  • His right hand is real monster!

  • Tommy is a great showman as well!! he's great!

  • Dusseldorf!!!

  • A true master! He does it so effortlessly, but at the same time, puts everything into it.

  • he's a guitar player's guitar player.

  • wish i could like more than once

  • Oh hi tommy, thumb war?, nononono left hands only

  • when people like you 355/2 on youtube... where everyone is a hater... you know your the man.

  • Inspiring, humbling; anyone who thinks they are the greatest guitarist have not heard Tommy.

  • One word: Inhuman.

  • He truly is an inspiration. His passion for his songs bring smiles to my face.

  • this song is the only thing worth living for :) i so damn love this one!!!

  • tommy emmanuel is the best gitarist at the world, fuckk everyone who don't agree!

  • @menski123456 yes, at his GENRE, there cant be 1 best guitarist in the world. You have the best classical guitar player, best finger picking guitarist and so on.

  • 2 people havent got the train to Dusseldorf

  • About the title, the beguining of the song is very Spanish. Sound like Flamenco! Love it!

  • To make this piece more incredible, let's not forget this is just a little thing he wrote while sitting on a train!

  • All I have to say is, "god-damn."

  • 3:22.....

  • what is the song starting from 3:24?

  • @yenrayNg

    its "Lutrell" :)

  • @yenrayNg - How did you know he went into another song?

  • sounds great but the zooming in an out and in and out an in and out is V. poor. see me after class, you did not listen to a word on the video course!!!

  • bollocks pressed the dislike button, stupid mouse, this song is wicked

  • just casually wrote a little soundtrack.. as you do

  • @tomjordanmusic

People next to him in the train were like: 'What has he been smoking?'

  • @ALIDH88 he said he was the only one in the train.

  • sooo fast.....yet so relaxed... still amazing

  • wonderful.....complete...perfect...well done....

  • 2:46 mistake!

  • @Raddesvermougen he makes many more... every artist does.. but most people can't hear,.. nothing is perfect..

  • @ floridajeet I always laugh when i listen to him and start crying when i try to play his songs ;) it's not fair that he can play this with a smile on his face while i nearly break my fingers and do not sound half as good^^ he's the best!

  • I would like to know who the two imbeciles are who voted this video thumbs down. They desperately need a Darwin Award.

  • I watched Tommy and his brother playing in Goldrush and Emmanuel brothers in the 80's and wow will they ever stop gettin better !!

    rock on tommy

  • Its just amazing!

  • I love how this song is actually like riding the rain in a foreign country. Watching the landscape pass by, thinking about life. Watching hills, mountains, small houses. Getting away from something, or maybe going back.

    I adore this song.

  • Lol, great!!!!

  • That poor guitar. It was just laying in its case all cozy. Suddenly, there were footsteps approaching. The guitar thought, "oh $@%^...here come Tommy."

  • Simply put, he is the best guitarist on the planet today!

  • @weemech not just that, he plays with a sense of humour too :)

  • he's amazing!! :D

  • That poor guitar. It just sits in its case all cozy and once it hears footsteps drawing near, it says to itself, "oh #!%^...here comes Tommy..."

  • @azahnd82 Emmanuel has an impeccable technique. Had the guitar the capacity, I would imagine the guitar feeling similarily to a woman about to have a romantic encounter with a highly skilled lover.

  • slash can kiss his ass, bigtime

  • It goes without saying...

  • freak of nature. I can play about 40 seconds of this song (when I play it) but I think he does it in about 5 seconds. ;D Australia's finest guitarist, if not the World's!

  • This is just awesome, more words are not needed.

  • still amazing..

  • hes a LEGEND not a MASTER

  • what there's not to like about TE?.....eh...absolutely nothing!

  • I find myself alternatively laughing and cryin when I watch Tommy perform.... anyone that loves Tommy knows what I mean

  • @floridajeet absolutely ;)

  • oh my golly gosh dangly doo - that picking is incredible

  • This man wields the guitar as if it is simply an extension of his brilliant mind. wow! Of my short list of to do's, I must see Tommy Emmanuel and The Doobie Bros. guess I better book some flights before it's too late! Incredible

  • he's coming to do a master class at my uni tomorrow ! =]

  • The entertainer

  • wooohoooo i can play a piece of that song !!!! not fully but --.--

  • wow what a performance

  • yes tommy you beast

  • I love this man and his music.

