  • snes version sucks

  • @supernintendogames1 As opposed to what?

  • @godverdegodverdomme what do you mean

  • FLAWLESS VICTORY

  • September 13, 1993. MORTAL MONDAY

  • great music

    love it

  • Scorpion looks like he just crapped his pants

  • @ohohohno13 lol man, too funny.

  • I love this version. but thats suck who remove the blood.

  • @1Evilshroom

    Nintendo

But as soon as they realized that they lost money on that deal, they let MKII be uncensored (with warning on the front, of course) when that was released (JAP version was censored though)

  • @SolidMike84 Did you see the Japanese censored version. Green blood? You might as well take away the blood completely.

  • The only thing missing is the DA NUH NAAA at the end of the song. XP

  • maybe its just me growing up with the snes but the music sems to sound better then sega.

  • @compendiumgravemind It's not just you, Sega screwed up MK 1 and 2 even with blood the Sega versions weren't that good especally the 2nd one it's awful. In the 1990's Nintendo for the most part was king.

  • johnny cage looks like tony danza

  • listening to this while watching lui kang in his fighting stance was kick ass.... gave the impression he was ready to rumble. sub zero tho comes off as a pimp... his fighting stance looks like hes brushing dirt off his shoulder......... or rubbing his nipple :S

  • Johnny Cage is like "WTF am I doing in here?" xD

  • Pretty amazing how there were originally only 10 fighters in the first installment then a total of 64 fighters as the series is going on as of 2011.

  • GET OVER HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • MK1 on the SNES sucked! NO BLOOD. Thank god the got their shit together with MK2.Blood and guts in MK go together like beer and pizza!.

  • @dkong1994 There was puke however.. :P

  • @godverdegodverdomme Well at least it had something. I thought the other games for the Super Nintendo were good but I loved playing Mortal Kombat in the arcade. I can't remember how many quarters I pumped into those MK machines. I was especally fond of MKII.

  • @godverdegodverdomme Like in SF2? Sometimes, challengers were either puking normal puke or bloody puke. I remember this, I still have the SNES cartridge, as well as the MK1 cartridge!

  • @r4shka Yeah I believe SF2 had this brownish colored puke as well,

I don't recall any bloody puke though from the top of my head.

  • @godverdegodverdomme There's the brown one and the red one. I had the red one a very few times though. Brown = normal, red = blood.

  • @r4shka I happen to own an original SNES cartridge of MK1 and SFII as well :}

Thanks for clearing up the puke colors present in SFII, it's a fairly tricky detail to

remember accurately when it's in there very subtly. Unlike the hundreds of (Identical) bones flying out of one character in MK during fatalities (10 skulls? harharhar).

  • @dkong1994

I liked it, but that was the first ever MK game I had ever played so that explains it

But I don't just like the games for the blood and guts, I like the atmosphere, the characters and the soundtrack

  • @SolidMike84 This was also My first MK game. and I really liked it as a kid I just read my comment over again and I feel like a jackass making it because it isn't true. Really it's a little better than the Sega version simply because the music is MUCH better, it looks better, and plays a hell of a lot better. I downloaded the MK arcade collection and I think it's much more like the Arcade version Same goes for the Super Nintendo MK2 version. The blood is not THAT big a deal.

  • @MrTyraider he'd say "get my wallet over here!!!!"

  • It'd be funny scorpion talking to a officer " problem?"

  • i hate it that when playing Jhonny and fighting Sonya you can't use the ball punch move xP but it's better that girls don't have balls -_-

  • @basco1295 First thing i did was try this out on MK9, you could definitely punch her monkey.

  • i like this theme out of all mortal kombats char select it actually made you feel like you were in a martial arts tournament.... now the new ones sound like your fighting in rome....

  • @doom2sgt True that, and amen as well.

  • Comment removed

  • my cousin had this game and i loved playing it

  • @thesurefiregamer no I remember playing this as a kid on sega I just remembered more ppl unless that was MK2 idk but yeah I also grew up with sega n nintendo best game for me was robocop vs terminator golden axe n streets of rage that was the mother fucking shit for me at least :-) I was like 6 or 7 when I got hooked on the games now I'm 20 n slowly drifting away from games :-(

  • @richard21solava Isn't drifting away from games like drifting away from good music,

or appreciating physical art (paintings, statues, etc)? Ofcourse as you grow older you don't

have as much time to enjoy games, as when you were little.. But drifting away from it?!

