they read it as parts per million but the unit is written ug/L which is parts per billion.. the test was within drinking water standards.

pure barium is indeed poison, one cool thing you can do with barium nitrate is with fireworks, it imparts a nice green color to the flame. it is also used in strobing/pulsing fireworks
