My truck is a 8500 lb 4x4 22 foot long truck. Trust me I know what it can do and what it can't. @wickedklwn1 this focus is a stock 1.8 or 2.0 block. with stock internals and was never built to run a turbo on it. so bolting a turbo and running it without blowin it up is an achivement. never mind tryin to double the boost on it.
@xXRosscoUkXx The focus models are all 2.0L engines. He had the hood open. So, I can tell you this particular one has the 2.0L Zetec 16 valve twin cam. What a lot of people fail to realize, is most engines are not putting out their optimum performance on stock internals. They are tuned way down. I wouldn't go much higher than 6psi, without changing the fuel curve a bit more. Not all turbo kits are massive. The ones that put out 30psi, absolutely will blow the engine. Pick up a wrench more.
@FTORC1 well over here (scotland) u get 1.4 and 1.6 zetec se and 1.8 and 2.0 zetec e (engine featured) and also a 2.0 duratec (170bhp) and i am aware that engines are tuned lower because my 2.0 st that is superchaged. with full S/S custom 2.5" straight through system and custom remap is kickin out 330bhp on stock internals. also a have a 2.0 zvh that i built ma self running 250bhp. get to know your fords better son.

I know my Fords pretty well, son. Most notably, the 2.3L SOHC intercooled turbo Thunderbird engine. Perhaps you may know it better, from the Merkur or the Mustang SVO. You ABSOLUTELY, can run without adjusting the curve when BELOW 6psi boost. 6-10, needs more fuel. 10psi+, recommend bottom end build. Got it?

@xXRosscoUkXx No. The Pinto was a different model. We had the Pinto here, also. The Thunderbird was the midsize car. Looked a lot like the Mustang, but larger. If you do a search on a 1988 turbo coupe Thunderbird, I owned 2 of those. I could've swore you had the Merkur. The model was XR4Ti, that had the 2.3L SOHC turbo engine. Here, the Pinto was discontinued in 1980, replaced by the Escort.
@FTORC1 the only car a can think of is the sierra. they done a xr4i version but it was a 2.9v6 cosworth. they stopped makin the pinto engine over here round about then. that engine ur talkin about the 2.3. over here that is a pinto engine. but the yous have strapped a turbo to it.
@xXRosscoUkXx Yeah. The 2.3L Ford was used in several different models here. The Thunderbird turbo and the Mustang SVO just happen to be turbo charged. They still make the 2.3L here, but it's a duratec. The original version, has a high reputation for being extremely durable. They used it in the Ranger, Bronco II, Thunderbird, Mustang, Pinto, Tempo, Fairmont, and sister cars of the Mercury variety. The Mustang was both turbo and non-turbo. Thunderbird was turbo only, and the rest were N/A only.
@FTORC1 na the only duatec's u get here now are the 1.8, 2.0(4cyl) and the 2.5 turbo (5vyl volvo) oh and the 2.5 and 3.0 v6 all duratec's. the pinto was used in pretty much every ford untill the 1980 then it died out and was replaced with the twin cams and the first of the silver top zetecs.
@xXRosscoUkXx That's a bit confusing for me. Here, the Pinto was a car. It was available with a 2.0L and a 2.3L until the model was discontinued in 1980. It was a rear wheel drive, 2 door hatchback. It was replaced by the Escort. A front wheel drive hatchback. Which, the Escort was replaced by the Focus. However, the old style SOHC 2.3L was used until 2004. It was replaced by the 2.3L duratec in 2005. I guess we use things longer.
@FTORC1 pinto was an engine over here and it came in a 1.6 1.8 2.0 and 2.3. we had nothin here before the escort. first escort was built in 71 a think then it went on till 1998 then replaced with focus.

my focus zetec with 154xxx miles on it does a 1/4 in 15.3 and considering i have minimal mods on it.....intake, some after market plugs and wires and about 250lbs in weight reduction......weight is key especially in a non high hp car. bradley i bet if u took off some weight u could easily have ur focus in the high 14s maybe even the mid 14s

Hey Im thinking about doing a focus turbo build too. I was wondering did you change the internals of the engine like the pistons or are they stock. Also can the car be used as a daily driver now?
Depends on which motor you have in your focus, im running a turbo with my 03 zx5 w/ zetec motor, the internals are good to about 250hp after that your looking at snapping your piston rods. Im putting down 210whp on all stock internals, just make sure you do everything else right. Get a pro to do your tune. My car is a daily driver *except for winter* Ianwatson thinks you need a new clutch and fly wheel...BS you can run your stock clutch for about a year and it will work fine. As for the fly
is used to cool down the air from the turbo before it gets to the engine. turbo`s are compresing air and if the air is being compressed it gets hot. if u get hot air into engine it increases chance of detonation (uncontrolled combustion which damages the engine). if air is hot it expands... so u need that radiator to cool it down so u can get much more air into your engine.... bla bla long story :P
14.7 with a turbo? im pullin a 14.9 NA, just headers, exhaust, cold air, fuel injectors, throttle body and a tune...probably should make some adjustments
Have you ever had a line lock before? If you did, you would know what an advantage they are to an e-brake. An e-brake only puts a slight emount of pressure on a brake rotor. How could it put a lot of pressure? It's only cable operated. A line lock puts the full braking force of the caliper on the rotor and keeps it there. MUCH better than an e-brake. Plus you can do the burnout in 2nd and keep the intake temps from rising killing your efficiency and times.
Ok I think you missed the point, with a properly adjusted e-brake it'll lock the rear wheels. Most peoples problem with FWD cars is that there isn't enough weight over the rear wheels so the it will just drag the car.
A line lock is usually used on front engine rearwheel drive vehicles so they don't burn up the rear brakes.
you have a common misconception of what a line lock is for, though that is a benefit. It is for proper tire heating without over revving the motor or losing intercooler efficiency, in the case of a power adder.
You forgot to mention they're used for preloading the clutch also, I know what line locks are and what they're used for and that they're unneccesary like I said with a properly adjusted e-brake in a FWD car.
Also a lot of people with FWD cars that they drag just put a hydraulic e-brake so it will hold more pressure than a cable operated one.

