If you are HL in NOLA get a bus pass for all day for $5 that way you can get around and get your business taken care of. Get where you need to get your gear up or food then take the bus or trolley out the city center where you have a camp. The people of the streets sometimes will attack you worse are the brain dead teens that will attack you have a machete at your camp or a gun don't let these punks kill you they have no right to take your life. Done with the pass pass it on to another HL person
Good work guys and gals, your service is what this country should be all about. If people would think of others instead of their selfish selves and help those in need, this whole world would be such a better place to live. I salute you all for all the work you do and all the help you provide.
Ray! I Know! I was just doing the same math. 360/month times 2 people gets a decent 2 bedroom apartment in a nice area of town. Plus, for that 10 bucks you can't stay during the day, you're just staying overnight.
I'm sleeping out in Minnesota. I'm looking for a mummy bag. It's going to get cold as hell here soon.
Man I hate the Salvation Army! Charging a veteran 12 bucks a night is a CRIME! Thats 360 bucks a month. If a guy had that much, he could get a room of his own, and not get kicked out at 8 am.
@rayofminneapolis If you plan to stay in MN there is a MN man that camps in the -26 degree weather he uses hammock and some other gear to keep warm for days on end he is in my favorites. Any of you that are challenged with transportation or homeless look in my favorites there are plenty of slip between cup and lip and when I find one I favorite it you need to get smarter and use all ideas you can to survive in todays world. I have outdoor showers many shelters even bike RV type sleepers.
too bad sean dolan abused the funds coming in.
