  • used to play this out too god im a sad person

  • What was that other big song of hers? The one with the "Doight - doight- doight-doight"?

  • Comment removed

  • @mollthedollbaby That was "Danny's All-Star Joint".

  • @mollthedollbaby "Danny's All-Star Joint" the studio version is now posted on Youtube

  • wow!!!!

  • Her voice is unique and sweet...

  • Somebody ... post more from Pirates ... I so wish I still had it!

  • I still have this album, LOVE her!

  • Steve Gadd killing it as usual!

  • Feel the grove; made possible by Steve Gadd.

  • COOL!

  • bright rays of audio sunshine

  • indémontable ! indémodable ! La classe !

  • This goes out to Jackie Valentine...

  • This goes out to Jackie Valentine...

  • hit #4 pop, #20 AC, #79 in the US (Billboard). How'd it do in the UK? Hope Rickie has wisely quit smokin'. God bless!

  • yeah for an old song it still is cool to listen to with the old people lol...

  • steve gadd on the drums, wow. incredible feel. perfect, relaxed, comfortable, warm, groove backbeat feel. brilliant!

  • i love her and i'm 11

  • i always get to feeling good when i hear this song, it's like a natural high!!!!

  • wow this is a nice song. kinda makes me think of 1979 when my life wuz jist spinning out of control and i wuz turning 21 and going crazy inside. but this is a beautiful tune that i could listen to all day long

  • Thank you for making me feel 30 years younger, if only for three minutes and thirty two seconds.

  • Apparently Ricky's career hit the buffers when she discovered cocaine. Did her in completely, hence the one major hit.

  • It is hard to believe that when this song first aired, it was considered a "POP" song. It is too dawm good of a piece of musical art to be in the top 40.

  • I love this song. also her..

  • This song is so addicting and fabulous. Wish the pop artists of today would make more of this kind of music. I wasn't around in the 70s(or the 80s for that matter)but after hearing this song I gotta say I have major respect for Ricky Lee.

  • The song and the vocal is still spot on and this is a classic song.

  • kiss kiss all

  • I never realized she's such a skilled vocalist

It's different hearing a pop classic 30 years later as an adult

  • hihi my name is chuck

  • wow! takes me back to my school days..thanks for the memories ricky lee. well done!

  • Undoubtedly her trademark song,& still a gem to listen to even after three decades since it was first released!A great feel-good song!

  • one of the 500 albums of all time that iwould take to a desert island......with agenerator )

  • In total acquiesence, a beautiful, aesthetic song.........

  • ratatoullie....still haven't seen it Tex

  • Chuck E's In Love.

  • lmao sheryl crow isnt in the same catagory as ricky lee...sheryl is an amatuer compared (plus she cant sing!!)

  • @wahinetoa777

So please invite your friends to give him a lot of "thumbs down" as he invited his only friend to thumb down your opinion in my comments.

As we - you and me - share the same opinion.

  • @wahinetoa777 THE Truth!

  • I would love to hear Crow do this!!

  • Because you are a little boy, seriously in love with a far away idol.

  • Um not a little boy by any mean!!! And Crow is not my only Idol!!!!!

  • Ok, big boy, so you are quite too busy (regarding idols) to know anything about music, Rickie and Steve Gadd.

Being impressed by idols is privileg of youth.

Older people should judge the singer.

    Bang, you are out!

  • If I have said it once, I will say it again... before there was a Shery Crow, there was Rickie Lee Jones....a true classic right here; thanks for posting!!!

  • Does she get a few extra points for the beret? lol

  • @TLDavisJazzChannel

....and before that there was Joni, the one who they both imitate and cite as an influence.

  • @joeaabernathy Hi there - the ONE Rickie Lee Jones, Joni Mitchell, Suzanne Vega, and COUNTLESS others cited as THEIR inspiration was actually none other than

    the Incomparable LAURA NYRO!

  • way to go with that honky tonk style, infused with soul, turning the words into magic. great style, props to rikkie lee. grat post, thanks for jimmy d, cool photos.

  • excellente rickye j'ai toujours aimé cette interpètre très cool et tellement vivante tout simplement formidable merci pour dernier album

  • rory gallager+ rock bryan ferry mm épok millie johns

    j'ador musik !

