@pokerbone Lol, wow I guess we know why you don't play classical - because you're ear sucks. Talk about pretentious and arrogant! Look who's talking? Humble enough to call something what it is. You think that audience was impressed? They're all smoring their asses off back there. Get over yourself dickface. Any gigging musician plays what pays, I sure as hell ain't hiring anyone who can't tell when someone's flat or sharp.
It's too bad that things like this don't get out to the general public more. Kathy Griffin taking her dress off gets front page on Yahoo. I know that Allison is a Schilke artist now. Maybe she wasn't completely happy with the Scherzer. Love her sensitive style.
Since Tom Jones or Willie Nelson have I loved such a grand performance on the David Letterman Show! The Paul Schaffer Orchestra sounded kinda sick after this performance.
Great performance by Alison Balsom....such finesse in a rather difficult piece of music. The members of Orchestra of St. Luke's were also fantastic and really captured the essence of the Baroque period in their performance.
@V1de0Luvr ~ that's correct ~ it is track 6 from her "Italian Concertos" album. Anyone interested in hearing clips from her album can check them out on Amazon.com. Enjoy!
@jonnybogue I agree. This is really entertaining, and it's good quality music...unlike most of the boring "generic" bands/singers that are on his show.
@FemmedOrchestre So this was track 6 from the CD - III. Allegro- [Oboe] Concerto in C minor? I will be posting my 1080p capture shortly and wanted to get the name right.
I fell asleep while watching tv and I happened to wake up last night just in time to see this performance. What a pleasant surprise! That woman knows how to play a trumpet like nobody's business. I know the album is italian concerto, does anyone know the name of this song? A great song to kick back, relax and unwind to.

Oh she's very good. But I'm not sure of the demand for classical trumpet players and a travelling mini orchestra.

I didn't know Letterheads audience cared about classical music. Wonder if Dave tried to hit it?

This is actually an Oboe solo: Marcello's Concerto.

holy crap--they actually had a (very!) talented musical performer for a change! Most of the bands they have appear on the show are crap, IMHO.

The piece played was the "Allegro" (3rd movement) of Marcello's "Oboe Concerto in C minor". It was arranged for the trumpet by Ms. Balsom herself.
