    The Mighty

    The Massive

    The Dangerous

    The Lethal

    The Killer Peak

    The Killer Mountain

One and Only The Nanga Parbat.

    Pride of Pakistan

  • Nanga Parbat is the pride of Pakistan.

  • ofcourse k2 is the hardest (as it also carries CURSE on woman) whereas Nanga Parbat is the deadliest one in the world as it has the death tolls significantly more than those on other peaks.

  • oh the myth of K2 again...it seems only the anglo- americans (the dumbest white population ?!) see the K2 as the most difficult the most dangerous the most alomost like supernatural mountain...probably because of some kind of semi-mystical effect produced by its idiotic name in american imagination...

  • Before we go jumping to conclusions No1 I'm English. I grew up in smethwick by handsworth in birmingham uk.

No2 Just google the worlds hardest mountain to climb and I bet you that almost every web site will agree that K2 is the hardest.

  • I googled it before..I saw you were from UK so what if americans or english think of it as the most dangerous ...one can get killed on far less notorious and lower mountain if he goes climbing some extremely difficult route...there were quite a few elite alpinist who perished on other mountains and climbed K2 or could climb K2 without problems...only idiots can label some certain mountain (other (many of them) variables being undetermined) as the mountain

  • @DeathsHeadWhitePower What would you consider the hardest? do you see death rate as a marker?

  • Nanga Parbat is supposed to be about the 3rd hardest mountain to climb in the world.

Everest is ranked at about 8th or 9th hardest to climb.

And at 1st place is K2 - immensely challenging in every way.

  • Super Geck!! :)

  • I was there, to climb the Rupal Flank in 1980 - these kinds of uber-avalanches were commonplace, a near-daily occurrence. Awe-inspiring - and sobering!

  • That mountain face is the largest in the world, almost 5 km high. Then realize the incredible speed and size of the avalanche roaring down the slope. There are nearby gorges which are 7+ km lower in height than the summit. What an amazing mountain. I would love to climb it once, and enjoy the greatest view that can be seen while still remaining on the face of the Earth.

  • Doesn't Mt. McKinley have the larges face? It's peak is 5500m higher than the plateau it rests on, and it is clearly visible. I'm asking, b/c I'm not sure.

  • That's incorrect, and seems to be a fairly popular delusion, if you read wikipedia (which says that McKinley is better than mt everest (which it is) but there are countless mountains better than McKinley). Search for "spire measure top list". The largest face of Denali rises about 4400 m. There are many mountains "better" than Denali, look for instance at Rakaposhi. It steeply rises about 6 km above the river gorge. Denali isn't even the best in North America, it gets beaten by Mt St Elias.

  • And the northern face of Nanga Parbat rises more than 7 km above the river Gorge north of it. Dhaulagiri has a face which too has a 7 km vertical relief. To say the least, McKinley (Denali) is vanquished by the greater mountains of the Himalayan and Karakoram ranges.

  • That is incorrect. Neither Nanga Parbat nor Dhaulagiri have 7 km faces. Although the Rupal face of N.P is the highest at 4600m.

  • Depends on how you define "face". They rise 7 km over a horizontal distance of about 30 km. That is not very steep, but much steeper than for instance Mauna Loa, which rises 4 km in ~50 km horizontal distance.

  • Have you actually been at the base of some of these mountains? Good luck finding a mountain that can "vanquish" (dwarf?) Denali ; it is way bigger and more massive than the mountain on this video.

  • @lst5 You're ignorant and stupid. Obviously the Himalayan and Karakoram ranges have bigger mounts than the Americas, as they reach more than 2.5 kms into the atmosphere. You have not done your research properly, go back to school.

  • @lst5 And why would you need to get to the base of each mountain to judge them? Are you unable to read a topographic map, lst5?

  • Just because you see a 7km vertical on the topo map doesn't mean you will actually see the mountain from the valley. Often the lowest point is in a deep gorge with very limited view.

On Denali you get 20,000 vertical feet( 6km) open view of the entire mountain when looking from the southeast.

  • @lst5 The north face slopes down to a great river gorge with an elevation difference in excess of 7 km. From the karakoram highway you can definitely see the summit of nanga parbat.

