As always you will see no mention of things like a power unit, hard drive, optical drive, operating system, anti-virus software, cables and a lot of other odds and ends that it takes to build your own.

I've build computers for 20 years, I understand the allure. But these days I have neither the time or the want to build my own any more. Now I just pick up the phone, box shows up, I start gaming. For $1k you can build a barely decent machine to be honest and you will still have to take time and patience to source your materials. Like I said there is no such thing as overpaying. It all what you can afford personally. People who can afford a rolls don't think they overpaid.

@mayamanign Very true except i only built computers for about 10 years, it's all what you are willing to pay and if people would take time to look up the prices at newegg tigerdirect / compusa crucial list just goes on, at the time i bought this i did the math it was only a $2 difference and that wasn't including water cooling so in reality i got my moneys worth. But i got a hell of a discount too which not many people can get.

It is the same concept, most car problems can be fixed easily and a hell of a lot cheaper than any place that will do it for you, but do you want to take the time to read up and fix your self or would you have someone fix it for you. @mayamanign Building computers is a lot cheaper and you get more for your money. I have nothing against buying an alienware, but you can build a very mean system for $1000 that runs games very smooth and nice. You can also build a nice $1500 machine that would cost you $2500 from a company like Alienware or Northwest Falcon. I am past the age will I will ever buy a pre-built system, because building computers is easy and cheaper.

You will NEVER need/use more than 6 GB with a 64bit system unless you are using high end video software. I have 12 GB with an i7 980x and never come close to using the memory. Save your money and get a good SSD HD! Looks good!