I personally (as 26 year old hobbyistic gamer) don't get that.

  • @godverdegodverdomme its not that i dont have time to play its just that i find them real boring now... when i first go my xbox 360 i would come home from school and play like a freaking addict! that was 4 years ago but now all i do is turn the xbox 360 on and sit on the dashboard bored as hell not knowing what to do so i just sold my xbox back in feb 2011 and havent been playing anymore games. i was thinking about buying the new 320GB gears of war 3 xbox 360 but idk i might end up selling it2

  • @richard21solava It might not work for you, but perhaps you should consider something else

then Xbox? I am an avid gamer myself, but I find that particular system to be unappealing.

Also most of todays games are not what games used to be by a long shot, almost all of them

bore me to hell as well. That is why I tend to focus more on the loads of very good older games I

didn't get the chance to play.

There are many very good point and click adventures, to name an interesting genre.

    Try Shivers.

  • @godverdegodverdomme yeah i bought a ps3 and got bored of that within 2 months and sold it then the Wii i played at a friends house boring idk im just not a gamer anymore but yeah ill try computer games now hopefully those are fun

  • @richard21solava I think they will be very enjoyable if you open yourself up to those kind of games,

they are intellectually challenging and a lot of them are full of brilliant jokes as well.

Try the Monkey Island Series, or Grim Fandango. They are timeless works of pure genius.

In case you haven't played them yet, I very much recommend you to do so.

Now I think of it, you may want to get your hands on Cryo's Atlantis as well, in case you're interested

    in point and click/puzzle games.

  • What!!?!? 7 ppl only!?!? Fuck

  • and they all gang raped Sonya

  • @richard21solava That's right, you gamers got it easy! Back in my day we only had 7-8 characters in a fighting game! And they had to share special moves!

  • they NEED to release this game for PSN,Xbox live, and virtual console

  • That right there is a classic and lovable theme.

  • Nobodies fault but mine from Led Zeppelin oddly soundsd the same, maybe thats why its so gangster.

  • johnny cage looks like tony danza in wearing shades

  • wait what? at 0:05 it just one beat? snes its 3 beats wtf

  • This brings back memories of playing this with my brother for hours when we were kids!

  • man what a awesome time

when i hear this sound, my head are playing the music so i can sing with it because the meoldy is burned in my memorys :D

  • OLD TIMES

  • wtf? just 7 characters? lol

  • @acexjack lol you must be too young XD

  • @acexjack 7 characters back then was alot to us... You will never understand older generations, only understand your generation, and future generations will mock previous generations... typical life forming generations. I am at a generation where I remembered life without the internet and depending on magazines and tv commercials for news, totally different than today, I miss those old days.

  • @acexjack You do realize that this was the first game, right?

    Fail.

  • @acexjack to the fags who got butt hurt by my post. this post wasnt an insult or anything negative, its been so long since i played the game that back then i thought this was alot of characters now obviously as i see it again, its so small. pieces a shits.

  • i love this

  • omg love this stuff, brings back fond memories, coming back from school and play this for hours!! good times!!

  • theres a dope hip hop song that samples this theme its sick! watch?v=NkhVdElq9FM

  • I feel like buying the Arcade just right now :p

  • Such Epic Music!!! haha

  • epic, awesome ! will never forget this game! i still have it :P

one of the best for snes!

  • the sega genesis version is a million times better!

  • Raidens badass pic love it

  • CLASSIC

  • Raiden looks like he is having sex or something.

  • kano looks like a rapist.

  • Awesome!

  • SHUB-SHERO

  • miss those days. chilling on a couch with a couple of friends and a bag of potatoe chips and killing shit in a colorful cartoon world and blaring videogame music.

  • The thing that made scorpion look really creepy in the first MK (in my own opinion) was the fact that he had a human face; it really added that ghostly vibe to his character. Finding out that he was a skeleton underneath was like the ultimate surprise.

  • liu kang is bruce lee

  • i have this as a rom on my modded xbox =D

  • wheres gulie or M bison

  • oh man I fuckin hate getting older.

  • Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat & Killer Instinct

The games that made me a fan of fighting games and I had them all plus more on SNES

So glad I was born in '84 :D

    Nostalgia ^^

  • @SolidMike84 Those 3 games are also the reason as to why I like fighting games (even though I got into Street Fighter & Killer Instinct during middle school, but Mortal Kombat in elementary school).

Just out of curiosity, how would you rank each of these 3 franchises (Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct & Street Fighter) from least favorite to favorite?

  • @Nicksolo85

Ooof, man, tuff call...Honestly SF & MK are constantly fighting side by side at the first spot most of the time XD

    2D personal top 3:

Fav 1 - Mortal Kombat (Cool, dark, menacing fighting game ^^)

    2 - Street Fighter (SFII, SFEX+@, SFA3, SFIII & SFIV, oh my)

Least 3 - Killer Instinct (Like a mix between SF & MK, a good one at that, I liked it either way, but only 2 games? WTF Rare -_-)

But 3rd place nowadays has to go to Guilty Gear, KI is too inactive :/

    Yours?

  • @SolidMike84 For me, it goes..

#3 (least favorite): Street Fighter because though it may be the most popular, it's just not as dark or violent as Killer Instinct & (at least with the games I've played) it seems like many tracks just get reused constantly

#2: Killer Instinct because the music kicks ass, plus I think Jago is way better than Ryu & Ken. Like Mortal Kombat, it has blood & fighter & arena finishers

#1 (favorite) Mortal Kombat due to it's awesome high violence level & dark story

  • @Nicksolo85

    That's cool ^^

SFA3 have different themes, SFIII & SFEX+@ themes also are very different from their SFII versions :)

KI have a killer soundtrack for sure :D and if you love awesome soundtracks you gotta try "Guilty Gear" and some "King of Fighters" games

MK was that forbidden fruit that just made it more desirable ^^

Pretty excited about the new MK game, might be it's gorious return finally! :D

Any other fighting games you've played that are smaller favs of yours?

  • @SolidMike84 As far as Street Fighter goes, I've only played Alpha 2, SF II, SF II Turbo/Champion Edition, Super SF II & Super SF IV

That thing about MK being a forbidden fruit reminds me of when I was 10 & my Mom banned us from all fighting games for awhile. I remember Summer 95, I saw Killer Instinct at an Arcade (right next to MK3 ironically). I wanted to play it, but my Mom said "No"

I've played Soul Calibur IV, TMNT: TF, SW Masters of Teras Kasi & the worst of all, The Simpsons Wrestling

  • @Nicksolo85

You should def try SFA3, sooo many characters and the soundtrack sounds nothing like the original themes (even though people say that the soundtrack is weak, I think not, gotta give some theme musics there a listen to) Pretty much played every SF game including some crossovers of course ^^

Never was an arcade around here :/ But good friends who showed some awesome games & then your birthday was coming up, presto! :D MK was like a teenage game, you felt older and cooler with that game

  • @SolidMike84 What consoles is SFA3 for?

Someone I'm friends with on Facebook posted Electronic Gaming Monthly's 12 Things you didn't know about MK from Ed Boon. 1 of the things was that the idea for a Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter game was thought up years ago.

I really hope that and/or Mortal Kombat vs Killer Instinct someday come to fruition.

Also, if you've never played The SImpsons Wrestling, you're lucky because that game sucks compared to every other (fighting) game I've played.

  • @Nicksolo85

Some I know for sure: Dreamcast, PlayStation, PlayStation 2 ("SFA Anthology", a collection) & PlayStation Portable

Yip, Boon mentioned it way back I remember ^^

I love that they wanted to have Jean Claude Van Damme in the game, but no luck, only to see him appear in a MK looking SF game "Street Fighter The Movie" as Guile! XD Epic

Me too man, me too, but before any more crossovers I want to have a KI3, it's time now

Can't say I have played it, would be interesting to play though ^^

  • @SolidMike84 I would also like to see Killer Instinct 3.

I would also like to see arcade perfect ports of Killer Instinct 1 & Killer Instinct 2 brought to current generation consoles as either a downloadable game or a game you can purchase in stores (which is my preferred method).

I have Killer Instinct 1 for Super Nintendo. I have played Killer Instinct 2 in Arcades, but never got very far. Unfortunately, I didn't get an opportunity to face opponents like Maya, Kim Wu & Tusk.

