I'm confused. I swear that someone who didn't like him was supposed to wet the sponge, but skipped it and just set it on his head dry making the execution a lot more painful for him. Or was that from another movie? lol
@TheAwesomeOpossumCo I saw a tiny bit of the movie, and I was looking for the execution of the guy who got a fucked up thanks to Percy, and then in the related videos this video popped up with the title: "John Coffey's Execution". So I already knew the ending before actually watching it. But I was really hoping he'd survive, for whatsoever reason. Guess not.
When I heard this music I though "Good God this music is as good as or better than the thomas newman score!" Then I looked down and saw it was Hans Zimmer. I should have known it was you Hans! :')
i was surprised at first but the choice of music is really awesome. This kind of music is so potent, almost tear you apart, going really to the very edge of your feeling, exactly like the scene from this movie.
Damnit, I can't live like this, I'm 13 years old, I saw this movie in my first time and I couldn't sleep, no because it sad, it because this fucking electric chair, I think about the electric chair all the time and im afraid, I can't go wash, sleep or be alone, I'm afraid from the darkness to, what should I do? please help me.
one of the best movies ever :( such a tragedy. stop executions!! put people in jail for the rest of their lives, but if you kill a murderer, you are a murderer yourself. state law or not. i dont care. stop executions!!
This film put me off being a prison guard for life. I wasn't planning to anyway, but if the thought of having to do something like this makes you want to die, then don't be a prison guard.
I love John Coffey, and all the John Coffey's of the world. Taking on what most people consider despicable.. God bless 'em every one .. and for the 3:39er's there is no words to explain their fate. ouch. Gran Peg♥
@KerstinMonika your and idiot. sure the changes in the song are in time with the rising tension in the scene but thats not to say that the mood of the song has anything to do with the mood in the original scene. This sounds like a triumphatic song, which is not what the green mile represents. Its a good job, but i think your the only one getting those goosebumps
oh, such a sad scene. every time i see it i cry. they are playing this movie on tv1000 almost every day now...well...a lot...and every time i see this scene i just can't help but cry. that moment, where tom's character has to say the "execution" word, and he can't. how he's trying to hold back the tears but his heart does not let him...yet he must say it...and that hand...then the sparks all around and tom's face...those teary eyes....my goodness...
I don't think that people watching this even realize that this isn't what is actually playing during the scene. Thats how well Hans Zimmer's piece fits to this. Amazing
This movie change my opinion of a fellow who i grew up with. After seeing this and the guard in this movie played a nasty trick in JOHN COFFEY's exection. This movie send such a chill dowm my spine. Because that fellow who i went to highschool with, "Kelly Fagan" is a prison guard at the Edmonton Max or either the Edmonton Remand Center. Well that prison guard in highschool bragged to the whole school about how he worked at Smitty's Restraunt. About how he pissed in the pancake batter
In Evil, there is Good, and in Good, there is Evil. They are ever changing and never ending.
Accept this as just who we are, to see Good in Evil allow us to be more empathetic and forgiving . And to see Evil in Good is about being vigilant and wise in accepting who we are.
5***** stars for releasing me into the reality of human being.Humans can act more worse than animals. Was this guy on the electric chair innocent?I haven not seen this movie until yet.
@MstrssK I tend to disagree; I believe the original song is far better, since this sounds so out of place with the moment. It's making it out to be a momentous, epic moment with flashy lights and epic positive-things happening. Instead, the scene is meant to be a slow, sad scene trying to help the audience through the death of the character. There's a reason that they chose the original song and not this one or something like it.
