The little white buttons are chords and bass notes. There are usually two rows of bass notes, then rows for major chords, minor chords, dominant 7 chords, and diminished chords.

The improvisation is really good. Congratulations. The only thing that doesn't sound that good is that part for example at 2.30, just because an accordion is not noisy enough (in the movie there were metallic wind instruments sounding in that part)