  • @Nicksolo85

They could follow MKs example, rumors about a "MK HD Arcade Kollection" to ps3 only (MK1, 2 & 3)

I'd love to see arcade ports as well, in stores, I'm not much for downloading via console, call me old fashioned but I just want my console to be a console without the need of hooking up on internet, I wanna play alone or with nearby pals :P

Played KI on Snes like a mother ^^

I need to buy KI to my snes again, I have SFII & MK but it feels so incomplete without KI :/ As well as MKII & MK3

  • @SolidMike84 You could try a store that sells older video games (I know they're rare, but there are a few around my region I know of).

If you can't find any stores that sell old video games, you could try a flea market. There may be vendors with stacks & stacks of old cartridges and/or CDs.

The biggest flea market in my area has several vendors, each with stacks & stacks of old games.

I like the idea of playing games online. It's fun to interact (so to speak) with others I have no headset.

  • @Nicksolo85

There's a swedish version of EBay (sortof, that I usually buy from, but now money is looow :()

Practically nothing like that around here, there's a store 2hours from here that sells used games (usually ps, ps2, gc, wii and newer not older console games :/)

That's cool, I just wish they wouldn't make it a must have internet to download some content to a game :P

  • @Nicksolo85

    Fighting series I've been playing

SF, MK, KI, Dead or Alive (even though I've played through all I don't like them at all), Tekken, Guilty Gear, Fatal Fury, King of Fighters, Art of Fighting, Soul Calibur, World Heroes, GASP/Deadly Arts, Tao Feng, Virtua Fighter, Bloody Roar etc

And countless of pro wrestling games (THQ games etc) & beat 'em up games (Final Fight etc)

  • cage wins

  • crud.... double ice backfire!

  • Cult Game!

  • @destruye666 Cult game?? More like well known very popular game!

  • @ufo5440 It is a cult game no matter what you think of it it caused a shit storm in the industry that lead to things like a maturity rating system among other things.

Its survival even to this day is a testament of this, just like Street Fighter, this is why there were so many MK and SF clones in the 90s because both were the best when it came to fighting games.

  • they need to remake this for the xbox360 and PS3

  • @OG2958 yeah

  • @OG2958 They need to remake the original one. Not these shitty other ones granted some of them were cool But a lot of them sucked in my opinion

  • @OG2958

Aren't they doing that (in a way, kinda, almost)?

  • pick a fuckin character

  • scorpion used that picture in his drivers license

  • Comment removed

  • @mrtonhus That is a funny one mrtonhus

  • sickest ringtone ever :D

  • omg, this piece of crap is so inferior to genesis version...

  • @Anball2 SHUT YOUR WHORE MOUTH DIPSHIT!!

  • i was only seven years old when i enjoyed this beautiful game...

  • the snes one is the best!!! others sound too midi... this one is amazing...

  • It's funny, one of my friends said that the SNES MK version was identical to the Arcade version. haha, he also said that he couldn't tell the difference between Doom on the SNES and Doom on the PC. He must not play too often to tell the difference. lol.

  • go to vidtomp3.com to convert the url to an mp3.

  • Does anybody know what kind of music this is, the genre?

  • jani cage

    kano

    fub fero

    sonya

    rairen

    lu cang

    scorpion

  • viejos tiempos

  • BL + UP - UP

  • Scorpion fatality.

  • @Berni0707 @OperationDeathStrike

Sometimes (if you're close enough like at sweep distance) you don't even have to press BLK.

I just quickly tap Up, Up & the Fatality works. Of course, the 1st time I press Up, Scorpion jumps but then he removes his mask & incinerates his opponent.

That's why I can get Scorpion to face Reptile if shadows fly across the moon at the Pit (Arcade & Sega Genesis only), I get a Double Flawless, don't press BLK & do Scorpion's Fatality (Arcade, Super NES & Genesis)

  • so much memories i love this game

  • playing this game went hand in hand with watching power rangers hahahahaha

  • ali baba ley, or w/e raiden said lol

  • @neely47: Me to dude. I remember playing this game way back. 1992 or 93 I think. Good times.

  • @neely47 I'm with you man, I was 10 when this came out I remember thinking about playing this all day at school, trhose were the days!

    <