  • This song crossed so many boundaries. This used to drop as a 2 step in many of the London reggae clubs and late night blues parties

  • Steve Gadd Is the Bombdigity Baby

  • @MidniteCreeper2012

I've heard him twice this year. Al Jarreau and Randy Crawford. Two events, nearly one and the same band. Joe & Rick Sample.munic/germany/gasteig.

For thirty years there's no discussion about world's best drummer. "50 way" times better than the second.

  • My "Steve Gadd" man There is NO better drummer- Ever- in the world than "THE GADD!!!!!!!!! " Christ I think he's even combed his hair. I actually worked with him Once. He was, late and............."Fuckin' Brilliant" now consider this ..... Ringo on "He Said She Said" ........

  • for my blis donz!!

  • Yes!! it would be nice if you could upload Company too. It's on the same LP. Rickie is the only one that know how to sing that song!!!!!!

  • Hello Goldfinger, Could you please upload the song "COMPANY" it's off the same LP. Thanks.

  • 1979....Went back to my homeplace.. Italy.....for a while...many stories....bought a car......One tune they kept playing on the radio..."Chuck he's in love"....Happened a long time ago.....Rickie....if you ever read this....thanks...I still play this tune today....and always will.....

  • I remember this well.

  • Great song -- Ricky Lee has a smooth clear voice that's cool...........:)

  • For a while there, "Chuck E Weiss and the Goddamn Liars" used to play at The Central (now the Viper Room) on the Sunset Strip every Monday night. He banged out good old Rock 'N Roll every week!

  • love the way this song been put together..........bad as.

  • 1.56: one of the coolest breaks in drum history, as far as I'm concerned anyway

  • I was sitting in my Dad's 1974 Chevy Nova listening to AM Gold radio in the summer of 1979. I was soulfully moved.

  • gadd is so cool

  • you said it; steve's the man

  • i love his druming groovy,,,,,,,the best

  • I am a black female and I have always loved this song. The only reason I mention my race is because it doesnt matter what color a person is if they are talented it will affect everyone in a positive way. I Pray that this artist is still in good health, and may God bless her for her music that she shared with the world. Amen

  • lds2610.....you dont have to mention your race..it's almost as if your saying, 'she's white but I still like her music'....do black people have a problem admitting they like white artists????..I think so. Sorry but thats my opinion...no offence is intended.

  • You have to understand the times; music was still very segregated when this came out and it was rare that white artists actually crossed over and gained respect. She did.

  • Hi xio3mara, no offence was intended. peace and love to you, you seem like a nice person and thats what really matters.

  • If this isn't a 70s song i dont know what is..haha Captain and Tenille and bad bad leroy brown welcome back carter the good ole dayz

  • this has been my favourite song IN THE WORLD since i was about 7 and my dad used to play it in his car. =D

  • doesn't this make you wanna bop your head?

  • Bless your little cotton socks for posting this, YOU LEGEND!

  • Reminds us of a time where hope and love inspired artists. It touches something really deep in our soul. Maybe this part of magic wich gives this song its incredible "love flow".

One of the best songs ever !

  • i love this song it is so 70s...... ricky lee is such a talented singer from that error i am a 80s baby but she is a star to me.. thanks for this songgg

  • Can someone help me out here with 2 urban rumours re.this number?

    1) The great Steve Gadd is on drums

    2) Ricky Dont Lose That Number is about her ? Cheers

    Great number btw !

  • I know Steve played on several on her albums.

    drstevegadd*com/discography*htm

  • Yes, the legendary Steve Gadd IS on drums here! Not sure about the other rumor, though.

  • 1) yes

    2) no

Rikki in the Steely Dan song was a professor when Fagan and Becker were at Bard College.

  • my god you're right!!!! i was in the 10th grade whrn this song came out. that could not have been 30 years ago, it just can't be. please forgive this comment...it just doesn't seem possible, "my how time flys'

  • thank you so much for putting this one up. sometimes i wish artists wouldnt change anything in performance from what they did in thier albums and this is one of the cases. glad i found it. :)

  • In 1979 this became one of my favorite songs.

  • Awesome, AWESOME song!!!! Always been a fan of Ricky & this song :)

  • God Bless you & your soul

  • A musical original! No one like her before or since! Never retire Rickie!
