The way they play go in this anime is basic and wrong in many aspects. Way Touya opens the game against the idiot is totally amateur. Even though that idiot had placed his first move in Tengen Akira made the move a great move by making the game shape vs shape.(I don't know the exact japanes terms) Plus, Akira just tsuked the Tengen which is a totally bad move if the guy decides to stop mimic akira's. There are way better ways to stop that trick. Such as using diagonal kos.Checkout some pro rec.
@Christofaaah You probably would think half of Japanese HS students have Asperger's. They're really craft-oriented people from the little exp. I got from em.
I remember when I first saw an episode of Hikaru no Go. It was long before I discovered the pleasures of YouTube, when I watched anime on Toonami and Toonami Jetstream... It appeared on Toonami Jetstream, but soon after I started watching, my computer broke. By the time I got a new one, I was engrossed in Harry Potter and took a break from anime. I only remembered 3 days ago, and I've been watching nearly non-stop since. This is my second round.
did that poor kid really just do that? it's not that hard to see that you're boxing yourself in...and he only realized it when there was like 1 move left.
You have to account that the target audience many not have played Go (like me) before. Therefore it may be to show us "noobs" that he was clearly dominating. ^_^ Because quite frankly, it's quite difficult for me to see what a good position is.
1:14-Wow, telling from the way the guy was walking away in defeat, I was expecting to hear a gunshot after he closed the door! This Go game is serious business! 0_0
What an idiot kid. I don't know Go very well but I could see that he was going to capture his stones in the middle right when that whole scene began. He was in Atari and he didn't even try to defend himself idiot.
There are a few manuals online for beginners which explain the basics. I've liked "Learn to Go" by Kim and Soo-hyun, but there are a lot of websites (through Google). After learning them you can start playing with other beginners, since there are only a few basic rules on how to open game and what moves to avoid as much as possible (e.g., avoid ladders and so on).
And, depending on how far you want to go, you can either practice further just by playing against other people (which could improve your level, but not much) or add studying books about strategies and openings and solving problems on go to playing go with people.
so at 0:44 in the clip it shows the Game board. It doesn't look like a lost cause to me. Can someone with a better eye for Go explain why its a complete loss so early?
it might not be a lost cause but Touya has control of the board(side territories mostly) as well as some progress in the center. I'd say Aoki focused a little to much on defense instead of territory expansion early on. Touya did an incredible job of breaking up Aoki's territories in the lower left as well as threatening the upper right side.
I dunno...but when I look at the board, the black stones always kept the white stones under control. it's like Akira manipulated all of the white stones and no matter where Aoki put the white stones it's either useless or it's endangered.
That is a pretty good strategy when your opponent doesn't know you're reflecting all his moves. But this freshman guy started copying Akira's moves the instant he played with him -- how stupid can a guy get?! Plus Akira is slowly surrounding his mves and he didn't even NOTICE. HOW COULD HE?! He just copies, copies, copy. He can't even defend himself!!!!!!!
thx for uploading all the videos

@thhcool Is that so ? I wonder why the guys who make the manga/anime just don't copy a pro game so it looks more credible

Once you are that far into an ideology, it is very hard to change strategy even in the face of obvious flaws.

Man, I love the play Touya does on the Tengen, I would've been screwed in that situation:D
Anyone know what's a good way to start learning the game?
megaman13689 3 years ago
...uh, try searching "igowin" program on google. That does help.
