The biggest obstacle is the Macross license (long story short, the original company wasn't in a position to sell it to another company; which in turn took out an injunction to a third company, barring them from selling all Macross based merchandise to the NA market.)

Unlike previous A.C.E. titles, ACE-R does have mainly English menus; so even if you can't understand the story, you could still figure out how to play it.