  • can't stop watching this vid tommy is AWESOME!!! XD

  • Holy Smoke! *Total Faint*

  • holyyyyyyyy

    shitttttttt

    freakin amazing

  • impossible!

my lifetime isn't enough to even play half like him

  • maybe i'm wrong, but he is born in 1955 and has more than 50 years of experience in playing... he began at 4yrs.. D:

  • Ya dat is good!

  • what does he start playing at 3:18?? ive never heard that in any train to dusselfdorf

  • he plays a song by him called lutrell

  • :O Thanks for pointing that out! I've never heard that before but it sounds nice! ^^

  • hm hm the beautiful german coutryside

    i agree completly

    by the way

    funny song

  • And I haven't even mentioned the fact that Tommy is a born entertainer who doesn't only know how to play his guitar like no other, but he also knows how to play the crowd..

  • Comparing Tommy Emmanuel to a boy like Lars is blasphemy.. Sure, the kid is a decent player, but he misses speed, accuracy and most of all the feeling to play a complicated song like this the way it should be played.. Some of Lars covers (which were live on tv!) were complete trainwrecks (no pun intended), he missed a lot of notes and couldn't even keep up with his own playing..

  • lars de rijk is awesome for his age shut up.

  • Id like to see this guy shredding on an electric guitar with some blast beats in the background . yes.

  • Never satisifed... pricks these days.

    Amazing as is.

  • hahahaha no bozos . Listen to the day tripper and lady maddona cover . .. thats the best one so far .

  • 2:14 reminds me of Super Smash Bros.

  • lol how?

  • I hate all these noobfans that are comparing a genius like Tommy E with a nobody like Lars from a dumb moneymaking commercial show Holland's got talent. Learning existing notes and copying them and covering doesnt go under the talentsection people.

  • someone who can cover this song and make it sound well is a good guitar player.

Maybe not a good writer but a very talented player.

could you give the guy a break? ok, so the show is commercial and generally a bad concept. that doesn't make him a bad guitar player.

oh, and tommy accepted him in his own show, so you're calling the master a noobfan.

  • No tommy isnt a noobfan its funny how you actually can make that deduction.. anyways tommy loves everyone that plays guitar it doesnt matter if he sucks or rules.. but in this matter of TALENT shows it should be the ones that rule that get in the finalshow not the ones that have none and cover songs. Besides ive never said Lars sucked but i said he's no way near a TE. Cause people are actually comparing them and thats whats bothering me.

  • A Genius is just that, tricksters are a dime a doz.

  • Don alder is cool, Andy McKee is simply amazing, and there are so many more great guitarists in this world but in my humble opinion Tommy is the best. I can't explain it but his music is like no one else'.

  • @glorygiver Hi! I Since I knew him, I always say "This guy just unlock a melody code.... " He just found the way to make horribly good music with as he said "simple chords..." Yeah right! jeje bottom line, he is just amazing...

    Regards from Puerto Rico!

  • @glorygiver Tommy Emmanuel is 1000x better than Andy Mckee, Andy Mckee plays one weird style, thats it, Emmanuel can play and write anything, Andy Mckee isn't even top 500 probably, LO FUCKING L.

  • @glorygiver i'm with you there. For me, i think it's b/c Tommy uses 'melody over chords' (as he puts it) so effectively!!

  • @glorygiver his music is just raw and emotional and it is technical performance at its best. the other guys are mainly just technical players. they are good at playing but they havent got the soul yet.

  • Do they use German's for laughing tracks? lol

  • rofl at 1:09 the guy is like "hahaha ibm" just got the joke . ah funny

  • Hollands got talent - Lars

(It got flames in the background_

    BEST COVER EVER?

ik verkies toch precies tommy :) no offense to lars

  • Toch? lmfao.

  • he's in Germany...how do they understand whats hes saying??

