individual move of the style that they perform so that watchers can mimic them better.
couple things id like to see a tiger and a crain fight as animals and in 2 seconds youll see who wins also when i punch it doesnt have a *woooosh* sound >:(
I don't think its actually possible to "master" it as such since any martial art is about progression and learning "/ But if you were asking how long might it take to get a good jist of it...perhaps 5 years...
@DanceroidCPTV masters say that kung fu is not a goal but a journey because it never ends, masters also often say that they have still much to learn, so i think you will spend your whole life in the art and still not find that you have completely mastered it
those are NOT tiger hands. Those who train in Tiger Style Kung Fu spend the first, like, three years hitting wooden poles and bricks to break the tips of their fingers. the fractures at the tips of their fingers are healed by the body, making them hard enough to rip flesh. And they don't feel as much pain in their fingers, either, making it even easier to rip flesh. If that was a real fight, that crane dude would have so much flesh missing.
@VitaNuovaRevolution i want to ask a qustion do you know a name of one of the greatest kung fo masters which mean he knows all or almost all chinesse martial arts is e ven if you dont tell me someone with a good name?
@fgsf9 Ah, I'm sorry, I don't. I get most of my info watching Discovery and History (Which tends to make watching action movies very painful lol). The people they bring in to demonstrate are experts in only a couple fields, which is really what makes them good. From what I hear, though, the ones that know a lot of Asian martial arts are monks and only fight for exercise and to defend. They don't demonstrate. I don't know if they teach. Sorry, I really don't know any names.
besides all these ufc children think mma is wrestling and they think they can rush for ur legs and take u down easily... have u even noticed how quick these real masters are? how flexible? ud be dead the second u rushed in. like they say size means nothing. these guys backflip 6 feet in the air. and could easily evade a wrestler.
ufc is crap that frat boys train for. any master of any real martial art would kill a ufc fighter quick. to compare the two proves how foolish people are. mma is training of ju jutsu muey thai boxing and wrestling. all of which are practiced at your local martial arts dojo. these real martial arts u will search hard for and dedicate LIFE to. you must have honor respect and intelligence. something very few ufc fighters have any of. still looking for a real tiger claw master
@extracredit100 i want to ask a qustion do you know a name of one of the greatest kung fo masters which mean he knows all or almost all chinesse martial arts is e ven if you dont tell me someone with a good name?
@fgsf9 i dont really understand ur question... but i guess to answer it, no i dont know any real expert masters. probably have to go to china for those. or mayb a chinese dojo in san francisco or new york. all i know is use all ur muscles for every strike. its all about body and mind.
@fgsf9 To practise ONE style you need to train more than 10years. And there are more than 50 animal styles ONLY in Shaolin. So you will probably not find anyone who knows all forms. But "Wong Kiew Kit" knows many.
@domination713 the real tiger claw apparently requires that u rake a tree for years until ur hands are calloused to were u can tear the bark off... its like practicing real muey thai kicking trees so ur legs become A.) numb and B.) broken and rehealed so they are stronger then before. after a lot of training u can tear someones leather jacket in half off their chest. muey thai wise ur kick someones leg in half. the tiger claws special was tearing someones throat out. and i beleive heart
They kinda messed up. The crane style is a style more focused on one legged movements, one leg for blocking, or attacking the other for balance, while the hands support. This sucked :[ i can't find a decent crane demonstration anywhere x_x
There are different versions of crane style. I've never actually heard of the crane style you speak of being used. This is actually a great example of tiger and/or crane. Look up the remaining videos in the series.