If you do a search on a 1988 turbo coupe Thunderbird, I owned 2 of those. I could've swore you had the Merkur. The model was XR4Ti, that had the 2.3L SOHC turbo engine. Here, the Pinto was discontinued in 1980, replaced by the Escort.

@FTORC1 the only car a can think of is the sierra. they done a xr4i version but it was a 2.9v6 cosworth. they stopped makin the pinto engine over here round about then. that engine ur talkin about the 2.3. over here that is a pinto engine. but the yous have strapped a turbo to it.

@xXRosscoUkXx Yeah. The 2.3L Ford was used in several different models here. The Thunderbird turbo and the Mustang SVO just happen to be turbo charged. They still make the 2.3L here, but it's a duratec. The original version, has a high reputation for being extremely durable. They used it in the Ranger, Bronco II, Thunderbird, Mustang, Pinto, Tempo, Fairmont, and sister cars of the Mercury variety. The Mustang was both turbo and non-turbo. Thunderbird was turbo only, and the rest were N/A only.

@FTORC1 na the only duatec's u get here now are the 1.8, 2.0(4cyl) and the 2.5 turbo (5vyl volvo) oh and the 2.5 and 3.0 v6 all duratec's. the pinto was used in pretty much every ford untill the 1980 then it died out and was replaced with the twin cams and the first of the silver top zetecs.

@xXRosscoUkXx That's a bit confusing for me. Here, the Pinto was a car. It was available with a 2.0L and a 2.3L until the model was discontinued in 1980. It was a rear wheel drive, 2 door hatchback. It was replaced by the Escort. A front wheel drive hatchback. Which, the Escort was replaced by the Focus. However, the old style SOHC 2.3L was used until 2004. It was replaced by the 2.3L duratec in 2005. I guess we use things longer.

my focus zetec with 154xxx miles on it does a 1/4 in 15.3 and considering i have minimal mods on it.....intake, some after market plugs and wires and about 250lbs in weight reduction......weight is key especially in a non high hp car. bradley i bet if u took off some weight u could easily have ur focus in the high 14s maybe even the mid 14s

you dont have to. you would need a new clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, etc... however. Over 10 you may want to get forged internals.

Depends on which motor you have in your focus, im running a turbo with my 03 zx5 w/ zetec motor, the internals are good to about 250hp after that your looking at snapping your piston rods. Im putting down 210whp on all stock internals, just make sure you do everything else right. Get a pro to do your tune. My car is a daily driver *except for winter* Ianwatson thinks you need a new clutch and fly wheel...BS you can run your stock clutch for about a year and it will work fine. As for the fly

is used to cool down the air from the turbo before it gets to the engine. turbo`s are compresing air and if the air is being compressed it gets hot. if u get hot air into engine it increases chance of detonation (uncontrolled combustion which damages the engine). if air is hot it expands... so u need that radiator to cool it down so u can get much more air into your engine.... bla bla long story :P

You don't need a line lock for FWD, just pull the e-brake.

Have you ever had a line lock before? If you did, you would know what an advantage they are to an e-brake. An e-brake only puts a slight emount of pressure on a brake rotor. How could it put a lot of pressure? It's only cable operated. A line lock puts the full braking force of the caliper on the rotor and keeps it there. MUCH better than an e-brake. Plus you can do the burnout in 2nd and keep the intake temps from rising killing your efficiency and times.

Ok I think you missed the point, with a properly adjusted e-brake it'll lock the rear wheels. Most peoples problem with FWD cars is that there isn't enough weight over the rear wheels so the it will just drag the car.
A line lock is usually used on front engine rearwheel drive vehicles so they don't burn up the rear brakes.

you have a common misconception of what a line lock is for, though that is a benefit. It is for proper tire heating without over revving the motor or losing intercooler efficiency, in the case of a power adder.

You forgot to mention they're used for preloading the clutch also, I know what line locks are and what they're used for and that they're unneccesary like I said with a properly adjusted e-brake in a FWD car.
Also a lot of people with FWD cars that they drag just put a hydraulic e-brake so it will hold more pressure than a cable operated one.
