Celebrity news is a way to keep peoples mind off of important things like people dying in wars to support corporate interests. Believe it or not it wasn't always like this. The problem is media outlets are concentrated now among just a few owners and they have a vested interest in supporting the corporate power structure than butters their bread. It is that simple.

This is why I do not buy the tabloids, here in the UK. They have headlines about actors, actresses, what is going on in certain soaps or in some kind of reality tv program. OMG!!! Some singer has his top of and he has gained weight...this must be headline news, not the death of two brave British Army soldiers that die trying to protect a group of Afghan children.
