A muscle car stock is not more powerful than a modified import. You take cars like a Supra, Skyline, Evo, amoung many others and add a few aftermarket parts, it will demolish a stock muscle car. You wanna see a real sweet street race? Watch a high horsepower AWD vehicle (like a Subaru WRX STI or Lancer Evo) race of the line. They launch like rockets and always beat even the higher horsepower rear or front wheel drive cars due to the gain they get from less traction loss. My brother has an 05 STI tuned to 342whp and we have beat a 400hp zo6 vette. The look on the vette drivers face was pricless as he coudn't catch us light to light.
You guys don't know whats up!All cars can be built to go fast it just depends on how mutch money you have and are willing to spend and what base car you want to start with. I have seen 900whp Supras and Mustangs with over 1000hp.
i love gm trucks, and cams and stangs are fun to drive, but when gm can make a 3L engine that gets 320 hp and 280 lb ft of torque supports well above 800hp on the stock block and tranny (minus a new clutch of course)looks good doing it, and still gets 22mpg....then i'll buy one.
the whole imports vs muscle thing is pretty much over. japan makes half of the domestic engines. unless you've got a genuine small block ford or chevy i.e the (discontinued) camaro 8, mustang 8, charger 8 or gto 8 (and their premium sports models) you've probably got more or less the same engine as your riceburner eighbor who thought the first order of business was to put a $400 aluminum wing on his hyundai and slap some badass 15s from walmart auto on it.

haveing a v8 dosn't automaticly make a car faster.. the tranny plays a big part too. and preaty much any v6 tuner can smoke a newer american v8. america just sadly dosn't make good cars any more. thats why classic muscle cars are getting popular. sure the new ones look nice but the older ones are ALOT easyer and cheaper to build up and they don;t have to pass imisions inspections so you can run strait pipes and get more power and better gas milage. id still buy american over import though

You wanna see a real sweet street race? Watch a high horsepower AWD vehicle (like a Subaru WRX STI or Lancer Evo) race of the line. They launch like rockets and always beat even the higher horsepower rear or front wheel drive cars due to the gain they get from less traction loss. My brother has an 05 STI tuned to 342whp and we have beat a 400hp zo6 vette. The look on the vette drivers face was pricless as he coudn't catch us light to light.

i love gm trucks, and cams and stangs are fun to drive, but when gm can make a 3L engine that gets 320 hp and 280 lb ft of torque supports well above 800hp on the stock block and tranny (minus a new clutch of course)looks good doing it, and still gets 22mpg....then i'll buy one.

the whole imports vs muscle thing is pretty much over. japan makes half of the domestic engines. unless you've got a genuine small block ford or chevy i.e the (discontinued) camaro 8, mustang 8, charger 8 or gto 8 (and their premium sports models) you've probably got more or less the same engine as your riceburner eighbor who thought the first order of business was to put a $400 aluminum wing on his hyundai and slap some badass 15s from walmart auto on it.
