When I put eye liner on my lower part of my eye it seems to get smugged and smeer when I smile and laugh alot. Is there anything I can use that wouldnt do that ?
Oh we just took down the issue of my mag that answers this! I'll work on having the archives available for the new website (up on Friday!).
I had a whole bunch of tips for this very question. Basically, important to set liner with eyeshadow. Sometimes it's not the liner sliding but the mascara. A little bit of eye primer under the lower lashline (not in the waterline). Could try a makeup sealer line Napoleon Cake Eyeliner Sealer, or Benefit's Shelaq.
hi amy, its a fabulous look, i wil try this. oh, and i love your vids and let me say you that you are a very talented makeup artist. hugs and kisses from Mexico.
this is a very beautiful & luminous look! What an original idea & concept! You are really talented (& pretty ;)) !! :D
I loved how thorough & fun your vid tutorial was & it was easy to follow because you were generous with breaking down the steps & sharing info. Thank u for making & sharing this video <33 It is so helpful & motivating (for me to be bolder & more confident with make up application & to also do it creatively). Thanks once again! :D:D
You are truly a beautiful woman inside and out and this definitely comes through in your videos (which I am now addicted to!!) I am 45 years old and have always had a passion for makeup and learning techniques. After hundreds of dollars paid to pro makeup artists, I feel that I've found my true guru in you!
Thank you so very much for helping all of us look and feel more beautiful. You're a true gem with such a beautiful disposition. Keep up the great work!
It's from Napoleon Perdis. I got it in my pro makeup palette. I really need to check the proper name for it. In my next frequently asked questions video, I'll talk about the colour and some other options for the colour.
Uuuummmmm.... I can't remember. I don't even remember when I bought it! Quite frankly I forgot I had it. I wonder where it is!!!! *turns head and looks suspiciously around the room*
have you ever tried body shop products? are there any low cost versions of all the make up you use...for those that enjoy wearing make-up but not always able to afford or use all the make-up constantly?
I love The Body Shops's Bronzer and their Mattifier. As I say, the only things I really pay for are foundation, mascara and liquid liner. Everything else is fine to get cheaper products. You see in my vids I use some L'Oreal products, and some Rimmel London stuff.
beautiful..well..i saw some other videos..and its soooo beautiful..but im never gonna be able to makeup myself like that!!!! Difficult..:s well...practice? maybe..? Anyway. ur awesome girl. ill email u!!
hello Amy! thanks for all the amazing videos you've made! I love your hair and makeup so please do a hair tutorial too!! haha.. thanks again! The eye tuts are so easy to follow and so simple yet soooo fab!! BTW I love your voice and songs!! Keep em comin'!
I am going to do some short hair styling vids using a friend of mine.
And I will also do a vid on how I style my hair. I never seem to ahve the camera and lighting ready when I have to do my hair!!!! But I will do it soon.
It's funny. When I did this video it was summer over there... and I remember it was so cold in Australia the night I made this!!! My toes were frozen! And now it's boiling hot, and have to do winter looks! Hahaha! I'll definitely do some looks.
Good question... I don't remember... I have to watch it through!!!
Ummmmm.... Yes I did. This brush is a little firmer, and because I was using a stronger coloured shimmer, I wanted to pack it on without too much fallout. Whenever I applied white, I used a fluffy brush.
That whole mineral foundation thing hasn't made it big or hasn't really made any impact in Australia. I don't know if the fad is going to come here. I've heard that some people love it (especially if you don't need much coverage) but if you are like me and need coverage in your foundation then it's not suitable for me.
here in california it realy took off people here dont realy like the feeling of makeup on theyr face or they just like looking like theyr not wering any even your local store brand makeup r coming out w/ mineral makeup but pls save your self $60 you realy dont want to buy something that u'll use for a few weaks.
I also have this Liquid foundation from Mac (studio fix) and when I put it on, I felt like it looked weird on me because my neck was lighter. Is this normal?? Is my face suppose to be darker than my neck?
This does happen. My neck is lighter than the colour of my face and my shoulders, because my neck doesn't get to see the sun as much as my face and shoulders! Just add some bronzer to you neck.
And on the Luna cream... I've heard mixed reviews. Some people have had problems with it making their eyeshadow slide and crease in their eyelid. Most people seem to use it as a hilighter on the cheek bones. Before putting it on your eye, try putting some powder on your eye first.
Either way... I'd be more inclined, personally to put it on after. I'd put blush on the apples of my cheek, and blend out along the cheek bone. Then I'd put highligher on the cheekbone and a dab on the apple of the cheek. See how i do it with the luminiser in this video at the end.
Please help me...=( I went to mac a couple of days ago and I got two problems. I bought the LUNA cream base and this morning after I put it on for some reason when I put the mac eye shadow on top of the cream it looked blotchy. It didn't cover right away so I had to keep adding more eye shadow which made the color darker. Is there a way to avoid this? Some sort of technique???
Oh my gosh, i didn't notice the time. I've been watching your vds for couple of hours now..i'm so hooked hehe..anyws..you are so gorgous and soooo good putting make up on, it seems so easy. i guess couple hours more and for sure i'll learn how to put make-up on nicely.
