I agree that a more intimate, humane and educational alternative to the Koh Samui elephant experience would be to take kids to the Elephant Nature Park north of Chiang Mai or to the Elephant Nature project in Surin. Both in Thailand.

This is wrong in so many ways... it's wrong to support animal abuse and it's wrong to subject your child to a potentially dangerous situation. Next try a place like Elephant Nature Park in Chaing Mai, they rescue abused elephants like the baby in this video.
