It's important to understand why a person performs an action. If I was name calling, it does indeed matter why. If I was simply doing it out of emotional rage (like the people I have been talking to in this comment section), then you could make a reasonable argument that I am likely an immature person. However, in all of these cases it was merely a mockery of the other person's emotional rage (and, therefore, their immaturity, not mine).
For example, you only a fool would accuse a parrot of being intelligent after hearing it reflect/mock an intelligent comment that someone just said to it. Similarly, it makes little sense to accuse someone of being immature for mocking an immature comment that someone just said to them. Pointing out another person's immaturity via reflection is not, in and of itself, an immature act. Understand this, and you'll realize why it is important to understand why a person performs any given action.

Because people debate more fairly when they know that others may be watching, or double checking their facts, or that at any moment someone might jump into the conversation and completely own them for using flawed logic. At your age, it's probably hard to imagine why people would want to participate in formal debate. It not intended to be anything like the juvenile fights/arguments that you are probably familiar with at school. At any rate, it's disturbing that you've been watching the debate for over 3 weeks. You should seek out a life and boldly go where you've never gone before: outside of your parents basement. Anything immature that I've said was only in direct response to juvenile remarks made by others.
As a side note, it's funny that you find it particularly weird that we are debating ONLINE. Obviously, it's difficult to find people who are interested in debate in one's immediate area & the surrounding community. Furthermore, it would be a hassle to meet in a building somewhere & organize such an event around everyone's schedule. Yes, ONLINE communications are far more convenient & integrated, whether it's debate, or chatting with ten friends at once. Either way, it's just WAY more efficient.
(cont. 3) And just to put the final nails in the coffin: If sexuality was indeed dictated by a conscious choice, then wed expect to see a 50/50 chance of someone being gay or straight. But, even children who are practically raised to be gay by a gay couple still end up being straight most of the time. So, its NOT unbiased, and therefore it can hardly be considered a choice. Its only a choice for those few who are on the fence (bisexuals) who actually want to jump onto one side or the other.
(cont. 2) Sexuality not a choice. We cannot change the pleasure center of our brains to respond to a particular orientation. From birth, it either responds to women, men, or a combination or the two. Its dictated by biology, not conscious thought. Only those whose biology is on the fence can seem to chose. They are able to derive pleasure both ways. The rest of us are limited to choose the one option which does give us pleasure, even if it takes time to realize which option that is.
(cont 1). Now, this is true because agnosticism is sort of an on the fence state between atheism and religion. Its analogous to bisexuality (between straight and gay). Similarly, youre only going to see such decisions occurring in people who are more or less bisexuals. Most gay people, just like most religious people, would claim that it wasnt a conscious choice. Theyd say that it was quite obvious from a young age that this is what was right for them.

I don't like the idea of homosexuality. It does not seem natural to me. Still, I understand that these people can't help it. It results from a neurological/biological malfunction. Wrong. I never blocked you. YouTube sometimes does not allow messages to be sent. At that time I remember being unable to send you messages too. If someone blocks you, you can still send a message. You'll never know the person blocked you, they simply will never know you sent a message because they'll never receive it. And no, merely mocking another's immaturity is not hypocritical. It's important to understand why a person performs an action. If I was name calling, it does indeed matter why. If I was simply doing it out of emotional rage (like the people I have been talking to in this comment section), then you could make a reasonable argument that I am likely an immature person. However, in all of these cases it was merely a mockery of the other person's emotional rage (and, therefore, their immaturity, not mine).

For example, you only a fool would accuse a parrot of being intelligent after hearing it reflect/mock an intelligent comment that someone just said to it. Similarly, it makes little sense to accuse someone of being immature for mocking an immature comment that someone just said to them. Pointing out another person's immaturity via reflection is not, in and of itself, an immature act. Understand this, and you'll realize why it is important to understand why a person performs any given action.

I'm pretty sure that people can view a video just fine regardless of how many comments are posted under them. If this just personally annoys you, well then that's your own fault. However, I'm sure that the video owner is quite pleased since videos which see a lot of commenting are placed higher into searches, etc, & consequently get more views. As a side note, it's funny that you find it particularly weird that we are debating ONLINE. Obviously, it's difficult to find people who are interested in debate in one's immediate area & the surrounding community. Furthermore, it would be a hassle to meet in a building somewhere & organize such an event around everyone's schedule. Yes, ONLINE communications are far more convenient & integrated, whether it's debate, or chatting with ten friends at once. Either way, it's just WAY more efficient.

But, even children who are practically raised to be gay by a gay couple still end up being straight most of the time. So, its NOT unbiased, and therefore it can hardly be considered a choice. Its only a choice for those few who are on the fence (bisexuals) who actually want to jump onto one side or the other.

(cont. 2) Sexuality not a choice. We cannot change the pleasure center of our brains to respond to a particular orientation. From birth, it either responds to women, men, or a combination or the two. Its dictated by biology, not conscious thought. Only those whose biology is on the fence can seem to chose. They are able to derive pleasure both ways. The rest of us are limited to choose the one option which does give us pleasure, even if it takes time to realize which option that is.

Similarly, youre only going to see such decisions occurring in people who are more or less bisexuals. Most gay people, just like most religious people, would claim that it wasnt a conscious choice. Theyd say that it was quite obvious from a young age that this is what was right for them.

I don't like the idea of homosexuality. It does not seem natural to me. Still, I understand that these people can't help it. It results from a neurological/biological malfunction. To say that these people should be allowed to marry is analogous to saying the handicapped should not be allowed to walk simply because it isn't natural for them to do so. Although I do not think their actions are "normal", it would be unfair for me not to support them as equals.

Yes, feelings of desire remain dormant until somewhere between the ages of 5 to 10. Yet, the circuitry is still there from birth. Molestation and very traumatic events can cause malfunction in almost ANY part of the brain. Post traumatic stress disorder can cause the person to have nightmares every day for the rest of there life. It's not hard to imagine that sexuality could be disturbed as well. However, trauma is an issue only in a rather small minority of gays. Most were not molested, etc.

Some gay people do 'choose' to be gay. However, most of these people were on the fence. They were almost bisexual, but they were close enough to one side or the other such that they could "choose" the side which was more agreeable to them. It certainly would FEEL as if they made a choice, yet it's probably just the side they were already closest to. This is not true of the majority of gay people. Most of them are not on the fence, and unquestionably know from a young age that they are quite gay.

At age 7, I knew very well that I was quite straight, and there was NO question to the matter. I'm sure this is true of the vast majority of people. The possibility of gayness never entered my mind. I did not even understand the concept of it until closer to age 10. It never occured to me that it even could be an 'option'. Given how many people hate homosexuality, I doubt they that they have ever thought about it. I doubt that one day they made a CONSCIOUS 'choice' to be straight. They just are.
