  • @JCMcGee - it's a Guild B302

  • anyone has a clue of what model of bass is that?

  • @anonimopolesano : It's pretty cool looking....I think it's probably a GIBSON, but I can't find one that looks quite like it or find any info on it!

Maybe some kind of Rickenbacker or possibly even a Burns.....wow...can't find anything that looks like it

At 1.11: It's got a fat arse, a long neck, a head like a gibson, a weird angular scratchplate, and 4 pots....would love to know what it is!

  • @JCMcGee Could be a DanElectro bass.

  • They were great until they went into Stadium Rock

  • DL the audio from this song at speedyconversion doht cohm.

  • Mini moog.

  • Bloody magic !! Still sounds good !!!

  • good celtic singers-bhoys-dicky bhoy

  • Their best moment...the early years up to 'New Gold Dream'. They'll play live here in Rio and I hope they will include some of their early great songs!

  • Love this

  • they did this song live in Sydney 25/03/10! Had Sarah Brown sing most of the lead vocals! Brilliant rendition it was!

  • This song is just begging for a band to cover it. Think what one could do with the guitar sound.

  • hahaha, robert robertson...cool edit...top tune...one of their finest tunes.

    thanx again, cool post.

  • Yes McGee was cool as ice, but Gaynor was pure power! In reality, two very different bands.

  • Effortlessly cool :D accept no imitations!

  • does anyone know how to play this keyboard-part?

'cause it doesn't look that hard to do..

  • The best SM song ever, this is simply class.

  • Susan Boyle is Jim Kerrs Aunty.....

  • Great clip. Funny how this band became the funk masters of only a few years later. The bass plays a totally different roll. I love both.

  • Jim we all just love the eye make up! The pixie hair do is fab too! Simple minds One of the top bands ever! Glasgeee!

  • Great Song - Saw them perform this song live last Monday in Sheffield. Gig not sold out! For those of you who stayed at home you missed a great 2 Hour performance!

  • Interesting song. The arrangements are quite good. I'll be seeing them live at the Wembley Arena, today.

  • I just bought the EARLY GOLD.. I had no idea.. It's a CLASSIC>... Definatly their best material.. This song is a top 2, check out some others.. Simple minds is very underated and f*in rocks.. Innovative music..

  • My Memory of this song, 8 yrs old, in bed early, Whistle Test was on late, Mum woke me up to see it, my Uncles the Bassist,Aah, the original line up,with Brian on drums! Magic! :D

  • Sad to hear how Brian missed out because of his health....I often wonder how greater they could have been with him in the band......The song posted is indeed one of my all time favs.

  • kickass! To think this is from 1979.. Just loose the organ for a synth.. Simple Minds are very under rated and are iconic in their own right.. Great sound and a soundtrack to the 1980's!

  • It is an analog synth...beside that, you´re right!

  • Saw this on a pirate DVD copy of best of the OGWT that I bought in (of all places) Shenzhen, southern China. Quality track.

  • great track - sounds more like Magazine than the Sparks to my ears - shame the MInds went all soft in the mid 80s :(

  • Sounds like Sparks wannabees. Strange, Depeche Mode called them rival synth pop band in 1981.

  • Magnificent! Thanks for posting one of the best SM songs!

  • Used to cover this years ago Still Quality.

  • AWESOME!!!!! WHAT A SONG , JUST WAITING FOR A BAND TO DO A GOOD COVER TO PUT IT UP WHERE IT BELONGS. Thanks for posting.