If you want to train for real fight, train styles that fight without rules. There is no such thing as "rules of engagement" in the streets. Everything goes.
@nabapoisu and bruce lees style was all about just that. do what u can to make sure u arent the one hurt. jeet kun do... u watched him bite people in his movies.
@exemsexis In US maybe, but here there are more rights for the defender, plus u get a few years behind bars IF you really are found guilty in using too much force. But since jail time starts ticking from the moment you are detained for investigation you may have to sit a year less in reality terms. All you have to do is know your rights as a defender, call the medics, send a report to police that you were attacked and in extreme case plant a stick into the opponent's hand.
I feel good when I damage the sorry bloke who attacks me. On the streets there are no rules and I fight accordingly. Tho it takes a lot of talk with the police to justify that as a self defence, but that's why you plant an improvised weapon to the opponents hand once you are done with him.
As for law suits, luckily I don't live in USA, so I have my rights to defend myself and those I love by all means necessary.
As I said before...on the street there are no rules if u like living
@nabapoisu " In real life it feels so good to rip skin off of someone's face using tiger style". LOL OK. so how many faces have you ripped off using your tiger style? or are you just a poseur?
@dxmakina My tiger style? I wouldn't go that far as to create my own Tiger Style. Anyway, haven't literally ripped off any faces, but I did tore the skin off of the right cheek, from the lower eyelid to the lower lip once, and made several incisions on anotherone's arms. But I was attacked by several blokes, so I was forced to scare them off by shreding some skin from those who came first. Tactic that worked to say the least.
Nothing to be particularly proud of, but was necessary.
I'm aware of that m8--I was trying to get that across to the first guy I replied to:) He was saying you don't see it in UFC because it is slow/open..I was saying if you slow down any martial art it'll look slow and open.
well, the sad thing is, that is the reason it doesn't make it into UFC, really. Obviously a lot of people who train up these arts don't really want to get into that sort of thing, but nobody so much as tries to use these in UFC for a reason. A lot of it is very ritualistic and energy-based. I find chinese martial arts very beautiful and graceful, and do not frown upon them. They are simply just not practical, truth be told.
I do disagree with you on CMA not being practical. The reason that they are not in the UFC is you can't train them for 6 months and be competitive. It just goes to different goals--the goal of traditional arts is to end the fight. UFC matches by their very nature (as well as Karate, KungFu, and whatever else sparring) are meant to keep it going. UFC so people can watch/make money off of it and sparring so people can learn. There are ritualistic and energy 'arts' in CMA but not all of them

All you have to do is know your rights as a defender, call the medics, send a report to police that you were attacked and in extreme case plant a stick into the opponent's hand.
Take care and be safe

@111NoOne111

@dxmakina Next time I ask if I can take a picture then, just for your pleasure.

@nabapoisu so how many faces have you ripped off using your tiger style?
dxmakina 1 year ago
@dxmakina My tiger style? I wouldn't go that far as to create my own Tiger Style. Anyway, haven't literally ripped off any faces, but I did tore the skin off of the right cheek, from the lower eyelid to the lower lip once, and made several incisions on anotherone's arms. But I was attacked by several blokes, so I was forced to scare them off by shreding some skin from those who came first. Tactic that worked to say the least.
Nothing to be particularly proud of, but was necessary.
Take care.

Really? Slow down any art to this speed and watch the openings/opportunities to attack multiply exponentially.

this is choreographed, school-specific moves on edited film, not ufc :)

I'm aware of that m8--I was trying to get that across to the first guy I replied to:) He was saying you don't see it in UFC because it is slow/open..I was saying if you slow down any martial art it'll look slow and open.
9sectionwhip 2 years ago
well, the sad thing is, that is the reason it doesn't make it into UFC, really. Obviously a lot of people who train up these arts don't really want to get into that sort of thing, but nobody so much as tries to use these in UFC for a reason. A lot of it is very ritualistic and energy-based. I find chinese martial arts very beautiful and graceful, and do not frown upon them. They are simply just not practical, truth be told.
unin00bster 2 years ago
I do disagree with you on CMA not being practical. The reason that they are not in the UFC is you can't train them for 6 months and be competitive. It just goes to different goals--the goal of traditional arts is to end the fight. UFC matches by their very nature (as well as Karate, KungFu, and whatever else sparring) are meant to keep it going. UFC so people can watch/make money off of it and sparring so people can learn. There are ritualistic and energy 'arts' in CMA but not all of them
