The European Union didn't solely get us in debt, it was banks lending money to people who couldn't afford it. It was taken over by the Government and became government debt.

As for the US, I never said I loved it here, as a matter of fact I was stationed in Germany and like it there because it was quiet and people lived as a community. It is Northern Ireland that is still under British rule. The majority of which was and still is mostly Unionist.

You do know that because your central bank basically prints money, you can therefore lower the interest rates of your banks thus leading to less cost. If you didn't, UK would be down the drain long ago. :)

@kpreston69 The European Union has been a great benefit to Ireland as it opened up more trade routes and gave our business owners more choice on where to buy cheaper products which could then be passed on to the consumer. We also have more strict health and food standards; much higher and more regulated than US standards. The European Union didn't solely get us in debt, it was banks lending money to people who couldn't afford it. It was taken over by the Government and became government debt.