  • Comment removed

  • i disagree. I live a few km' from the german border, ive been on an exchange with my school to a german school (which was in the ruhr gebiet) and i was amazed by how poor the children speak and understand english. I do believe it is getting better but mostly germans speak only their own language very well.. no offence, there's a lot of germans who find it a shame too i think. peace (L)

  • I just placed the intro solo on my site check it out not yet thewhole song cause im working on a other song next time it will be my turn on hollands got talent:P:P

  • search for "lars hollands got talent" he does this song and does it as good as tommy

  • Lars is very good for his age, but it is not "as good" as Tommy. :)

  • Tommy might be quicker but the way Lars plays it during the Half Finals it sounds better to be honest, more passion or so, but thats my feeling

  • niemand heeft iets aan jou gevoel!! jelle je gevoelens uit je maar bij je vriend of vriendin!!

  • Lars plays with no feeling because he doesnt understand every note he plays. On the other hand Tommy does cause he invented the freaking song you ignorant baffoon. And ow yeah Lars totally played it out of rhitm and missed like a million notes.

  • i bet you can do better. LOL!

  • thats not part of the issue you moron.. (eventhough I can play a couple of TE songs I wont take credit for his songs and more importantely I wont ever go on a Talent show and fucking cover a guitar song)

Im pointing out that TE is soooooo many times better than that Lars-idiot..people tend to forget that.. and I guess your one of them besides I have a feeling you dont even know TE on the other hand I met TE LOL!

  • it is part of the issue: ur talking like mr. arrogant while you aren't even in the same league as Lars! Its a shame lowlifes like u get the chance to meet Tommy... If he would know you posted this, he would be ashamed to have a fan like you!

  • And this comes from a guy who defends someone like Lars.... I dont think ill be commenting back from now on

  • chill dude, Lars can play guitar well. Tommy can play guitar better.

There's nothing wrong with covering a good artist. No, not even if you make money or fame out of it.

  • How in gods name could you say that.. that would mean someone is just using another artist and taking all the credits for it.. and if he did cover a song than do it CORRECT.. and dont rape the whole thing.

  • I think "rape the whole thing" is a (huge) exaggeration. But ok, that's a matter of opinion...

And using each other's work is commonly accepted in music-land. If you pay royalties and mention the original artist's name it's all fine. And mostly considered an act of appreciation.

  • I'm completely with you on that matter(thats a first) but the show isn't about showing apreciation, it's about showing your real talents. And covering a guitar-song is not showing your talents, its just learning notes out of your head and playing them in the same exact order. On the other hand singing is.. because grasping the notes you need to sing a beautifull melody does need talent and a serious case of genetics.

  • Partly true. Singing requires more physical talent then guitar playing because your instrument is actually your body. Guitar playing is less of a genetic talent but you still can't make a robot play guitar as good as a person. You need a lot of feeling to play it well. So any guitarist would tell you that covering a guitar song does require major talent!

Anyway I'm quiting this argument, it's not really relevant to the video (which is AWESOME btw. :-)

  • Exactly and thats what I think Lars is missing hugely. Anywys let's agree to disagree;)

  • it's so gooodd.. he actually let's that part that comes back in the song a few times really sound like a train.

  • awesome

he is really really really good

    and funny:D

  • love this started learning it today lovely good story teller to:P;p buut you guys should check out his brother he doesnt do under tommy

  • This man is my big idol, I wish I could play half as good as him.

  • najlepszy momnent to te "narazie" na samym poczatku filmu. :D ale tak nawiasem swietne wykonanie :). Tommy był w dość dobrej formie ;)

  • it´s not onla train to dusseldorf the ending is lutrell

  • omg I SUCK to! Can't post a reaction :s

  • God bless youtube. Because the music media industry would never understand his raw awesome genius, how the fuck do you not see this kind of guitarist on tv? Today's music sucks.

  • Amen! A big percentage of the pop music these days sounds so synthetic to me that its almost poisening my brain while i listen to it...

  • So true...not that i dont enjoy pop, but this music over pop anyday.