question: Just wondering, what brand of eyeshadow can you recommed? what do you use here in this video? thanks amy!
I did this last night and it was really easy to do and looked awsome. Thanx for ur tips they are great i dont really wear makeup but that colour really suited me and i got so many compliments thanx
I cannot stress enough how much I LOVE your tutorials. I tried the gold daytime look today and it was very nice, except I went a little too heavy on the liner. And when I went to smudge the liner I put under my eyes it just didn't work very well. I'm using the Rimmel Exaggerate. Any suggestions?
I don't put on a lot under my eye. I apply it very lightly. Just enough to line my lashes, but not so much that you can see I've put liner on. I would just suggest putting less on, smudge with your pinky... if you need more then add a little more. Hope that helps you out... oops I'm signed in with my music account. It's me, Amy.
Here's one for you: Last week you had me (a 53-year-old
granny), my 30-year-old daughter, and my 6-year-old grand daughter all glued to the monitor watching Amy apply make-up. I don't know which one of us was the most
transfixed. At first it was just me and my grand daughter. Then she said "pause it, Nana. I've got to go get mommy." What a treat! Three generations learning to get dolled up! :) You're a gem!
Dear Mz Amy, I have a question for you ? I'm in need of some make up brushes, really eye make up brushes and i have no idea what to get ! Do you have any suggestions on what to buy or who makes the best brushes ? HELP !! Oh Luv the videos there so helpful and your a wonder teacher !! THANK YOU !
If you check out my "what every girl needs in her makeup kit" video, I discuss about 5 basic brushes and what to look for. Mine are from Napoleon. I do have some Mac ones aswell. I suggest you fork out the money and buy atleast 5 good quality ones, like I suggest. And then everything else, you could buy a cheaper product. But I assure you, paying the money for good quality brushes are a worthwhile investment. I've had mine now 6 years. You can wash them without a problem too.
It's true that you are a beautiful woman but I really think it's your inner glow that pulls it all together for you! You have such a wonderful inner quality; you truly want everyone to look and feel their best and that really comes through in your vids!
Amy, you're down right amazing. I'm addicted to your tutorials and tips. Thank you so much for taking the time to do all of them and sharing your secrets and tricks with us. Though is always shocking to learn beauty tips from someone's beautiful without any make-up on. Keep up the great work, and once again - THANK YOU.
Another vibrant yet exotic make up style! Pretty pretty pretty! I want to use this make up this autumn and winter! Hate dull blacks/greys smokeys eye make ups... who wants that during autumn and winter??? Bring summer along! ^_^ Definitely looking forward for that smokey gold make up vid!
hi yeah i have a question...you always use and apply eye shadow to your brow bone that helps to define the eye; but i'm asian and don't have a brow bone...i do have double eyelids though. i really like ure makeup and would like u to mention as u go what someone without a brow bone could do. thank you! love your videos!
Yes.. I am doing an asian makeup video. Asian makeup is an art in itself. Completely different eye technique. I've got 2 models coming hopefully next week.
The first couple of minutes of the "Old Hollywood Makeup" vid talks about false eyelashes. I will do a tutorial on it later on. But for now, that should help you out!
Sephora. com stocks Napoleon and napoleoncosmetics. com also send out across America. Napoleon has a store on Hollywood Blvd now, and he lives there too... so you'll see it coming out more and more. Hopefully!
I'm probably the only guy watching your vids eh? Anyway, what about a gothic makeup look? not your thing im sure.. Anywho, you always look very pretty..
I'm thinking your MAc paint must be stilife (shimmery), or bare canvas? did the label wear off from using it so much? ;-) love your choice in music and the tutorials!
Yeah! I think it wore off! Hahhaha. I think it might be Stilife... because it is shimmey. Bare canvas is a little more matte isn't it? Thanks for the help!
All the products are listed in the description text box to the right of the video.
I didn't really contour my face in this video, because I didn't want my face to look to dark and muddy. I went for a colour blush the luminisers to brighten the face. I am working on a contouring video at the moment, so please stay posted!
It was my pleasure. It's hilarious... because it's winter here in Sydney, and it felt strange to be so summery last night! The heater was on in the background!
I have a question. I'm 15 and I've got almond shaped eyes that aren't too big, so should I put liner on the bottom lash?
Also, I'm really big on liquid liner. I put it on the bottom lash because it doesn't smudge at all. Is this bad?
Thanks!

what is equivalent to Napoleon in the US. I can't find a web site that will send hese products to the US any advice?
Indigochihuahua 4 years ago
Sephora. com stocks Napoleon and napoleoncosmetics. com also send out across America. Napoleon has a store on Hollywood Blvd now, and he lives there too... so you'll see it coming out more and more. Hopefully!

I'm thinking your MAc paint must be stilife (shimmery), or bare canvas? did the label wear off from using it so much? ;-) love your choice in music and the tutorials!
snapesiren 4 years ago
Yeah! I think it wore off! Hahhaha. I think it might be Stilife... because it is shimmey. Bare canvas is a little more matte isn't it? Thanks for the help!
And thanks for the compliment!

Lovely videoo! I love the music nd everything and your so pretty tooo!!!
I realyl like how you did your cheeks in all the video, i was wondering how you do contouring and all that:)
Btw, your skin is flawless! Loves it! What products did you use??
bambidandi 4 years ago
Thank you!