  • @lst5 is a dumb american

  • @lst5 And BTW. There are many mountains which are more impressive than Denali in the Himalayas. Kanchenjunga rises almost 8000 meters in 40 km horisontal distance (above the village Mangan, the peak is also visible from there). Annapurna II rises 5 km in about 8 km. Dhaulagiri also has a west face that is 4600 meters tall, and it rises 7000+ meters in 30 km. Haramosh I rises 6000+ meters in less than 20 km. Annapurna I rises 6700 meters in 20 km. There goes your Denali...

  • Not necessarily the largest faces, but it is the largest mountain, from base to summit, yes.

  • You are wrong Mister. Nanga Parbat has the largest and highest face in the world.

  • 009 Soundsystem- Dreamscape

  • Anyone know the name of the music?

  • Wow, you really aren't that bright are you. 1) Let me see you climb Mount Everest 2) Let me see you do it WITH skis on the back 3) Let me see you ski over the ravines 4) Let me see you ski down the rocky parts and rope bridges and climb parts 5) Your grandma must be one hell of a superwomen, I would love to meet her!

  • FANTASTIC filming opportunity! If the cameraman had held the camera still, it could actually had paid off. Beautiful and frightening at the same time.

  • Great video... overplayed song.

  • what is the song name??

  • wow. amazing avalanche. of course it would never have reached you even if it was twice as big because there were valleys between you and the avalanche.however still VERY impressive.

  • thats massive

  • Unreal! That avalanche stretches half way down the worlds biggest mountain face... nature at its most powerfull... and deadly - hope nobody was attempting to scale the face at the time...

  • Amazing video! What time of the year have you been there? Thinking of going there next year.

  • it is very good place i went three times it is amazing camera cant show all

  • watching an avalanche this close can be real scary

  • well there are still some miles between the camera and the avalanche...

  • Jesus Christ, i don't care if it was 100 miles away, you wouldn't see my arse for dust!

  • HAHAHA, I am going to use that saying in the future, thank you.

  • holy shit!!

  • Did you guys film this from the summit of K2?

  • I hope you're kidding.

  • that is massive..... n wot a beautiful video

  • Wie weit ist die Distanz vom Kameramann bis zum Einstieg, ungefähr ?

  • i'm sorry, i have to correct myself, 216 and 131 aren't only the numbers of climbers who reached the top till 2003. it were all climbers who took part in expeditions, so not all of them reached the top

  • @ benji240877 : till 2003 there were 216 climbers who reached the top of nanga parbat, 61 of them died, in percent this is 28%. at the annapurna top there were 131 climbers, 54 died, in percent: 41%...so it's said to be the most dangerous mountain.

  • That's true, but the statistics were different before 1990. Before that, the "death rate" was 77% (!!) on Nanga Parbat. However, after 1990, according to an article by Explorersweb (search Killer Mountains Nanga Parbat on Google, the first link) 147 summited and 8 died. The figures are probably slightly different today, since the article was written in 2003. But before 1990, Nanga Parbat was (probably) THE most feared mountain in the world.

  • I think that Annapurna is the most dangerous mountain in the world. That seems to be the climbers consensus, but I cant find any real statistics. I just remember that Ed Viestures climbed Nanga Parbat with no problems, and Annapurna was a nightmare.

  • it is looking good, but this is the most dangerous mountain of the world.

  • Probably not! Think about the K2!

  • 281 climbers have been on top of K2 since 1954. 66 have died up there. Do you have any statistics from Nanga Parbat? Would be very interesting.

  • "Is it coming down to us? No - no - no!"

    Famous last words(!)

  • that a pritty big avalanche

  • that looks like smoke

  • Rupal Face!

  • If you ask me thats Rakhiot face not Rupal face...maybe I am wrong...

  • I'm pretty sure you're right; the Rupal face consists primarily of ice and its main specificity is its relief. This face isn't steep enough.

  • impressive video!

the video shows the legendary "rupal face" which is the highest mountain face in the world (4600m)! the rupal face is also one of the most difficult climbing routes.

  • "is it comming down to us" -

this is very sweet - smile.

  • Yikes!

  • i'd like to see a peak where you can be in a valley and see a straight 7000m length of the mountain, most mountains are covered by others. it is it somewhere in this vicinity

  • wow

  • Pakistan zindabad: long live pakistan

  • cool video.. thanks..

what country are you guys from what language are you speaking? =)

  • ."lqhd".

  • This is always more impressive falling from a 8000 m. mountain !!

  • Das ist ja die mega Aufnahme ;)Wie langsam die Lawine aussieht obwohl sie sich wahrscheinlich mit 200km/h bewegt
