It's a shame his growls are sounding so weird, I really hope it's temporary. I can figuratively hear his thoughts at 4:32, something along the lines of "OH GADS NO". It's funny though, if you take a step back and pretend as if some random dude is singing on this video, the growls are quite amazing after all. We're just used to even higher Akerstandards!

For some reason it was around this time that Akerfeldt couldn't reproduce his death growls like they were on the album. He even said himself that Ghost Reveries had some of his most impressive vocal tracks. But I CAN'T be the only one here who can tell that his growls have changed, so much that on the new album "Heritage" there are, apparently, no death metal growls.

I just discovered Opeth. Such a great band, but it's hard for me to listen to the grunt, I prefer his "normal" voice, he is a good singer. They are really good musicians :D

This is an album which took a long, long time to grow on me. As a firm fan of Still Life and Blackwater Park, Ghost Reveries just didn't cut the mustard. Seemed a bit shallow and choppy, so to speak. To this day I prefer those aforementioned albums, but it does have a very nice groove to it.

The tuning Opeth used DADFAE tuning for this track and one other, while using DADFAD on the majority and regular EADGBE on the others. I think that greatly influenced the sound of Ghost Reveries.
