  • anyone notice that when DeCaprio was doing the fish hook, there were guys trying to pulling him off, but when the camera cuts from Dae-Lewis, there was no one on him until later?

  • @krnxanga The Departed is Scorsese's best film since Goodfellas. No kidding. That's what it says on the back of my blu ray.

  • This is retarded

  • Only in new york

  • I'm here because that heineken light commercial reminded me of this scene, and also because I enjoy good movies lol.

  • @CoasterBeach watch Taxi Driver and Goodfellas..after that Departed goes outta window...dont get me wrong Departed kicked ass...

  • I love how everyone moves the furniture out of the way when they take off their coats lol like they been through it a million times before

  • @HatedProudly back then it was honorable and used to settle disputes , a good bare knuckle fight

  • whats the the name of the song in the background?

  • @Sidewinder5O4 "Morrison's Jig/Liberty"

  • whats this type of fighting called? with that wierd stance?

  • @agodzadza95 Thats old school bareknuckle boxing. This version is a bit exagerated but this was pretty much it. There are a few places that teach this art and its got a pretty brutal history. Think MMA in the 1800s if youre interested I could give you some links.

  • @Themightyblunghole post links please, im interested

  • @agodzadza95 queensbury boxing

  • This scene clearly shows a real irish accent and a fake one... mind you... great movie...

  • 1:27

  • the best part of this fight is being able to watch daniel day lewis as he watches the fight.

  • The song playing in the background is so catchy.

  • By "decent lay," does McGloin mean a decent living?

  • leo is the best actor ever

  • darn it leo was gona break that dudes neck

  • does bill know that amserdam is irish?

  • @lvll138inrs yes, he describes him and his friend as 'sons of bog-eating Irish bitches' at 0:42.

  • Leo kicked ass!!!!!!!!

  • imposters, this is a movie and not a very good one at that, if you think this will control gang activity or marginalize it you have made a serious mistake and i dont even live in new york

  • Anybody guessing Bill doesn't know how to read that well, even though he has a silver tongue? "Ghoul...? That's a good word. "Ghoul gang slaughters...a fresh...out...outrage in the Five Points," that's a notice you can be proud of."

  • i love the look on the butchers face when he calls him a fiddling benz!! then when he laughs!! epic!

  • @christophersboy I know right i notice that every time i see the movie cause even hes like Wtf does that mean?

  • @MovieHound17 i have no idea what fiddling benz means ? magroin tells him its pretty much a scumbag who steals but ? its funny never the less lol!!

  • I like this, this is how two real men should fight, unlike today it is gangbangs and using of weapons. Just a simple battle of fisticuffs and spiked footwear.

  • Fucking Art! I love this film.... But didn't much like Leo before this, now he aint so low on my shit list... DDL makes this shit possible.

  • "Ladies and Gentlemen, Bill the Butcher has called a stop to this contest at 3:07 of the very first round. Declaring the winner by jaw pull. Leonardo DiCaprio!!"

  • so awesome

  • dicaprio has surprisingly good 1800's boxing technique

  • It's kind of ironic that Daniel Dae-Lewis in a villanous role had much better acting than Leo DiCaprio!

  • @xyPERSON

That's not "ironic" in the slightest...

  • @JMoneyYourHoney True. Dae-Lewis is just a better actor.

  • @JMoneyYourHoney To the fact that you even made out what that guy said is beyond me! lol

  • @xyPERSON are you scared of something?

  • @0Purp1e Um...... no, and I gave no indication that I was scared of anything.

  • @xyPERSON watch The Aviator if you want to see good acting from Leo.

  • @xyPERSON sometimes it's more challenging to play a villain than a hero

  • @xyPERSON ????????????WTF DOES THAT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO? THATS NOT EVEN IRONIC.

  • ´´ These two are just a pair of bugg eating sons of irish bitches same as you are´´

  • the fact that John C. Railey was in this movie still, to this day blows my mind

  • @aoravec75

    Why?

Ya got his name wrong as well.

  • @aoravec75 WHAT WHY?

  • @aoravec75 who is that guy ?

  • @aoravec75 hes a good actor , hes doesn't just do comedy

  • @aoravec75 Just shows how versatile of an actor he is. Genius.

  • "supposing I AM" haha

  • wish it was still like this...

  • I thought Bill the Butcher killed Leonardo's onscreen father? How come it seems that they he had good relations with Leonardo after he grew up? Anyone knows the storyline?

  • @TurquoiseTheoryProds

    watch the movie

  • @TurquoiseTheoryProds After Amsterdam gets released from Hell's Gate he comes back to the Five Points but Bill doesn't know who he really is...until later in the movie....

  • @parkman35 U dont say lol

  • that combo at 2:28 is crazy!

  • @toxyoxin Nearly, he nearly got fish-hooked by the kid.

  • hah, mcgloin almost got fishhooked by a kid

  • exelente escena, no solo la pelea sino el dialogo también !!! me encanta como se buscan jajaj

  • McGloin cracks me up XD

  • I love that three or four second pause after they've agreed to fight where they just stare at each other and then they suddenly start to take off their jackets.

  • @oki9Sedo Yea me too lol. It reminds me of dogs before they fight, they stare at eachother for like 4 seconds then they fight lol.

  • @KISSMEMYFOOL69

Yeah, its a very funny and tense moment at the same time

  • chizzler 3 up, 36 down buy chizzler mugs, tshirts and magnetsDublin (Ireland) slang for a small child. Can be used in mildly derogatory fashion, or as a term of endearment

  • Can anybody tell me what's the name of the instrument the old man is playing in 2:00? I'd really wanna know. Is that a yangqin? I really don't know, I thought Yangqin was a purely asian instrument. Is it a hammered dulcimer? What's the difference with the Yangqin?

if anybody can enlight me I'd surely appreciate it.

  • @Lartaror its a hammered dulcimer

  • @JMoneyYourHoney Why don't you get the dick out of your ass and stop being so nasty on Youtube. Do you think you're someone special with your 9,000 views and false sense of maturity?

  • @Anthominick

Based on your steadfastness to help the less fortunate, I can only assume either A. you share the same deficiencies B. you're one of the key players in organizations like Jerry's Kids.

Thanks for watching my video; no go prep your soup kitchen for the encroaching holidays, and smile widely for that picture to be posted on gumball machines across the nation.

  • Ha ha "if i knew what in the hell that meant". lol :)

  • hammered dulcimer in this one is truly fitting.

any1 knows more bout the song itself?

  • "This here's Amsterdam, he almost fishhooked McGloin the other day"

  • @britnayfun

The movie was made for adults, not prepubescent little twerps by yourself.

  • @JMoneyYourHoney excuse me you better dont mess with me u sucker . and you don't talk with me like that got it? i think you did huh!!

  • @JMoneyYourHoney adult hood

  • @britnayfun These ARE street gangs moron. These are what you'd call OG's. Alot of this movie is based off actual history.

  • @britnayfun i think someone should stop listening to justin beiber and actually pay attention in school

  • Wish I could find that dulcimer tune somewhere. This scene is so richly atmospheric.

  • What does McGloin call them?? "Fiddling Bends" ?

  • Fidlam Bens, or the plural of Fidlam Ben

  • @Ihateworking1 Thanks.

  • @HipHopJun

    Fidlam Bens

I think it is an old irish term in new york used to describe thiefs who will steal regardless if the victims are dead or alive.

  • What's the name of the instrument I hear in the background?

  • @necrosny

    Oh, it's the hammered dulcimer.

  • Someone know what's the name of that style of "boxing"?

  • @nerex uh i believe it is called bar brawl.

  • @nerex It is called bare knuckle.