  • Wow man, you totally missed my point. Do you think the media industry would hire this aged solo artist, or pick semi nude girls just whoring themselves on videos, with rich fucking rappers bragging about how much more money they have than you. They do what sells, sex sells along with money. Your arguments have no point at all, you just sound ignorant. There is barely any talent at all in any music nowadays. If they recognized talent, he would be on television, not 50 cent or fall out boy.

  • Yeah that's right, eat it.

  • big loser deepseaseamus

  • hes an entertainer jackass... what musician isnt cocky, he puts on a show and hes one of the best guitarists in the world

  • Let me guess ... you feel massively jealous that someone with that level of skill can make light of it?

  • @GibsonGuitarist666 back then, being talented made you hot. nowadays, being hot makes you talented and that's why the popular music these days suck.

  • @ZeBigStrat Amen.

  • @ZeBigStrat agree, otherwords: when the sun of culture stays low, the gnomes throw long shadows as well.

  • @GibsonGuitarist666 Agreed....Perhaps we would see him on AustinCityLimits...or PBS....Mainstream doesnt get it.

Also...you might like Andrew White...from CandyRat Records....Great voice...really good music...

  • Tommy is just so unique.

Unique and mind blow tunes with the boom chick

  • tommy emmanuel rocks!

  • damn I want to play this version

  • Here's the bottom line. I don't think he planned that, but who cares? I'd bet he threw it in there just to see if any jackasses on youtube would see it. lol.

  • unglaublich!

  • dont u just luv it how every comment on tommy's videos are all posititve? lets keep it that way, because tommy is not only a very skilled guitarist who has become an icon, but is very passionate about what he does, and continues to amaze his audiences. and thats something special. Go tommy!

  • Bloody amazing. =0

  • Pitty they already have a word for magnificence. Else they'd have to call it Tommy Emmuanuel.

  • They can call it two things now and have a picture with sound just in case you're blind.

  • is that lutrell at the end??

in each case an incredible video, 5 stars and more...

  • Yep, definitive Lutrell. Fits in good :D

  • the rhythm that tommy puts in his playing is just phenomenal!! everything else is great too, but i really love the rhythmic energy that drips from the music :D

  • Holy shit it's amazing!!!!

  • I can't believe you're all still arguing over one dodgy note :-) It's hard not to make a mistake or fifty when you're playing a song at 180 beats per minute. Guys like Tommy don't care about a bum note anyway, they're too busy playing great music.

  • I Usually don't like t get involved in musical disputes over accomplished artists, but the harmonized line at 2:46 is not an incorrect note. He is using a harmonic minor scale, and that note is a major 7th, as opposed to the minor 7th in a natural minor. This is fitting because he is playing over a V chord. In this situation some musicians will call it a dominant prolongation. And yes, the major 7th is part of a dominant V chord.

  • ...cant we just say "he played the music good" lol. i hate theory.

  • Actually. Tommy doesn't know theory. It was a mistake. :P

  • Some mistakes are perfect. ;^)

  • for someone who doesn't like to get involved , you make a very good case ! lol

  • It's a natural 7th ('super locrian' if you will) over a natural minor idea. It is not uncommon to drop into a harmonic minor momentarily in that situation. Old Jazz trick and a sly one at that.

  • are you talking about that one note that kinda stuck out? I'm NOT someone who knows the technical issues in music. I did get to see Tommy play at the House of Blues, New Orleans, Louisiana on 21 July 2008 and was sitting about 8 feet in front of him - needless to say, no words can describe that night... wow

  • The point of music isn't to play a song perfectly without a single mistake. The point is to convey the song's message to the audience

  • For once I agree 100% with someone!

  • wow excellent luttrell version !

  • He wrote the song and not you guys. Maybe your tabs aren't right. But how matter tommy is such a good player. Tommy4ever!!

  • I noticed that note as well. First I noticed that I was listening to one of the greatest guitarists alive today - so who cares about one note...

  • Quiet.

  • Thank You!

  • Clearly not a wrong note musically. But I guess if you are reading the music or tab I would have to agree... though I doubt that is the case.

  • actually it was wrong

  • i think it was either a improvisation, or just a correct note. Anyway, it wasn't wrong

  • It was a wrong note. But who cares, he's amazing.

  • I'll agree with that:p
