I think there are lots of male stars hit notes higher than him...Adam Lambert hit Bb5..Von Smith hit A5 Jacob Lusk hit Bb5 James Durbin hit Bb5..he is great though......

@micciloi you just proved my point. don't you hear the difference in how their voice sounds after the high F. its head voice and no offence if they are your favourite artists but their voices sound terrible on those high notes. they lack clarity

It looks like there is a common misconception that all the notes on this video (except for the last note) are sang in chest voice. Let me assure you that every note on this video is sang in head voice. Head voice simply means that your voice resonates in your head. Chest and head voice refer to vocal resonation points, whereas modal voice and falsetto refer to the way that you are pushing air through your vocal chords. When most of you say chest voice, I think you really mean to say modal voice.

David Phelps is incredible. I have his range but no where near the control or the

power. I have presently worked my range up to C#6 on a good day, But my full voice usually tops out at D5 or Eb5

@musicguy713 That F5 is not full chest voice, but its a mix of head/falsetto. Still impressive. He tops out at Eb (as he has stated himself in an interview) You can hear that note by searching for "I'll Fly Away", an old Gaither Homecoming video on here.

His F5 has a full and resonant sound becuase it is combined with chest voice and head voice. Falsetto is not connected and head voice is, so you cannot mix chest voice and head voice together.
