Theres been a lot of study on the effects coyotes have on deer. Most I've read suggest in the areas tested predators are responsible for around 80% of fawn mortality. A recent 5 year study in South Carolina has shown that less than 25% of fawns born in the spring survived until fall and the vast majority were in fact killed by coyotes. One factor thats changed the predator to deer ratio drasticaly in many areas today is how our forests are used.....(continued)

@nthomas0023 The estimate is 600 which is 1200% above the recovery goals set in 1992. This was met in 1994. Even Ed Bangs (USFW fraud) himself explains MI as having very conservative counting methods. Heres how it's done....They divide the Upper Peninsula up into 7 sections....within 1 mile of either side of this section line no wolves are counted....to be counted the wolf has to be in a pack of 4 or more of which 1 or more has to be wearing a radio collar. Nobody knows the true number.

The introduction of these non native Yukon wolves has wiped out the native wolves and decimated the worlds largest elk heard and everything else in its path. In a couple short weeks they will now be delisted in every state. I guess you'll have to import your potatoes! I'm fine with preservation...thats what the taxidermist is for!

Our MIDNR will still be following a 5 year monitoring period with no hunting and only targeting problem packs. This make take some temporary relief off the ranchers but won't do much for wildlife Good luck, I'm afraid it's going to take a lot of pushing from the sportsman to get things done. Theres been a lot of study on the effects coyotes have on deer. Most I've read suggest in the areas tested predators are responsible for around 80% of fawn mortality. A recent 5 year study in South Carolina has shown that less than 25% of fawns born in the spring survived until fall and the vast majority were in fact killed by coyotes. One factor thats changed the predator to deer ratio drasticaly in many areas today is how our forests are used.....(continued)

I've listened to you people for years now...you were wrong then and you're wrong now. Stick around, things are happening very quickly with the wolf issue. Not all wolf lovers want elk to die. Wolves are neither good or bad; they just want to survive. I'm a 12 year old wolf freak, but I'm not like that. Everything has to be hunted in some way, just not hunted to exteintion. I love wolves and I believe you are wrong. I've seen what they can do, so I think is stretching the subject. @SharpnoseWolfy The entire concept of modern hunting and conservation revolves around sustaining healthy populations of game, ungulates and predators alike. Wolves do what they have to to survive but unfortunately the irresponsibility and callousness of the ones responsible for their gross overpopulation are what have brought us to the situation we are seeing today......a disaster and state of emergency. I live in MI where we are 1200% beyond recovery...thats not healthy, thats insanity.

@AntiHuntersLoveMe You are right on that one. Over-population is worse than under-population, in my opinion. I just hope that the management programs in Idaho, Wyoming, and (I think) Montanna (?) don't get out of control. There are just so many people who hate wolves there. You never know what they could do since federal protections got lifted.

@nthomas0023 The estimate is 600 which is 1200% above the recovery goals set in 1992. This was met in 1994. Even Ed Bangs (USFW fraud) himself explains MI as having very conservative counting methods. Heres how it's done....They divide the Upper Peninsula up into 7 sections....within 1 mile of either side of this section line no wolves are counted....to be counted the wolf has to be in a pack of 4 or more of which 1 or more has to be wearing a radio collar. Nobody knows the true number.
