It absolutely astounds me that politicians in America still debate whether or not to build nuclear power plants. They pretend that nuclear energy is some great, clean energy source that will solve all of our problems. Not only that but people actually believe it. As a parent I'm really troubled how much longer we can keep kicking waste under the rug for future generations to deal with. Even if you deny the potential catastrophic disasters we are eventually going to run out of room to bury crap.

The majority of North Americans who don't use nuclear power use coal, which is orders of magnitude worse than nuclear waste for humans, this is the alternative we've chosen for ourselves. Not to say nuclear or perfect, but it is far better than the coal status quo.

How efficient is it to produce neclear energy? The waste alone threatens the existance of earth and all life. Solar, wind, hydrogen, oil, coal, or any other source of energy is more efficient. You people think you can say its ok, let our children deal with the problems we have made for them. Wake up and realize that it is very dangerous and a unecessary threat.

Why cant we build a space capsul or barge, fill it wiyh the waste and aim it right at the sun? The sun is 1,000,000 times bigger than the earth and like a big nuclear reacter itself...if we have the technology to send sattelites outside our solar system, surely we can devise a way to get this waste incinerated in the sun..
