Most kiwi are not ashamed to walk around with no money in their pockets these is because their stupid banks allow them to use their cards something as cheap as 20 cent stick of gum
My guess is about 3 out of 10 kiwis actually have real tangable money in their pockets
However, in CHCH before the quake the council and local gov was very kind to buskers
