being a druid, this one sounded so much like nature, a place of warmth and life, filled with trees, waters, and filled with peace, the opposite of its surroundings (remember, WotLK) which were the cold, frozen mountains or tundras of the dead or damned, trampled on by warring nations, (Alliance, Horde, Arthas' Scourge, Dragonfligts, Ebon Blade, Argent Crusade, etc) , which is why i think i like it so much
While flying through Sholazar, I was constantly tabbing into windows to see if I had some older "Tales of..." track running in Winamp. This was really never a theme that fit entirely into WoW, but it's great and chilling nevertheless.
WoW always had a good few decent tracks, and Cataclysm has introduced a whole bunch more, in a more vibrant vein than many of the more ambient tracks. It's worth checking out ^^
This is one of the FEW ones in wow that is actually worth hearing tbh, I always play with music HIGH volume % ambience about 30% higher and sound about 70% lower then music to balance it. Since blizz shoves it so far back all you hear is gankers. And most of it is.....well iffy at best. This one is NOT! I always liked this
It's a shame that World of Warcraft's music is so under appreciated. I'm surprised whenever I hear people don't play the game without sound or music, when having both running at the same time can make some of the most epic battles in the game escalate to an entirely new level.
A perfect example of this is Yogg-saron. If your guild decides to check him out again, be sure you turn your sound and music on. It'll blow your mind.
the most spiritual and moving music i have ever heard in my life, truly an epic... peaceful, calming, and defiantly a favorite by millions who play this game, by people who are fanatics of spiritual, calming music of this world... Thank you Blizzard for creating this awesomely epic music :)
When I frist played in that area I muted all the sounds but the music to enjoy it... It reminded me of Golden Sun... dunno why... WoW has many very good songs... and others very boring...
Outland actually sported quite a library of music. A lot of the music was quiet and didn't have a melody you could quite grasp, evoking Outland's desolate atmosphere, so that could be why you simply didn't notice the songs. The music played on all zones and special areas (towns, factions and other triggers). Songs also varied in zones according to time of day for areas with a day and night sky (see Nagrand) -- a sign of the game's attention to detail.
Blizzard said the reason for not making the music too complex in old wow and tbc is that because people would have to listen to it so many times they would get fed up of it.
while in reality, the music in ragnarok online was awesome (and complex) and I still listen to it even though it SUCKED as an MMO. and I always turned off the music in wow and put on winamp or something on the background :p
I remember the first time I heard this song while questing at one of the dragonshrines in Dragonblight. Truly epic moment. :) This + the Wintergrasp bgm are my favorite from the WotLK soundtrack.
World of Warcraft does have a very good soundtrack, alot of people dont believe that but its the same quality and care as Blizzard has always used for their games.
That feel when Sholazar Basin and Grizzly Hills have amazing tracts and are played in sequence.
One of the best parts of leveling.

I was amazed by WotLK music ( left 1 month before release ) but
I have to say : pre-BC and TBC music made me sick after a few months, I started gathering my own music list from other games to make up.

Glad that in WoLK a few zones have memorable background tracks.
Most of the old world and TBC zones were completely forgettable... doesn't help that some had NO bg music either.
