I have loved this man since the early 70's......no I mean I was really IN LOVE with this man all through my high school years. What a voice!!! He was all mine until he became extremely popular in the early eighties and I had to share him with the rest of the world.....it broke my heart. I still have all the albums he put out in the seventies. Those were the days, what memories!!
why isn't this as famous as bowie's or elton's great songs from the early 70s? it is in the same great class. a song so raw with emotional honesty that it still rubs the crotch after 30 years.
Have recently rediscovered Rod Stuart, guess my youth was a bit clouded with whatever clouds a young mans mind, but now I'm sane "I think" and am enjoyimg some old classics, hope everyone is doin the same!
I dedicated the last verse of this song to my ex.....The song could be the anthem for the marriage. All the lies and all the deception and I still fought to keep it together till I had no more to give and had to think about our children and their welfare far more than my own and a relationship that wasn't healthy for them or I.
wonderful - thanks for posting. takes me back to good old days when I'd listen to the Every Picture Tells A Story album. Every song on that record was great.

This is the most romantic song ever, other than "God Only Knows" by the Beach Boys.

The double bass is one of the most iconic sounds on this song. Tell your Dad it's beautiful.
