jokeartcom: this is an incredible video - i used your techniques to complete my first class assignment, also a face... until I watched all 3 parts of Orlando Bloom I couldn't get the creativity I wanted... your video gave me breakthrough. Watched all 3 lots of times - used your techniques to complete my first class assignment, also a face... Hung in school president's student gallery, size 3x5. Respect the time it took you. Well done tutorial.
yeah i read more of your videos, i added you on deviantart to my watch, im learning photoshop and see, i just got a bamboo craft tablet and im learning vector, everything, im learning how to use a tablet with an imaging program, like i have no idea how to use the tablet fully yet so im watching you do it, and trying to slow it down in my head so i can tell how you are doing it lol, fantastic job, i just dont know how you get lines like that, im guessing... the free path pen tool?
Just joined today, and this is Vector Art at its peak. Wish you offerred Vector portrait services, I surely would be your first customer. Excellent tecnique!
what i dont get is the upper lip part. how did you multiply one layer and created a smaller version of it afterwards? I usually retrace a smaller version but that is tedious.
i think hair is more tedious and harder to deal with compared to face. I'm still trying to find the right technique and I'm starting to understand it more by thsi vid. You seem to improvise more than actually trace it like the eyes or lips. im bad at improvising
When doing the hair, play with the settings of the pencil tool till you get what you want. You double click the pencil tool and play with the smoothness and the over bit (can't remember it). I have my pencil tool on 20 - 4
It is for some, but this is a video to show people how it's done. When I started out, I couldn't use it. So I am making videos for people to learn from.
I do this for fun, and drawing from life isn't any fun for me. Used to do it, but not anymore.
Illustrator is fairly easy to use once you master the pen tool. You should add this guy on myspace, his vector graphics are amazing and so are his friends on there. His moped illustrations kick ass.
Great Job! I love Vectoring, but it takes FOREVER. The ammount of detail and realism you put in really shows your effort. Once again, fantastic work. ;)

Are you referring to me drawing the shapes I do for the lips? As they are done one at a time.

Tracing is easy. Try drawing from life.

That's a shame because I think drawing from life is a ton of fun.
I've traced, shown some people how to do it and then tear my hair out as they can't see beyond it because of the ease to produce a good likeness.
