  • Streatham is really nice now with all the new developments and businesses

  • I used to live just off the High Road in Leigham Court Road and now live by Streatham Common Station. It has its bad points but some mornings when I walk across the Common in the early morning sun it can be quite beautiful and the Rookery is always a treat, not to mention when the Common is covered in snow. I've lived in Streatham so long I can remember when Ceasars used to be The Cats Whiskers - now that's going back a few years. Nice video - do some more.

  • i like dis a video dedicated 2 Streatham..

  • man if ur on bout streathams a shit hole jus record brixton for 2 mins!!

  • Brilliant - I live on Streatham High Road. This is a touching whimsical take on its good and bad sides. It feels like your watching an old silent movie - the way the tramp has to keep getting up is like something from Monsieur Hulot's Holiday. Tragic but sort of comical at the same time.

    Excellent video.

  • I was brought up in Streatham and this really brings back some memories. Mrs Wongs - god, I loved that place! I practically lived at Streatham Baths and the ice rink as a kid and and I was served my first underage drink at the Greyhound Pub. But it was dump then and its a dump now. I left 12 years ago and I've never been sorry. Had to go back for a funeral last year and it was nostalgic.....but not enough to make me want to go back.

  • I was born in Streatham.. I AM FROM STREATHAM :) I was Educated in Streatham, I went Cubs in Streatham, I became a DJ and producer in Streatham, I got arrested in Streatham, I lost my virginity in Streatham, I won & lost fights in Streatham., I left Streatham:) I get Nostalgia whenever I am there.. It has changed a lot but I love Streatham:)

    pretty sad

  • I lived in streatham in the 70s. now i live in america. i will always remember this town fondly. especially the library and st. josephs primary. how can anyone forget the fair at streatham oommon. or pratts

  • bananastand1 : Hi, I used to live at 195 Streatham High Road, From 1953 to 56. My dad was a green grocer and I used to go to Streatham Modern school near the common. Yeh, i miss the old english ambiance. We went off to Canada in 56.

  • I lived in straetham and went primary school there, love the place, always go see my granparents then go to streatham common.

  • croydoncr0 : In 1955-6, i used to go to Sunny Hill Road school, and after tea i would walk through the common on my way home back to Streatham High Road.

  • Funnily enough. I was born there, how it's changed.

  • I almost miss the place, Loved the video, some of the sites are still there after five years away

  • How sad Streatham High Road has become such a neglected place.I grew up in Streatham in the 60's&70's and remember all the smart shops like Pratts department store (where Lidl&Argos is now), Russell&Bromley,Burrows toy shop where you could put a penny into the slot by the window to make the train sets work, The Importers coffee shop where the smell of roasting coffee used to fill the air and not like urine and beer that fills it now!

  • Did you film from the bingo hall because the doorway with the drunks was the main door to my mum's block of flats and saw some of her neighbours.

I am a filmmaker living in streatham too.

I have been in streatham since 1972!

  • Like the start of the film. The music just takes one into the liveliness of the high street live and matches well to the characters of the three men at the doorstep. This nicely presents the contrasts of hectic and tranquillity on a high street, and how they get along side by side.

  • Very atmospheric and very true (I'm local & know). The music sets it off well. A nicely crafted piece of work.
